The richness of the singer's voice (is that Mohamed Motamedi? I haven't learned Farsi yet)puts out a solid feeling of strength here, at least to my ears, and makes me want to go out and do something serious. I like it, keeps the blood flowing. Of course, since I don't know Farsi I have no idea what the song was about, but even that problem doesn't make me want to turn it down. The singer both looks and sounds like Mohamed Motamedi to me. I saw him and Rosario in performance here in Boston a year or two ago. It was, for me, a riveting performance and the rest of the audience seemed to feel the same way. It was the first time I'd heard a performance of that kind of music. It took the first song for me to arrange my brain to take in the music, but by the end of the second song the whole ensemble (yes, they brought wonderful musicians) had seemingly convinced the whole audience that this was a good thing.
Hey Carol. First many thanks of your experesion about Iranian music and singer. To inform you he is Mohammad Motamedi. If you want to hear a magnificent of Iranian singer, I recommend you to listen to music of King of voice of Iran "Mohammadreza Shajarian". I promise you can not wait for Persian song.
Carol, thanks or the kind remarks. As they say, poetry is what's lost in translation, and this could not be any more true and especially in the case of this master of poetry, Rumi. It would be nearly impossible to translate this into anything of value in English. Just take refuge in the fact that the lyrics are just wonderful .... and as expected about love, devotion and eternity.
