  • Here's my review of the Harley Benton 25th Anniversary SC Les Paul-type guitar in firemist gold. It's excellent, with a roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, splitable coils on the alnico 5 humbucker pickups, locking tuners - the features just go on and on. And the guitar is available for under $300 - maybe one of the best buys out there right now.

One of my pals just bought one to add to his stable of Gibson Les Pauls... He's impressed.

It’s quite a deal. I’ve not found any to match it for the price.

One of these days I'm going to have to figure out how to get a Harley Benton guitar, every time I see a review of one I want one. I've never tried strings lower than my standard 9s. I should put 8s on a guitar and try them sometime.

Rick Beato convinced me to try 8-38. Love them now.

@@tonyleeglenn I will have to give them a try on something soon.

@@tonyleeglenn 8s are great for standard tuning but if you're playing in Eb or lower definitely recommend upping string gauge slightly to compensate.

@@dcarpenter85 Yes - I usually use 9s on a 25.5 scale S or T-style if I'm doing Eb or D tuning. Fortunately I'm doing most of my drop tuning work with Variax virtual tunings these days, so not much to worry about. I've noticed that the Variax acoustic models seem more realistic with 10s. There are tradeoffs for sure.

Thanks for your review, mate. How much does this beauty weigh? I hear HB guitars tend to be heavy...

Just weighed it. 8 pounds even.

@@tonyleeglenn Thanks mate. This isn't that heavy for a LP!

Wow, that's light for an LP!

Hello. Nice review. How is this D shaped neck, please? Is it flat, doescit have shoulders?

I prefer the sound of the Fusion III. I wonder if the 'Tesla' pickups are what make the big difference.

The Tesla’s are quite nice. I like the sound of both guitars a lot but yes, that fusion is very versatile.
