I bought the Fender Champion 100 amp through Amazon, two months after I bought the Campion 20, in which I practice the songs. I have not received the Champion 100 but I confess that after reading some comments and answers from all of you I am excited to receive it as soon as possible. I'm not a profesional, just play worship in my church. We have a small band and so I decided to buy the Champion 100. Brother, congratulations on the video.
I bought this amp a year ago and love it! Especially for the music I play (Old school R & B, Jazz, Blues, Contemporary Gospel, etc.) Very happy with the classic Fender tones and the on-board FX that allow me to explore versatile styles.
The champion series are great. Have solid clean sounds and good platform for pedals. Like most Fender solid state amps they let themselves down with distortion.
Yeah you gotta put distortion in front. The stage 160 on board distortion is better and it's louder. I have to get the 160 fixed. I couldn't barely put the volume past 1 into 2 it's so loud
You're Absolutely right. I ended up in prison for a couple years and even there in the music/ band room, when they decided to upgrade from their old underpowered and abused line 6 amps they bought 2 champion 100 combos. Definitely an upgrade compared to those old tired Line 6 amps
I play at a church and every musician there has hi powered amps except me. So I did research and came across this and saved. It cost 330 back in 2015, and it was worth Every penny . Took me some time to get used to its strength
I finally bought one after jamming through a Champion 40 for the last year. I'm an old school player, playing since the 1970's. I've owned most of the great amps in the past, Fender Twins, Marshall heads ect... but I am in love with the Champion series. Great for a musician on a budget, with all the (easy to use)features you'd ever need. For the price you can't beat the sound and quality. Fender got it right with the Champion 100. BTW I enjoy your reviews. You're a good player and very informative.
@@williamsherman2374 I have the Champion 40, and i tell you simply: It's the best amp you can get at the price, It's a little bit cheaper than the Katana 50, so if you want crystal clear Fender tones, also a pedal platform, you probably have to go for the Fender; but if you want a very versatile amp, the Katana is a better option. I actually use the Champion 40 in church without a mic in front, and at volume 6 or 7 it's really loud, and it does the job without any distortion. The dirty tones are usable, they're not Boss Katana tones, but if you haven't got any pedals, and just a cheap 20$ footswitch, it'll also do the job. In church we use a 120 watt 3 channel hybrid (one ECC83 in the preamp) combo (Laney LV300), and we turn it up to 4 volume, just so you can compare it with the Champion 40.
Dude, I'm searching for a nice solid state Fender for cleans, and I don't get along too much with modelling amps. Would you recommend this amp over a Fender Deluxe 112 or Performaner or similar? I'm talking about the American ones. I've had a Frontman series and, tonewise was acceptably nice but had major issues with electronics, and sadly there's NO WAY I could afford a tube Fender amp in my country
I am waiting for mine fender champion 100 2 x 12 100 and I hope the disstortion is good I ordered blue moon pedal to give it some punch and a wah cry baby pedal and I got the Wolfgang special ax I want to blow the windows out does any one suggest any other Kool effects cause I really don't no anything about this amp
I was going between this and the Boss Katana 100. I decided I was too lazy to take a year to mess with all the settings on the Boss. I love the Champion. Great cleans and amp models, takes pedals well, what else could you ask for?
As a 30 years player i guaranteed to every one that this amp is awesome and very versátil, and a many good modeling amps, and one of the most important thing WORKS GREAT WITH PEDALS.. cheers
Nice review. I’ve owned one for about a year. Played on several stages. Filled a 700 seat auditorium alongside drums and bass. Chose this over Orange because of Fender clean channel. I run a Fuzz and OD pedal, among others, through channel 1. I dialed in one sound with channel 2, a classic rock sound, which is all I use it for. Pedals work great. Orange had better distortion, but clean was horrible. I find it easier to pedal distort than trying to get a good clean with pedals.
Just got this few months ago, perfect for my purposes. Still putting it thru it's paces , but it's a keeper. Fender's never let me down. Had many thru the years. Got a great deal on at my friend's music store. Thank you, Mikey! You're the best!!
I bought one used on CL for $150 and have since bought a second one so I don't have to move it back and forth to our rehearsal space. I use it all gigs and have never had an issue... plus it is light for a 100W 2x12. A great amp for the money, for sure. And as Shane demonstrates, it's the player, not the the gear, that matters.
I've had the Champ 20 and 40 for a few years, adding this 100 soon. Great tones, easy to adjust to your style of playing, and well reliable. I love tube tone, but it's not practical where I live. These amps give me all the versatility I could want, at a fraction of the price. 👍
I have a mint Fender Stage 185 (red knobs) 1x12 which I bought with my first strat plus in the mid 80's ,these were my first buys b4 I learned how to play, the Stage 185 till this day sounds great, now I have 30 guitars & 12 amps
Fender has been making some great solid state amps since the 80s starting with those red knob amps like the power chorus and the princeton chorus amps - the clean side anyways. Surprised they haven't had more traction, if you want to gig at a club - why bring your expensive deluxe or twin reverb tube amps - these would work plenty fine and you wouldn't have to fear some jerk spilling beer on your expensive amp.
I agree. I had a Princeton chorus and it sounded really good. Now I have a Superchamp XD and it too has great tone. Also play through a Campion 40 From time to time and it also has great tones.
I'm dialing in my new Champ 100 which was delivered a couple of mornings ago. I find that the angry bees in the drive channel will calm down a bit if you keep the gain to 4-ish.
It’s really interesting how Solid State has evolved. I had a Pro 185 in the 90s and it was voiced differently from this amp. It was very clear and hi-fi, but with a Strat type guitar, just could not come close to the fat, compressed edge-of-breakup sound of a vintage valve amp, which was what I wanted for blues. So I sold it and bought a ‘59 Bassman, which I still play most days and adore. I think that if this amp had been available back then, that I might have hung onto it, as it does a much more tubey overdriven sound, to my ear, based on this demo. (The Pro 185 did a great job with a hollow body archtop guitar though, as it was already so fat sounding.)
I have the previous version, the Fender Frontman 212 (100 watts) clean, gain and more gain channels. I also have the Fender pedal. I prefer the clean and gain as the gain is more like a crunch. The more gain channel can have too much distortion, but I guess that's what the gain control knob is for. It's not a bad amp at all. The clean is very good with a lot of bottom end. The reverb is real spring reverb so that is a very good feature too. The 2 12's and 100 watts gives it a good sound and tone with enough power. No it's not 100 tube watts of power but it's enough, especially considering how light it is. It seems like it will last forever too. -Peter P.S. I have the Fender Champion 20 version of the amp in this video. I run it through my Frontman 212 when I want all the on board amps and effects so that's the only reason why I never purchased the Champion 100.
I have the champ 40 I’ve had it for three years and I love it ....🎵❤️🎵 I have been debating on buying the 100 because both channels have Effects, and I do like the modeling of the amplifier ....! So I think I will buy one next month....! I’ve had several twins over my lifetime being a musician of 50 years and I can carry this Amp....❤️ GREAT VIDEO......!!!🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎸
So today I went Guitar Center to try out amps, and played with everything with tubes, most 1x12, like Hot rods, blues juniors, Voxs, Marshall, and Orange, etc, , then before I left I saw this amp and thought oh well why not try this out, for the hell of it, I turned it on played it through the models which sounded like crap, and thought little of it, so I switched to the 1st channel and I stood in shock, this amps 1st channel was amazing big wide crisp clean and smooth, I was in denial trying to not accept that I actually liked it more than the other tube amps, idk guys I may go for it
I just bought on of these on ebay but it hasn't gotten here yet. I also ordered the boss gt1b and a Johnson jh100 guitar. I'm excited about learning how to play. However I did play bass semi professionally back in the day
40 year player here, with a tip for beginners. Use a metronome. Pick a few basic exercises. Repeat them, endlessly. Focus on smoothness, connecting your whole being into the exercises. Chords, Basic Theory, Songs , etc should be embraced also, but, to do as I suggest, to get your fingers(and other body parts) in excellent shape, and to gain internal familiarity with releasing heart and mind into your sound making, is very powerful. Train the basic organism, physical and spiritual with simple, endlessly repeated exercises, done to a metronome. (Move the exercises, one fret at time, up and down the neck or at least to the 12th -15th fret or so. You'll find that playing the same exercise is physically VERY different on different parts of the neck.) Hope I'm being helpful.
Each amp review I see, the more confused I feel. I really like the sound of this amp but also the champion 50xl or 100xl. I know there is a few differences. But someone could compare both? I mean..clean tones, depth sound? Which is best for drive pedals and that stuff? Thanks! Great, great video btw!
I tried these out, and would definitely take one over the new Mustang GTs, but I would still go with the original Mustang v1, and 2s, for versatility, and tone. Nice demo, and playing, thanks!
Fender did great with this line of amps!. I bought the champion "40",& i gotta admit , its got great tones for a great price! & i'm a real "tube amp" guy!
I just received mine in the mail today! I can’t wait to see how she performs. I just set all the settings based off my Bugera. Again, I’m really looking forward to it.
HUTCHfromBA probably Katana for versatility/Different styles and the Fender amp for more classic clean and dirty tones as well as someone willing to buy pedals for more sounds.
This amp is more than I need. I have the Champion 20 version and I can get many, many good tones, tones that I really like. Because I have had a Marshall JCM900 MkIII head and a Full Stack of Marshall JCM900 1960A and 1960B cabs -I sometimes like to shake the very foundations of my house. Also, like many, I have the perception that if I spend $4,000 on a new rig I will be satisfied. Then I realize the Fender Champion 100 is all I'll ever really need, more than I'll ever need. This is me being realistic! My experience with my Champion 20 tells me I will be satisfied and able get the tones and hi-volume I crave with the 100 watt version. I have a Fender Frontman 212R and it is loud as hell! Come to think of it I really should purchase another Champion 20 for a stereo set up, a Champion 40 or two and the Champion 100. To be honest this would be a killer bit of kit! Peter
Sounds great... packed full of sound options, with power and quality to use live... Won't ever understand why amp companies don't build giant handles (m@rshall quad style) in the sides of their combos, and options for wheels on the base... so much awesomeness poured into the tone... so little thought put into how these things get lifted, set up, and used live.
These cheaper fender amp cabs already rattle, the cheap plastic handles in the side would probably be even worse. My all black super champ X2 used to rattle but after gigging the shit out of it the rattles went away, but now the creme limited edition super champ X2 I use for at home really rattles, probably hasn't been broken in yet.
Just let my son have my Mustang lll and bought the Champion 100 for myself. Love the sound and simplicity of the 100 much better than fooling with all the settings on the Mustang.
Great review mate. I have this amp and I love it. I mostly use the clean channel and run pedals through it, but the other channel does offer some good options as long as you are aware of the volume jump. Keep up the good work mate, I really enjoy your channel even though I'm based in the UK.
I had this amp 2 years ago sounded pretty descent. I recently got a blues jr and omg. This thing blew my socks off. Doesn’t compare. I rather save up those extra $250. Or you could go with the sc x2. Great amps!!
Great demo! Love the clean tones. Some of the dirty tones have more of a fuzz than distortion which I thought was pretty cool. Would be a good option to look at if you don’t want to invest in a bunch of pedals. 👍🏻
You really make Solid State amps sound great man. I picked up the Blues Cube Hot after watching your video. Solid State is really improving, I prefer the Blues Cube to the Blues jr.
I liked the cleans evenly and they both take pedals well, but the gain on the Blues Cube was far superior. I don't like the gain on the Blues Jr at all. The NOS tweed version is good though.
I got one for my guitar player couple of weeks ago when his line 6 spider shit the bed. He is stoked! Two 12's and two channels with a footswitch for $329 new! Sounds great and loud!
j have a old tweed bronco solid state from the 90's for practicing at home that has a pretty sweet clean channel and a usable drive - great video as usual Shane
From Leo: Good test. It is a good sounding amp with Great effects. I bought one. There are two problems . 1) It will not keep up with tube amp for volume on outdoor gigs. My buddies old 4 X 10 Bassman walked right over the top of me. 2) The biggest problem is there is NO SERVICE from Fender after the warranty is over. Fender service will not accept them for repair even if you are willing to pay. NO PARTS are available. Mine cooked the power amp module and burned up the circuit board. I can get the module aftermarket, but the circuit board is toast. Now Fender only warranties them for two years, after that it is a throw away. Good sounding speakers though.
Thanks for this info. I was looking at one of these as a backup to a Laney 30 watt valve amp. I've always liked Fender's clean sounds but the fact you cannot get it repaired even if you pay is worrying. I perhaps can see where Fender is coming from as repairing this item would likely cost nearly as much in some cases as buying a new unit but it still seems irresponsible and tends to encourage just throwing things away.
Hi Barb, I had the same problem with the champion 100, when you really crank it up , it has no balls! I'm looking at the katana. everyone is raving about it now!
I m glad you did this video. I using the Champion 100. I plug my pedalboard into it and play threw the clean channel. How would you compare this amp to the Bandit that you love?
ChrisPowellFishingTV how to connect my pedal?..say I want only the amp models of the dirty channel..after it all the effects will be added from my pedal board
So if I get all my tone from a pedalboard and I only need a clean channel, should I buy this or the Katana? And which one is better for a small gig situation?
My Super champ x2 is just awesome.. I was kinda hoping Fender would do a 2x12 version and it seems they may have, altho im not too convinced of the distortions on this 100. Poss the lack of valves which the x2 has giving it a more realistic tone. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Shane.I've been kickin' around this Amp,Boss Nextone,Lonestar 2x12s.I am totally confused 😏I have a Fender Blues Jr.IV and a Boss GT-1 and then a kustom Sienna 65 watt.Confused yet? I'm trying to go solid state on a higher wattage amp preferably 2x12.I have been leaning to the Fender Champ, the price is good and with the Boss GT-1 I have a few options to dial in a sound I'm bound to be satisfied with. Thanks for your great channel with 👍 topics, never dissapointed!!!😊
Awesome would you prefer this over the mustang gt 200? And would you be able to get nirvana tones? Please let me know because I'm confused with which to buy, although i use pedals.
I have tryied katana 100 and bought champion 100.. it hase much better clean + I really like some effects like vibratone and tremolo. Distorsion is also great soundingm and with price difference you can buy digitech rp55 and have tons of options.
Bought a used one , distortion is good but only at a low volume , affects are solid , like the heavy duty foot switch , i use a TC mojo hand overdrive plenty of punch this amp takes effects really well
I'm looking for a Fender Gig amp with a good clean channel to use with pedals. Just would use the reverb and tremolo. Maybe the overdrive channel sometimes. Its hard to find a Fender amp 1x12 above 50W not being a modeling amp. I don't want a modeling amp. Just want a clear and loud clean channel. Once I can't find a 1x12 amp, is that amp fill my needs? I can't try one, because I can't find one. Just buying pre owned on the internet. Thanks.
Just purchased a Fender player series Telecaster will it sound nice with this amp ? looks like a really good amp for the price, didn't realize how big it was aha
Its an Awesome amp. Does everything you would want or need an amp to do. Why spend huge money for an amp that does and sounds the same as the Champion 100?
Here is the deal I've been using this amp for years and it sounds great and loud However all my pedals are in the loop. Why? Because I love both the distortion and reverb/chorus/delay the amp offers but when my pedals are in front of the amp the distortion changes and doesn't sound as good however in the loop they just work. Strange....

I pulled the trigger on the 100XL today. Just liked the sound better than the 100. This is likely due to the different speakers in the XL. YMMV
Can Champion 40 outvoice drums without tweaking max volume?
Best review of this amp. I bought mine based on this review. I’m not disappointed in any facet.
I just received mine in the mail today! I can’t wait to see how she performs. I just set all the settings based off my Bugera. Again, I’m really looking forward to it.
Nice to watch non namm spam Great Demo & congrats on the 80k man epic!!
Troy marshall thanks Troy 😎👍
Shane, bettween the Katana 1x12 100W and the Champion 2x12, which one would you pick ? Just curious. Blues On...
HUTCHfromBA probably Katana for versatility/Different styles and the Fender amp for more classic clean and dirty tones as well as someone willing to buy pedals for more sounds.
Yeah I think a Champion 100 will work beautifully for my tastes.
Thanks Shane.
Peter
Thanks .great demo , found this really helpful with each sound and effect shown .I have now ordered one
Bought one yesterday. This helped a lot! Thanks so much
Very helpful! I had planned on purchasing a new one this week. This demo video sealed the deal. Thanks!
Is that amp left handed or right handed?
It’s Upright
Is your comedy DVD out this Christmas or next? 🤔
ambidextrous
Want a cookie?
picking up one tomorrow cant wait. Next tho is a 65 twin !
Absolutely love this amp. Bought a marshall code traded it in for this and it's 100 times better.
I literally just did a similar trade, Marshall Mg30fx to the champion100, and boy was it worth it.
How about having both. Like me. I intend to letvmy base player use tge Fender too. No trade worth it for tge magnificence of the Marshall 100Combo
Thanks for doing a solid state fender amp video.
Portable, reliable and usually take pedals well!
Since a while I spottet on this amp. Finally your vid had convinced me to pruchase this particular amp. By the way: well played patterns. Thank you.
"I'm not a metal player", then proceeds to melt my face off!
haha! Thanks a lot!
This amp sounds real good.
They used to put wheels on their 2x12” amps, like the Pro 185, which weighed as much as a hippo. It left wheel marks on my bedroom floor boards!
Just let my son have my Mustang lll and bought the Champion 100 for myself. Love the sound and simplicity of the 100 much better than fooling with all the settings on the Mustang.
Good amp! Realistic sounds. Didn't like the od of the Fender models, but the Brit drive sounds were convincing!

Great review mate. I have this amp and I love it. I mostly use the clean channel and run pedals through it, but the other channel does offer some good options as long as you are aware of the volume jump. Keep up the good work mate, I really enjoy your channel even though I'm based in the UK.
This will be probably be my gigging amp for guitar if the 40 isn't loud enough.
All it needs is wheels at the bottom and it’s perfect fer a gigging amp dude
Great demo mate! I enjoyed your playing styles.
I really love you guitar playing intro.... Is a overall good demo man
Thanks Mike. :-)
It's nice to see you play a guitar the proper way. (left handed) I enjoyed your video. Thanks.
I'm gonna buy this amp I like the clean sounds it gets
Sounds nice but why do they bother with touch wah I've never heard a good one!
baron von chickenpants I've spent hours messing around with the touch wah on mine. Listening to it and playing it are different stories
You really make Solid State amps sound great man. I picked up the Blues Cube Hot after watching your video. Solid State is really improving, I prefer the Blues Cube to the Blues jr.
I pick up a Blues Cube Artist great amp no regrets :-)
The cube is great yes , but why would you take it over a blues Jr?
I liked the cleans evenly and they both take pedals well, but the gain on the Blues Cube was far superior. I don't like the gain on the Blues Jr at all. The NOS tweed version is good though.
Doug J...but it is a digital amplifier...not solid state analog....
Zonak Mahanta , only the effects are digital, the pre-amp and power amp are solid state, there are pictures of the circuit board online.
thanks for the review - just got a killer deal on one and was curious what I bought, LOL !!!
nice gigging amp for bars/clubs or diy spaces
Nice playing man!! Thanks for the review
I've got this amp and was really impressesed with it and for the price (£200) I paid I'd definitely recommend.
I know this amp has its own built in effects, but how well would it take pedals? Not just effects, but distortion pedals too?
I got one for my guitar player couple of weeks ago when his line 6 spider shit the bed. He is stoked! Two 12's and two channels with a footswitch for $329 new! Sounds great and loud!
I have two of those. Got them both free, one from GC, the other from Fender. Love the wall art, just awesome!!
j have a old tweed bronco solid state from the 90's for practicing at home that has a pretty sweet clean channel and a usable drive - great video as usual Shane
What a beautiful clean tone! And you are an amazing player. Thanks
It reminds me if the Vox valvertronix amps, definitely like the fender tone(s) you can dial up with the Champion,
Good demo.
Thank you for the review, I just bought one and was wondering how it would sound.
Nice detailed demo, Shane! You might have sold a few of these.
ChrisPowellFishingTV I'm thinking of getting the champion 100
Would you say it was loud enough to play with a band and in gigs?
Daniel Fawcett-Tuke yea man it’s plenty loud to gig with.
ChrisPowellFishingTV cool thanks
Never had my volume over 5. It blow your ear drums out.
sounds really good clean, thats enough for me lol
So if I get all my tone from a pedalboard and I only need a clean channel, should I buy this or the Katana? And which one is better for a small gig situation?
Wow... it got me at hello... I love that clean tone...
Really helpful in my quest for an amp, thanks!
The clean is divine. If it takes drive pedals well, then it's a real winner.
My Super champ x2 is just awesome.. I was kinda hoping Fender would do a 2x12 version and it seems they may have, altho im not too convinced of the distortions on this 100. Poss the lack of valves which the x2 has giving it a more realistic tone. Thanks for sharing
Great video. How does it take pedals?
So Shane did you keep the amp after?
Great work buddy ❤️🔥
But I've a question does this amp come a pedal foot switch??
it does
Thanks Shane.I've been kickin' around this Amp,Boss Nextone,Lonestar 2x12s.I am totally confused 😏I have a Fender Blues Jr.IV and a Boss GT-1 and then a kustom Sienna 65 watt.Confused yet? I'm trying to go solid state on a higher wattage amp preferably 2x12.I have been leaning to the Fender Champ, the price is good and with the Boss GT-1 I have a few options to dial in a sound I'm bound to be satisfied with. Thanks for your great channel with 👍 topics, never dissapointed!!!😊
I've one fender champion and I got this problem with the voice knob that skips some presets ex i select metal and it plays jazz, what it is?
Awesome would you prefer this over the mustang gt 200? And would you be able to get nirvana tones? Please let me know because I'm confused with which to buy, although i use pedals.
Shane if you had to pick one would it be fender champion 100 peavy bandit 112 or boss katana
I have tryied katana 100 and bought champion 100.. it hase much better clean + I really like some effects like vibratone and tremolo. Distorsion is also great soundingm and with price difference you can buy digitech rp55 and have tons of options.
Tiny Review thanks for your help
Went and got one 2nd hand great condition £100 bargain
may i ask which is better
fender champion 100 or peavey chorus 212? thanks from philippines
Thanks.
Just purchased a Fender player series Telecaster will it sound nice with this amp ? looks like a really good amp for the price, didn't realize how big it was aha
woudl you advise this as first amp? more towards jazz? and warm sounds with the 2x12 projection?
Its an Awesome amp. Does everything you would want or need an amp to do. Why spend huge money for an amp that does and sounds the same as the Champion 100?
Here is the deal I've been using this amp for years and it sounds great and loud However all my pedals are in the loop. Why? Because I love both the distortion and reverb/chorus/delay the amp offers but when my pedals are in front of the amp the distortion changes and doesn't sound as good however in the loop they just work. Strange....
is it strange really? It would be probably the same if you put your OD pedal AFTER your modulation and reverb in your chain. Or did I missunderstood?
I think it is to be expected that distortion will sound bad if the signal goes through reverb/delays first, so there's that.
