  • Is this the Holy Grayl or just the Grey Grayl?! Today I’m putting the Grayl Geopress water filter bottle to the test, complete with taste test! Is it worth the investment? Is it really that easy for novices to use? If I can do it anyone can so I put it to the test, I’ll give you my honest opinion so you can consider if it’s right for you.#GraylGeopress #WaterFilterBottleReview #TasteTest #OutdoorGear

I bought at Sawyer squeeze mini and a foldable bottle for the dirty water (Hydrapak Flux 1), not that cheap but it's for backpacking the coastal path and they work well together. I tried it at a Cornwall campsite and it definitely tasted nicer than tap water. 😋 (They cost £60 + £20). I'll probably not pay attention and just drink straight out the cow pat water knowing me.

Hello, thank you! I think the big one is supposed to last about a year with daily use I think it said 350l, but a new filter is £30 so again not cheap. However a lot of the cheaper ones I think do not filter out all the things that this one does so it’s swings and roundabouts I guess! 😊

If you're going to be using a filter for hiking too, a better option might be the following setup. Much lighter...
Camelback hydration bladder (other brands avaiable), with a camelback filter (activated carbon). Then use a sawyer mini/squeese.
You can keep the mini seperate, or at it inline, on the hose (although the does restrict the flow, so you have to suck much harder).
I prefer to filter the water going into the bladder, personalty.

I use a Pure Clear water filter (made in UK) which come in different configurations. I have a rigid ¾ litre bottle for daily use and a 1 litre soft (collapsible) bottle for hiking. The filtering is easy as well. The reason these charcoal filters have limited life is that they filter viruses and heavy metals whereas many filters do not - being limited to bacteria only. The cost of Pure Clear filter bottles are less than £40. The filters can last up to 1400 litres - I change my filter every few months letting it dry out completely in between. I do use mine quite a lot as I filter all my water and also ensure my dog drinks the same as I do - Im not poisoning him with yukky tap water. I also often add quality electrolytes to our water. Safe travels......

I'm surprised they didn't actually say the instructions to rinse out the device before using it. Normally anything you buy has manufacturing residue.. Maybe with use that will disappear. What made you decide not to go for something with active carbon? Particularly as the taste of the water is important? Also how expensive are replacement filters, how much water could you filter per filter?
Now I've got an image of you in your camper it's raining outside and you're thinking b***** going out side to use my filter but you have to. You're really keen to beat that 8 second time so you adopt a handstand pose 🤸🏼‍♀️ on top of your filter. 😂 You did get to show off your very impressive triceps though! Respect! You'll have guns the envy of everyone before long. 💪 maybe the company should market the product as an exercise machine?🤔🤣
Your demonstration makes it easy to understand why desalinisation plants consume so much power and aren't particularly environmentally friendly.
BTW, you are really rocking the remembrance armband. I'm excited for you to see what your future adventures entail.

I expect that’s why no one will ever pay me to review their products 🤣 yeah I’m sure it didn’t, but maybe they assumed people would realise they should wash it first?! Honestly that water was nasty though so perhaps unrealistic of me to expect it to turn into wine. That bottle does have carbon in, i think i just can’t speak properly because it did sounds like I was saying i didn’t want that whereas infact i was saying i did! 🤭 i think the replacement filter is £30 and it does 350l of water, it reckoned if you used it daily you’d need to replace the filter in a year.
Hmm that a good idea, i did used to specialise in hand stand walking when i did CrossFit to perhaps that could be a good method to try with the bottle! They definitely should market it as a guns workout though, that part of the cost!
Thank you, even though Miss Nancy only wore it when she was ill which isn’t a time i like remembering I’m very attached to it still. To all her things really.

@@missnancysdayoff 🤣 when you garner enough subscribers you'll definitely have everybody and their uncle trying to get you to sell their wares. It will just come with time. The way you present still compels the viewer to watch which is the secret sauce in what you do. It's nuanced and complex and has a lot to do with your own innate values, skills and qualities but it all plays in to a heady mix that produces compelling content. I'm sure that is what advertisers want? 💬
🤣 good it's got a carbon filter, have you played with the idea of using a UV light as well? 350 litres sounds good.
CrossFit, yet another string to your bow. Do you think you would explain more about this in a future video? Of course with van life there are plenty of opportunities for exercise in walking and swimming but do you place any value in a type of fitness regime that you can do whilst travelling that ensures you exercise and stretch the whole body?
No I totally get it, I've kept all sorts of things, I mentioned in a different post reply about keeping some fur. But I have toys and other things. They're in a box and it's very rare that I can actually bring myself to open that box but I wouldn't part with it either.

    • @missnancysdayoff
      @missnancysdayoff  หลายเดือนก่อน

@Melatiah sadly I haven’t done CrossFit for a few years (actually once I got Nancy I just didn’t have so much time for it and never really got back into it after taking a break to get her settled) which is a shame because I was super fit a buff and now I’m just tired and squishy round the edges 🤣 honestly i find it really hard in the van to stick to any kind of routine, i only wish I did have an exercise plan to stick to because it would make me feel a lot better. For sure I could come up with one, but I’m pretty useless at the moment.
It’s often to hard to look but knowing they are there is still good. I try not to do it often as I am preserving it but sometimes I open the box with her fur in and have a deep inhale 💔

@@missnancysdayoff 🤣 aww 'squishy around the edges' well if it's any consolation you don't look squishy around the edges, rather you look healthily athletic. I'm sure you are a beacon of encouragement to others who wish to get into shape. I get that, routine being difficult to maintain whilst traveling in a van, I think whenever I travel it's a lot to do with going with the flow and actually freeing yourself from a much more structured and regimented life which is inevitable when you are static for long periods of time. So in many ways it's probably good just to embrace the lack of regime? 💬
I was watching a TED talk the other day about the importance of putting joints and limbs through a full range of motion, this encourages optimum joint health. Therefore they suggested any type of stretching, pilates, yoga and these sorts of things that enable you to express the full range of movement through the joints. I really enjoy doing tai chi and qi gong which is excellent for coordination and joined health. Do you think you would consider something like this perhaps?
Tori you are not 'useless' in this moment or any other, far from it. The motivation for all this sort of thing will come when it's the right time. It's not the right time, you're still in the healing process. Besides getting out for walks particularly if you can do that practically every day is in itself brilliant. 👍
'deep inhale' I so relate with you ...

Blimey, £80! That's a lot of money! However, I have happily drunk water out of many a mountain stream, ditto from lowland streams but that is far more dubious! In fairness, I either have a strong constitution or happened to pick relatively safe streams - I've never had a problem so far as I know. If anyone intends to do the same, NEVER drink from a stream within 24hrs of heavy rain because there is a lot of run off from cattle pasture and so a massive spike in E. coli
Nowadays I always filter "wild" water mainly because of those pesky chemicals spread on fields by farmers. (except in true highlands)
For non-Brits - approx 9 and a half stone = 60kg (for most of the world) or 130 lbs (for Americans)
"User ability" ... seems poorly worded! But a great opportunity to practice yoga positions and balance

    • @missnancysdayoff

Yeah it’s way expensive! Have you, I don’t think I ever have even though sometimes it looks lovely, I guess I would from a high stream! Maybe you do have a strong stomach, I’d not be keen on drinking g whoever had been toileting the the water , although when you think about it like that even filtering it doesn’t feel too good 🙈 and chemicals from farming as you say, it sucks.
I have actually improving a bit I think so maybe I can move up to entry level ability, it’s not really faster though!

@@missnancysdayoff I worked in forestry in Scotland for quite a while and had no qualms about getting down on my hands and knees and drinking like a dog on hot days! What a wonderful picture that creates. Not. The only real issue I was concerned about was checking there was no dead sheep in the stream above where I was drinking!
I've been assuming that there are no houses higher up the stream/river and no discharge of any 'effluent' from anywhere.
I wouldn't drink from a lowland waterway that has houses without having an extremely good filter - and £80 suddenly looks very reasonable in that situation! It would give you peace of mind.
