    I can’t imagine having to wear the protective gear in the hot humid jungle. Y’all are an exceptional group of caring and loving people to these extraordinary animals. God bless all

      yes yes yes.. even their uniform seems so thick.. actually if it's just hot and dry.. it's still fine. but the combination of hot and high humidity is unbearable. coming from a hill.. visiting singapore and jakarta was a challenge for me..

      Are the face masking normal or just recent I wonder.?

      Thanks for your question! {:(|} Both, actually. The Covid-19 coronavirus is still spreading across Indonesia at an alarming rate. While it is not yet known if the virus is transmittable to orangutans, we are assuming it is since they share 97% of our DNA and are susceptible to many human illnesses including TB and hepatitis. One thing we do know is that the virus is having an immediate effect on staffing and equipment. You can learn more on the Orangutan Outreach website: redapes.org/covid

    My respect just went up another level for these people taking care of the Orangutan's. Having to ware a mask and rubber gloves in the jungle and i complain just going to the store with one on.

    This is just amazing. They follow along with their caregivers and friends so naturally. I just LOVE these precious creatures. As a viewer I’m always nervous that one will get curious and wander off and not find his way back. Has any of the babies ever wandered off??

    • @redapes
      @redapes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep... but they usually wander back. Occasionally the babysitters have to go get them, but this is actually a good sign-- that they are growing independent!

    Gosh, I'm so happy to know those amazing orang surrogate moms aren't also subjected to the highly repetitive death-by-copyright-free music. What could possibly be so bad about the sounds of the orangs and the jungle they're in? Fabulous women. xoxo

    It’s interesting to observe how closely they pay attention to the staff when shown the branches with termites in them. These are very smart creatures and their eyes are near human looking. I can’t understand why a human would shoot them to get an infant for some black market money. It would be impossible for me to believe that not every person living there doesn’t know how endangered orangutans are. Their situation has been brought to the public very intensely.
