I did the Gunshot in 1989 in a FJ45. It's legendary. Between that and crossing the Jardine River (saved a few bucks not using the Ferry) the trip up to the Cape is one of the best trips you can do in Australia. No Gazetted roads to the Tip back then all hard core 4x4 all the way👍

The local guys, (indigenous), have been doing car trips up and down a lot of it for many years in old Holdens and Ford Falcons etc. I'm full of admiration for their skill in achieving where they go in vehicles that are not four wheelers. Us boys get up there in our super "pimped out" four wheelers and can still get into trouble with ease.

I don't understand why that tele track entry is so steep? Has it been eroded over the years or is there a less steep entry for the less experienced? I know it's a challenging trip but seems like it could damage your vehicle from the off?🤔🤔🤔🤔🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
