Walking Robot Project - Klann Mechanism

- This is our bachelor assignment. Our objective was to design and construct a walking mechanism. We chose to use the Klann mechanism for the design of the legs. The robot is made out of steel and aluminium. The gears and the legs were lasercut by a specialized company, all other parts were made by hand.

Nice job optimizing the leg mechanism for straight-line motion while on the ground. Not a lot of wasted chassis up & down motion. Great job!

Good job!...It seems though that rubber pads underneath the legs will increase the friction between legs and ground and the movement will be smoother.

Please help me understand, assuming the crank turns at a constant speed, do the tips of the legs move at constant velocity as well? I am assuming that is the function of the extra linkages, the same with Theo Jansens mechanism? Otherwise, people would be building simple machines like mine. But then a convention motor/transmission would make the motion too jerky

What material did you use, also the motors you used my students are trying it with stepper motors and they used 3mm mild steel sheets.
