I agree with the board 100% on this one. I also caught the comment he made when speaking to Ms. Jackson and she said “you murdered your wife” and he quickly corrected it and said “manslaughter”… sir, just because you were given a deal and plead guilty to manslaughter, does not change the fact that you MURDERED your wife! Not to mention what he did to his children… left her body for the son to find. This man already got the deal of a lifetime with a 30 year sentence 🤯

IMO, whenever the applicant’s first response to the panel’s question, “Tell us how and why you came to commit this offense,” begins with a third-party reference (e.g., “my wife did/said ...”; “he/she/they did something”; etc.), then the applicant has not fully or really learned personal accountability for their own consequential actions.

One of the issues is what happens after his sentence is finished.
He got 30 years. Most likely he pled guilty to manslaughter so he could get parole. Then there's no trial and his kids don't have to go through that.
Then after 20 years he wants parole.
So you make him serve the whole sentence of 30. After that finishes NO-ONE is watching him. There appears to be no program of any form.
You can't supervise someone who has finished their sentence.
I would imagine they could seek a apprehended violence order (whatever they are where he is) and that would set some conditions.
However, if he does the whole 30 no-one is watching him or supporting to make sure he isn't going to try to contact them.
If he gets on parole, he should be supervised and have conditions of supervision.
That way he's being watched and if he breaches, then he goes back in.
I'm not arguing that I would want him released. It would be better if he had a life sentence.
I'm just explaining that parole (certainly in the last 5 years or so) can be better than serving the whole lot and then having no plan you can implement.

I found that odd the other day on a case too. A guy asking for parole after only 3 years of a 17 year sentence. Someone commented that the inmates aren’t the ones who request these parole hearings, they’re arranged by the jail or whoever and the inmate has to attend. I don’t know if that’s true or what though. I can understand parole hearings towards the end of a sentence, maybe around the 60-70% time of the sentence served then start the parole process. But these serve a couple years when you’re looking at double digits is blowing my mind. I also haven’t seen anyone get granted parole in these situations where they’re in long term and have barely served so I guess that’s good. But it seems like a waste of time, this shouldn’t even be in front of the board yet. I’m sure there’s plenty of other inmates who are actually ready for parole. We might actually make a dent in crowded jails if we could conduct these meetings in a timely manner and not waste time on these guys who still have plenty of time left and clearly haven’t even begun rehabilitation bc they haven’t even accepted accountability…yet…if ever.

Sure, like the way he respected the restraining order. Let him rot in prison!

Exactly…they have to notify you if an order of protection is involved.
They make sure the person who caused the PO is fully aware of what’s in the order, how long it’s for, and the consequences of breaking it.
For me, my first PO was for a year and the second was for 5 years (same guy, same incident I just renewed the order after the year was up) and if he was dumb enough to break it they would consider it a federal crime and he’d get up to 5 years in prison.
When it’s something as serious as this the perpetrator is required to know about it first. How they are notified varies from state to state (some require in person court hearings while others will either call, email, or send a letter which is the most common) but they can’t set the order in place until the other person has been notified. So he’s lying through his teeth. Actually, I’m having a hard time differentiating between the truth and lies every time he opens his mouth!
That monster is right where he belongs.

There's an advocate, and there's an apologist. His female attorney's closing argument for him was inappropriate.
And I'm so tired of hearing that because they'll get out and be unsupervised eventually, they should get out now. _Especially_ with someone like him (who committed a crime of explosive violence), a 2027 release is a guarantee of safety until 2027, and that's all. If prison hasn't changed him, a few years of supervision wouldn't change him, either. All it would do is add more time where his victims are vulnerable. The argument that it gives time to work out restrictions to make the victim comfortable is especially absurd in a case where the man proved a restraining order is just a piece of paper when he killed his wife.
(I'm also _baffled_ as to how this is one of the hardest cases the board member has ever had. This is, in fact, an extraordinarily easy case, especially in light of the letters sent to his daughter saying he can't believe they cut him out of their lives. _That_ is exactly who he was, and still is.)

He should only be released in a small card board box deceased. The prosecutor failed the victim and her children for not getting premeditated first degree murder. From the guy this was well thought out. He had 3 weeks to think about how to murder her and I doubt she stabbed him he probably stabbed himself and blamed the victim. He continued to blame the victim and minimized his fault. His poor children want nothing to do with this monster. He should've only had 2 outcomes in court natural life or the death penalty. Im in California where we don't have the death penalty but still give it to the defendants which I believe we will again put people to death again someday. This guy violently murdered his children's mother and he shouldn't of gotten any mercy or grace and absolutely no leniency should've been given. He is a old angry man and is a threat to any community he is released to. I can put her him with anger issues behind driving and him shooting at another driver who pisses him off either man or woman and regardless if there is children in the car. Look at his first crime of stabbing his wife Infront of his children. He felt disrespected that his wife didn't want him no more and moved on and he killed her so no one else could be with her. For the son to even have to say he’s wondered if he could be pushed to do the same then talk about how his wife left him and she’s still alive and well and their still great parents to their child. So where did he go when evening came and he couldn’t be out selfishly golfing and swilling alcohol? Why of course he went home. And then his family, especially his wife, was forced to deal with his drunkenness. Time after time. If his wife was terrified of him (which she was) she wouldn’t have said she had affairs with 2 of his friends. He’s a liar. That would have set his rage off.

The audio is horrible. Louisiana should have a better audio feed than what is in this clip. Why shouldn't these sessions be in the public eye? It's a public proceeding.

I’m not hearing he’s a danger to society. I think it’s who his wife was. Someone commented that her obituary was glowing with many supporters. Maybe she was well liked? His adjusted date is 4 years away no conditions. I don’t know if he’s my father I would have spoken out against him seeing how afraid of him his kids are.

@@Gaia007he called her “it”. It shows how emotionally disconnected he is. A remorseful person would’ve said “I shouldn’t have left her there” showing she’s a person ..but he said “I shouldn’t have left it there “ referring to her body that he left for his son to find. He sounds more manipulative to me-that’s just me tho

The first thought and words in response to “Why did you do this” should be, “Because *I ... .”*

He took anger management courses before he knew he would be paroled. Big Deal. He took anger classes because he knows if he snapped at one of those inmates they would lay his old ass down where it belongs in a shallow grave.
