Thankfully I have a cousin that used to love baking, so I had all the tools i needed to bake a lot of pandesal! Search "jeanelleats pandesal" online if you want the recipe :)
i want to make ur pandesal recipe to surprise my lola since I’m half filo 😊 by ground cream crackers is it gamesa cookies, sky flakes, or something else?
OOOOH my god, I was not prepared for how utterly adorable your grandmother was. Oh goodness, the little happy dance!!! You make me want to make Thai sweets for my own grandmother. 🥰
idk if the yeast would survive if its the dough that's frozen. But tbh idek if that matters, the yeast staying alive. Lindsay up here could be right, baked pandesal being frozen could be better
@@catcher881 its possible, its already done in most bakeries. You can final proof the bread in the chiller to slow the yeast, and it also made them even tastier. Or you can final proof them, and then freeze them (dont forget to wrap them in plastic wrap). When you wanna use it, proof it in room temp before baking
I think freezing it after baking is easier. That way, grandma only has to reheat it before eating. Less mess to clean up too. It’s not as good as freshly made pandesal, but at least Jeanelle can leave her a year’s supply and she’ll have a little taste of her grandchild’s cooking anytime! Frozen bread lasts a long while in the freezer, you’ll be surprised (as long as its properly cooled beforehand).
@@foxinabox5103it’s not done long term though. The frozen bread will only last about a month or so before it starts to deteriorate and the yeast will die. Cold proofing for a day or so to improve flavor is way different than freezing for longer term storage.

It’s so sweet that you live so far apart, but she can watch your cooking videos. For all the strife that technology causes, sometimes we need to remember the good things it can do. Like bringing people together across the globe. Love to you and your Grandmother ❤
Your grandma reminds me of my Mom. She absolutely loved pandesal, it's something she could eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner - with a generous helping of butter. I miss her. ❤❤❤
This is so lovely…but it also makes me wish I had grandparents. I haven’t had any since I was a small child. Two died when I was a baby. One I hardly remember, but she died when k was small. The last one I didn’t know about, I met him as a baby, and once when I was in middle school. We didn’t speak the same language, and he was dying. I had such a lack of love and support growing up I would’ve done unspeakable things just for a little of this love.
Move closer to grandma. That time you can never get back. You will love the memories and appreciate the time you get. She will not always be around my dear
@gnoot50 Freeze the proofed unbaked dough balls. It will retard the yeast and keep the dough at the state it was frozen. Then the little balls bake up at any time, the dough will then be fresh baked and kept " fresh" or preserved by the freezer. Hope this helps. 🙂
I loooove pandesal!! It’s sooo good! So sweet of you to cook for your grandma. I miss cooking with mine, she passed 6 years ago and I miss her very much. She taught me how to cook. Love you Nana, RIP ✝️💚
You've got some good genes in your family. Your grandmother looks young and radiant. I'm so glad you see her annually and bake her favorite bread. Looks very good.
Watching your videos brings back so many special moments I had with my Lula (*our nickname from Lola!!😂❤) She was my whole life and I miss her everyday. She shared so many stories of her own youth (*born in 1927) because of her I have shared some of these same moments with my own children and them learning their culture and where their family is from. I cannot wait until the day comes when I can bring them home to the Philippines ❤
EVERY TIME without fail your pandesal videos make me want to try it so bad im hoping i can make it one day for myself, you always make it look so tasty!!!
Please try to visit your grandma more😢❤ I lost all my grandparents 3 years ago and I can’t tell you the regret of not making time to see them.. your bread looks great btw
I made this the other day and my family loved it so much that I made two more batches the next day! It’s a fantastic recipe that makes a delicious dough that really is perfectly between sweet and savoury. One of my batches I halved the sugar and did an egg wash on top, it was also very delicious ☺️

Can you freeze the dough so that she can bake up a few at a time?
I think that’s a good idea! Or she could even freeze the bread after it is cooked!

I love it when elderly family members steal food from other people's plates/ tries to take WAY more food than they need :) it's so cute
Gonna have to make a giant batch and freeze it, ready to bake for her. Then she can have some fresh till you come back. 😊❤
I was going to ask whether it freezes well, and if so, she could do that for during the year
i dont know if freezing it would still be considered fresh, or are you talking about the batter? but either way i agree with what you’re saying
