New Knife Brand Alert! Introducing the C. Risner Ohio River Jack Prototypes

  • C Risner is a Knife Retailer that has been around since the 1970s, and they have come out with a new modern traditional knife pattern- the Ohio River Jack. This design has dual bolsters and looks somewhere in size between a classic cigar pattern and a sunfish. In this video I compare it to many traditional knife companies, and explain the differences in construction. You'll see budget brands like Rough Ryder, and moderate end popular brands like Great Eastern Cutlery with the #36 pattern. The Benchmade Proper also makes an appearance. I also discuss handle patterns like the gunstock, the elephant toenail, the cigar, the swayback, and more. Visit C Riser on the web to buy this knife:

    I once saw a guy kill a whole platoon of Germans with nothing but one single Ohio River Jack, one pistol, a couple of machine guns, and an entire fleet of bombers and artillery. Hell of knife.

    AKBro is definitely the best of the knife channels. Too bad the rest of the internet doesn’t know it. But opinion isn’t necessarily fact. I do love how he doesn’t take himself or his subject too seriously like so many other channels do. I swear hearing some guy explain how great the “walk and talk” is on a $300+ knife, that’ll never even open up a box of manscaping supplies really gets the ole blood boiling.
    AKBro does a great job of balancing the beauty of utility with the utility of beauty. And that’s some next level BS. You’re welcome.

    As a Missouri man who sometimes maintains the shadow box of contraband at the local pd. I can tell you with some certainty that the pot leaf knife is too nice for the case. However, Hand grenades, switch blades, brass knuckles, sawn off shotguns, shives, shanks and gas masks turned into bongs are all accepted.

Your commentary continues to be as sharp as ever...enjoyed your "bake them away toys" reference, hadn't heard it in quite a while...I liked the spear point "khaki" knife, a real beauty...I wish it had a second blade, perhaps a spey...May I suggest you consider doing some videos on the knives you described at 1:30? They look beautiful and interesting...lots of history there...Also, I enjoy your beer & multi-tool videos, hopefully you will do more of them, especially with the changes occurring in the multi-tool area...Do you still carry the Wave? Bummed to hear that they didn’t send you a Bexar, you have been reviewing slipjoints modern and otherwise before all the other big reviewers jumped on the slipjoint train.
    The construction of the titanium handle parts on these modern traditionals kind of reminds me of the construction of the brass handle parts on the buck 110 in terms of being one big piece with a fancy inlay and pinned construction.
    If Hoit buck were alive today would he have swapped the brass for titanium, the diamondwood for micarta, and the 420HC for the M390 steel? I’d like to think so, if only to make the brimmed hats mad.

      @@AdvancedKnifeBro That's definately a good call for peace of mind. I used to do that too, untill I saw the M16-03 being refered to as spear point in one place, and then as a drop point with a ricasso in another. 😨

    Are those ORJs actually 1 of 200? Or do all the prototypes say that?

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think they’re all numbered like that- but I’ll be honest I did not directly ask that question. It could be a marking from qsp that won’t show up in the final shots. Maybe is Austin is reading these he can answer that.

      The two blades ORJs will be 1 of 100. And the 1 of 100 will be lasered on the blade tangs of those knives. The single blade versions will not have the quantity lasered on the tangs since there is no room on the single blade versions. I appreciate it!

    Are these knifes USA made?

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They’re made by QSP which I stated in the video, and QSP is a Chinese company. Since they are a Chinese company, they are made in China.

    • @c.risnercutlery

      They are made by QSP in China as AKB stated. The quality is really nice on these though.

    The sheep's foot, Wharncliffe distinction story needs more elaboration.
    At risk of committing sacrilege it sounds like a different way to say potato.
    Your success is anecdotal. Three seconds of Metal Complex gives me a migraine.
