- In North Carolina, hundreds still remain unaccounted for as recovery stemming from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene continues.
Asheville, North Carolina, was arguably hit the hardest, experiencing widespread devastation from flooding. People are still stranded, and roads remain closed, making it difficult to deliver essentials. Emergency workers have now been sending supplies by air truck and even mules.
President Biden is gearing up for a visit to Asheville, NC Wednesday to take an aerial tour of the damage.

It’s a lot more than ASHVILLE
I live in the Upstate of South Carolina, towards the western corner where GA, NC, and SC meet but a little east of that(Spartanburg County, the very north part about 15 minutes from the SC/NC state line) and about 1 hour from Asheville. My Dad is actually from Asheville and we have family in that area that as far as we know are safe but many lost everything. Even here, in my town, riding around to see the damage....we are talking hundred or more years old Oak Trees down with 6-8 ft rootballs. Houses that have been here for hundreds of years, completely destroyed. I was lucky that nothing big fell on my house or yard, and we only went without power for about 3 days. Many are still without and are being told Friday at the EARLIEST. I'm 37, about to be 38, and this is the worst I have ever seen. My thoughts and prayers go out to ANYONE that was impacted by this horrible event.

I heard about a SC. My son lives in Asheville. He's ok but last I heard no power, water or food Sunday. I live on the east coast of Florida. We felt Helene here! Huge wind gusts. It was the biggest hurricane I've ever seen. 300+ miles wide 600 miles long! It covered the whole state of Florida. My heart and prayers go out to all affected by this. ❤
Stop riding around. Gas is hard to come by and emergency services need the roads clear.

Sad probably billions in damage and some houses are probably better off leveled because they can never become "clean."

Come on America you certainly need better building codes which can save property, investment and save lives. I would call upon the USA to build with concrete blocks and steel and not with boards. send your engineers and builders to the Caribbean and especially Jamaica to see how houses are built using concrete blocks and steel. I had to laugh though serious watching that house take off like a boat in water. I am sure the mighty USA can build stronger hurricane houses and buildings. There are quite a few more hurricanes moving towards America.
