These dogs are amazing. I had a border colly from a good line. I used to think these dogs were trained to do these things, but i found out just how much it is instinct and bred into them. These dogs will herd your children if you dont have sheep. She would play a game were she would try to sneak up on you to nip your heels or foot then run off. This is what theyll do if they dont have something to do. They need to be kept busy. So smart and can learn things so quickly its amazing.

People should have no doubt border collies really are very special dogs, even those who are not working dogs. My sister had one who lived his entire life in a town never seeing a sheep, and as all border collie owners know there just is no way to describe how intelligent these dogs are, you have to experience it. And that aside I would like to mention how instinctive the work is to these herding dogs. My sisters border collie, who I mentioned never saw a sheep in his life, still instinctively acted like a sheep dog. If we were in a park with other dogs and we threw a ball or a stick for the dogs they would chase it. The border collie would not chase it, that's below him. What he did was chase the chasing dogs, nipping ever so gently away at their heels exactly like these sheep dogs with the sheep. With no training at all, it's amazing to watch and incidentally they're amazingly fast close up.
