Pawn shops are the greatest! My best pawn shop find ever was a 1970 Strat. I paid $400 for it and sold it to a collector for $9,000. 😊 That was a once in a lifetime score.
If you got that thing for 1100 bucks that’s a great deal. That’s amazing. Sounds wonderful. You got the intonation just spot on. I can hear it. Nice job.
30 year old guitar. Nice find! We use to the Nashville pawn shops 10-15 years ago and buy a few MIM fenders and flip them in Lawrence Co. There was a place on Nolensville rd close to Nashville New and Used that gave us a heck of a deal on a bundle of guitars.
That looks like a very nice bargain you have there, especially from what I see on the Guitar Show vids by the traders on YT. Regarding the lock stringing complaint: I have been using that method for years, learnt from a Martin Guitar manual. It is the neatest way I know of restringing that gives consistently tidy tuning posts with no sticky out sharp ends to catch ones fingers on. PS, the pots are mounted on the plate by a nut, so you have to take them out on the plate, but just unbolt the one to be replaced. Nice Beatles medley in the demo. Enjoyed the vid.
Killer guitar, Marty! You've got such a great eye for the deals. That thing is a slab of wood for sure! Great choice of tone as well, to show us what that thing will do. Man. Sounds soooo good. Like a Gibson! Just an amazing guitar. Jo-Jo was a man.... who thought he was a woman. But.... oh never mind. Rock on, and Happy New Year, Brother!
Nice Les Paul! Happy New Year. I remember going to Nashville in the 90's and seeing the Gibson Bus on 65. Also saw the Nash Trash bus while I was walking in Nashville. They slowed down and yelled at me Meatloaf You Rock. LOL
Dang, what a way to start off the new year with an awesome find and deal! Part of the fun is cleaning and inspecting in detail! At least they allowed you inspect the pickups and everything else you wanted to check.
Those indents came from my capo! Light bulb moment! Thx. I just recrowned two guitars yesterday because of that. I just couldn't figure out. I knew it wasn't from how or what I played. Gonna have designated capo machines now. May have to break down and look at some steel frets.
Happy New years 2025 Marty. I didn't know you lived in Nashville. It seems like all you good guitarists flock to this place. Even my guitar teacher lives there. Peace 🕊️.
Congratulations on a fun find at a great price point, well done!💥 also I want to tell you how much I appreciate the various content you offer on your channel. I recently purchased a Zep Theremin after seeing your demo. Great value on an excellent Theremin! I’m still in the honeymoon phase and enjoying it is great fun, again I thank you for your insights.
Happy New Year Marty, What a Score there are deals out there you just gotta get out there and look ,I’m like you I never really liked Cherry Sunburst either but for the price it’s a steal!!
@ …lizard spit polish pads are good too but the best I found is the FRTLZR system…you have to polish through about 20 grits but it does a fantastic job…nothing beats sandpaper and micro mesh
Great video I enjoyed watching it. Good score on that 95 Standard Good Way to start out the New Year’s.. you mentioned you use lemon oil, I was a bricklayer for 38 years and we used mahogany levels which were pretty pricey. $200 apiece and the recommendation to oil them up with boiled linseed oil so I use the boiled linseed oil on my fretboard. do you think there’s a problem with that? Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching man! I am super happy with the score! Boiled linseed oil probably will work just fine as long as the drying process doesn't take too long. I don't think it would mess anything g up. It's just really oily!
Hard to tell the difference between a Classic and Standard for 95. Edit: LPC for Classic and LPS for Standard Im the bridge cavity. Nice catch. Still a great price for a 95 LPC.
Remember, your always in the market for guitars/gear. Theres never too many! 🤘🏻😝 Wow, that $600 Ovation acoustic is beautiful! The case alone for that LP is probably 3-4 hundred bucks.
Replacing frets is time consuming and you need the right tools. I have a few vintage guitars I refretted and boy is it worth it. Especially on this early 70's Japanese LP copy which sounded great but it had the low/wide frettless wonders. Now it plays as good as it sounds.
That Crate Blue voodoo looked like a good buy I have one and absolutely love it got great distortion and gain plus clean channel sounds good also plus have matching cabinet
Damn! Just over a grand? Great deal! I thought the asking price of $1695 was reasonable. I use D’addario 9’s as well. Love the bluegrass version of Aqualung! Rock on bro!
Nice LP. I live in Eastern Oregon right on the Idaho border and a good friend of mine from Texas was visiting back in 1978 after I got back from my first year from college Oregon State University. We went on over to Boise and hit the pawn shops and he found an 1974 sunburst LP standard and he got it for $600. I haven't seen him since he went back to Texas after that summer 78. He was a guitar player in a Tex-mex country band I do have a picture of both of us playing guitars. I had an original cream color Fender telecaster rosewood fret board. Also had the turtle shell cover on the strings where I would rest my hand while playing. Sold it for $1599 back in 1990. I played in a Tex-mex band for a in the early 80s until the others moved out of the area.
Marty !!! That looks like the first Les Paul I ever bought,I believe she was a ‘92 I was such a young fool 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ and traded it for a beautiful Gibson acoustic Mine came with a chainsaw case , I miss it so much ! Great find!!
I like cherry sunburst LPs but that blue one looked good too. The problem with pawn shops these days is, they have internet access to check average selling prices and set their prices accordingly. Have you tried Goodwill?
Nice score! You stole that thing... wanna make a quick hundred bucks profit? lol Surprised you didn't look under the pickguard at least to clean it and see if/how much the finish faded over the years and check if the nut indented the finish at all (before they started putting felt under them). Could also be hiding pick scratches if the previous owner was a "pickguard off" guy.
A 90's Standard? JUst over a grand? That's striking gold twice!! Congrats man!! You got lucky!!
Pawn shops are the greatest! My best pawn shop find ever was a 1970 Strat. I paid $400 for it and sold it to a collector for $9,000. 😊 That was a once in a lifetime score.
That looks phenomenal for a 30 years old guitar. Nice find
Im liking the banjo version of Auqalung!
Excellent.
Bluegrass Jethro Tull👍
@eddiejr540 Auqalung is bending to pet the chicken. Lol
"Swampa Lung"
So am I
If you got that thing for 1100 bucks that’s a great deal. That’s amazing. Sounds wonderful. You got the intonation just spot on. I can hear it. Nice job.
Man what a score that thing is cherry! well done Marty!

Beyond awesome! What in the dad gum, holy cow world are you playing that thing through? Tone is perfect.
Great find Marty. I live in New Orleans and we find deals all the time down here at pawnshops. Keep rockin!!!!
Congrats on a GREAT find man. I also enjoyed the choice of demo music. Sweet!
Well done, Marty!! It sounds fantastic and I love your choices of songs!! Keep on pickin' and grinnin'!
Dude I love the "plain" tops!!
Great find Dude
Exactly my thought. I love the plain tops

Beautiful guitar..Marty is a cool guy I've watched all his videos and have learned a lot... happy new year..
Fantastic buy, looks and sounds killer, good way to start the New Year

Happy new year Marty, nice find dude!!!sounds great!
Sweet I was painfully looking at my frets while playing today. Time for a big buy one body 2 necks one to always have on the bench
490R Alnico II humbucker in the neck and a Hot Alnico V 498T in the bridge, those were good wood years in the 90's
I love your Cherry Burst Les Paul gear find, Cherry Burst is my favorite LP guitar color and it sounds great to boot.
Scheiße by the table! Thats funny! Happy New Year Marty! Keep the great videos coming for 2024!
I had to look at it twice to make sure that's what it said. High School German was 40 years ago, LOL
Really enjoyed the video from start to finish nice find and great job all the way around 5+ stars and loved the Beatles tune at the end ❤
You _DAWG!_ 🎸🃏🥁
What a find and a cool case too.

Happy 2025, keep up great videos!!
Nice Les Paul! Happy New Year. I remember going to Nashville in the 90's and seeing the Gibson Bus on 65. Also saw the Nash Trash bus while I was walking in Nashville. They slowed down and yelled at me Meatloaf You Rock. LOL

Dude. Score! I’m so jealous!!!
When we vacationed there years ago I wanted to do this soooo bad and definitely will next time I’m there! Thanks Marty!
Thanks Marty, happy new year and wishing you good health for 25!
Those Les Pauls from the early to mid 1990's are great! What a deal you got, good for you.
Nice find. I like Berry's. Ive bought some stuff there.
Nice find! Cool 🤘 Thanks Marty 🤘
Happy new year Marty, your new guitar looks and sounds great! Loved hearing the Beatles licks for the demo.
Hella deal! Nice harvest on that one.
Those indents came from my capo! Light bulb moment! Thx. I just recrowned two guitars yesterday because of that. I just couldn't figure out. I knew it wasn't from how or what I played. Gonna have designated capo machines now. May have to break down and look at some steel frets.
Are you able to do a recross without doing a fret level? And thanks for the tip on capos.
Happy New years 2025 Marty. I didn't know you lived in Nashville. It seems like all you good guitarists flock to this place. Even my guitar teacher lives there. Peace 🕊️.
That's a lucky draw ! You made it look good, sound good (setup) all for a great price. Congrats: enjoy !

I recently purchased a Zep Theremin after seeing your demo. Great value on an excellent Theremin! I’m still in the honeymoon phase and enjoying it is great fun, again I thank you for your insights.
One thing I like about your guitar overhauls is I learn how to do it the right way and enjoy your pick of polishes .
Happy New Year Marty, What a Score there are deals out there you just gotta get out there and look ,I’m like you I never really liked Cherry Sunburst either but for the price it’s a steal!!

Great score with the LP Marty…that frine is good stuff…I’ve even used it on my wife’s jewelry 👍
I have to get some of that. I use ultra fine rubbing compound.
@ …lizard spit polish pads are good too but the best I found is the FRTLZR system…you have to polish through about 20 grits but it does a fantastic job…nothing beats sandpaper and micro mesh

I’ve a 97 ebony standard and a 98 1960 classic. That is a really nice find!
LPC in bridge cavity "Les Paul classic" plain top, nice catch.
Hard to tell the difference between a Classic and Standard for 95. Edit: LPC for Classic and LPS for Standard Im the bridge cavity. Nice catch. Still a great price for a 95 LPC.
Lucky dog. 1000 bucks. Wasn’t much of a safari. Great find. Congrats

Great find Marty! Happy New Year!
Thanks man! Happy New Year! Kicked it off with a huge cold. 🥶

Great video..what a beauty..nice find..I need to learn how to maintain my guitars myself 😊.
Happy New Year, 🥳Marty!! Keep rockin' the channel Friend!✌
Good score! Gotta try em all out every year every brand. #bringbacktheblanket
Nice, I like those pickups but swapped the magnets so I had the a2 in the 498 and the a5 in the 490
I love the sandcast A5 for bridge and sandcast A4 for neck. Sounds so much better, especially with 50s wiring
Damn! Just over a grand? Great deal! I thought the asking price of $1695 was reasonable. I use D’addario 9’s as well. Love the bluegrass version of Aqualung! Rock on bro!
What a deal. Happy New Year.
That's so funny. That's the same place I go looking for stuff. It's like a quarter mile from my apt. LOL!
Nice LP. I live in Eastern Oregon right on the Idaho border and a good friend of mine from Texas was visiting back in 1978 after I got back from my first year from college Oregon State University. A great vintage guitar? The Gibson Chet Atkins model. It’s very heavy but sounds amazing. Great find Marty. Nice tone.
Great find, Marty!
Nice find Marty,sound nice.🤘
Nice find!
I hope I can find that you made a tutorial for, Get Back!
That sounded sweet!
GREAT FIND!!!! Great price.
Marty !!!
That looks like the first Les Paul I ever bought,I believe she was a ‘92
I was such a young fool 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ and traded it for a beautiful Gibson acoustic
Mine came with a chainsaw case , I miss it so much ! Great find!!
A beauty 🤘🏻
Man, what a deal!
Nice guitar. I like the cherry burst
That's a steal for a grand.
Thanks! I didn't specify. It was around 1200 but still a great deal.
Good find
Very good!
Very nice! I once had the Les Paul Honeyburst from the Nashville Plant 2001 built. Traded it for a Fender 78’ Blackmore strat! Both damn good guitars❤
Novus-2 works great for frets or polishing plastic/ polishing a finish etc.
Great find Brother ! Gonna have to tag a long on a safari someday.😊🎶
Thanks man! It was a great find! Hope we get a chance to Safari! 🤘
happy new year marty !
nice score, congrats
Nice score, always nice when you can get a nice Standard, Traditional or Classics for a little over $1K🤘😎🎸
sweet, what a bargain
I haven't gone pawn shopping in awhile. I'm semi retired now and need to get back at it!!!!
In the bridge cavity it had LPC.. Les Paul Classic?
I like cherry sunburst LPs but that blue one looked good too.
The problem with pawn shops these days is, they have internet access to check average selling prices and set their prices accordingly.
Have you tried Goodwill?
Yep, that bluegrass version of Aqualung caught someone's attention! LOL 😂🤣
A deal 4 sure!
I love Berry's. Been going there 30 years
Nice pickup!

Bc rich at the the first pawn I would have aim at it😮❤❤❤❤
