I was thinking of doing this myself, especially as I only replaced this gasket (whole housing actually) not 3 yrs ago. It's already cracked and leaking a bit. May just go for the gasket maker as an extra boost.
Yes, that’s the entire thermostat housing. the actual thermostats inside of the housing which is a cheap little $10 part. The housing is around 50 to 60 bucks which I find is easier to install.
Everyone thats posted on this issue has the dual cam zetec engine i have a single cam engine on my se sedan the sparkplug assembly is ontop of the themostat housing im have a hard time removing it to get to the housing any help? Main issue is the wire harness dont know how to remove them
So I changed the thermostat but after 5 minutes of driving the coolant statistics leaking from a hole that is underneath the big and small hose facing the radiator
some genius turned the heater hose clamp in reverse where the screw side is facing the engine haha. answered what i needed to know, has a gasket on the housing so i can just pull off and replace without needing permatex.
Well it still won't start after making sure it's plugged in. I did chip off one of the walls on the part it plugs into. Maybe I need to replace that now?
Best 'how to' I've seen so far covering this job. Well done.
Is it a good idea to dab some gasket maker around the o-ring when installing the housing back onto the head or not?
Ll Lock only if the cylinder head is pitted. If it's clean and smooth just use the O-ring dry.

Wasn’t able to find a housing with the coolant sensor ports plugged. Ended up plugging them with a metal dowel lol. Hope they hold up
Great video thanks
Thermostat is built into it?

For the thermostat only , no need to replace housing.

do you remove the cap off water coolant bottle before removing the thermostat housing?
You can it won't hurt anything. Coolant will drain faster if you do take it off.
great video. thanks for the help
Cesar Cortes glad to help. Thank you for watching!
What size is the engine?
I did this job and now my engine won't crank. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
baconboy222 check the ignition coil make sure it's plugged in in May have gotten unplugged or water coolant on it
Thank you. I figured it had something to do with that harness cause I felt I had pulled out one of the wires on it.
baconboy222 glad you got it figured it out. I've had this happen to me many times myself.

baconboy222 so I need to figure out if he has spark or not. Make sure that it has fuel. Make sure hasn't checked her pulse.
Haha man that some notice of liability in the description, you forgot acts of God and earthquakes. LOL Nice vid buddy.
