Hi, Robyn. I bought your book and through it, found you on youTube! I appreciate how clear your instructions are. You make a point, you demonstrate, you re-iterate what the demo was for. You tell us what to do and what not to do, how to know when we’ve done it wrong or right. And there is no background music (big hurray for that.) Could you please do a tutorial on the different types of paint vis a vis viscosity, translucency/opaqueness? Thank you.
Ms. Robyn, I can't begin to express how great an instructor you are in this. You explain the nuanced technique in understandable means. And every pull is breathtaking.
Wow! Robyn, thank you so much for this video! I been using my gelli plate, on and off for at least five years, and I now DO believe that I've been using too much paint! I really had no idea.
I love these 10 minute tutorials! They are concise, targeted, and I learn something each time. This is a brilliant idea!Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Off brayer lesson was great! Thanks for showing how much paint is too much!! All guilty of this from time to time when we get caught up in the moment of adding paint in a hurry.
I’ve been following you for just over a year - I’m new to mixed media and love all your tips. Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge and talent. “Off brayer”
Thank you so much for this refresher! I had not done any mono printing for over a year. When I was able to start artwork again, I couldn’t figure out why I was totally missing the mark on my prints-well, too much paint on the plate! I love you work, so glad I found you.
Hi, I'm so glad I found you on here. Thank you for a superb tutorial for people at all levels in Gelli plate printing. I am very new to it and have found your video very helpful indeed. I hope you have a great weekend. It is Saturday 1.30pm here in the UK, so I'm not sure what time it is for you in the USA? xx
Off brayer - I love working in layers the way you taught me! It's helped me progress more quickly in achieving gelli prints I love. Also, congratulations on 20K and beyond TH-cam subscribers! You are on your way to achieving your 40K goal.
Hi Robyn, This tutorial is simple and yet so helpful! It really makes the difference between producing simplistic splodges and more subtle work. Thank you very much (new subscriber!)
Gorgeous prints, if you are a starter can't you better roll your paint on to your brayer beside the plate instead of on the plate so you can manage more the amount of paint you put on? Thanks again for a great workshop, stay safe and have a wonderful day😍❤
Dear Robyn, Thank you so much for all you do!!! You are so generous. I have been watching your tutorials for quite awhile. in some of your older tutorials use used Mylar or some type of transparency film. Would love to type this technique. Would you please share the process? Thank you again!
Hi Robyn. You mentioned going light to dark with your layering but it feels like you went the other way in this demo? Or more like opaque to transparent?
Both really. ✨ This is a more in depth color theory question. So yes the Turquoise was indeed opaque compared to the quinacridone which was translucent. So that was "light to dark" from a color standpoint but "dark to light" from a transparency (How much light passes through) standpoint. ...In this example I couldn't have put the quinacridone down first because the opaque turquoise would have covered it. However I could have put down a thicker layer of quinacridone and then a thin layer of the turquoise. and that would have been "dark to light" from a color standpoint but still "Light to dark" from a transparency standpoint. The white went down on top of the "dark" quinacridone but it was used as a "glaze" because I knew wanted to be able to see the color underneath.
These videos are like gold to me! Awesome! Speaking of gold and available funds, if I can only afford 2 high-quality paints to add to my collection, which colors would you suggest? I was considering black and quinachridone (sp?) red. Thank you!
off brayering...thanks for the tips! I sometimes have problems with my rice paper sticking and tearing on the plate....is that too much or too little paint?
@@RobynMcClendon I want to make journals as gifts that grandchildren can use for journaling their thoughts and experiences. I know that sometimes you add pockets or journaling cards and I really love that. I am learning so many beautiful techniques from your classes. I would love for my journals to be invitations for the recipient to continue the process rather than feel they are finished by me. I guess not just the art process but journaling their own lives and even adding photos.

"Off Brayer" is a very important trick I teach my high school students during our printmaking unit. They are so heavy handed with the paint.
Off brayer, great tips

Thank you for the "off brayering" suggestion. I also want to incorporate more journaling and photos into my journals. Do you have a class on that?
Hi Donna! When you say incorporate more journaling into your journals...could you elaborate?

Love all these workshop videos Robyn :D Do you think you could do one on the magazine image transfer technique? :D xxx
Loved the video:) Which glue do I use and when? Also what is cellulose glue? And how do I use it?
It's all about the off brayer!
Off brayer!
With izinks. Do you spray them afterwards when dry to glue down and collage with. They seem to bleed.
Off brayer 😃😃
Is there a way to make the paint more "transparent"? Is there something it can be mixed with to change the density of it?
Hi, you can use an acrylic paint extender that can give more open time and create transparency :)
Thanks for sharing. 🤗 Off brayer.
Off brayer 😁
This is live
What Quinn o done us that?
