The true irony of "Godzilla's Revenge" is that it was directed by Ishiro Honda, the creator of the Dai Kaiju Eiga genre, who went into semi-retirement after this film. From what I read about Honda, he was tired of directing monster movies, yearning to direct other genres like social dramas and comedies. In a way, this film is similar to a social drama (the hero is a latchkey kid), but was mishandled, mostly hampered by a lame script by Shinichi Sekizawa. Perhaps Honda was so sick of directing Godzilla movies that he sabotaged his own film in order to stop the trend. It didn't work. Honda was clearing showing his dissatisfaction with his next G flick, "The Terror of Mechagodzilla" (1975), which suffered from schizophrenia, not knowing whether to be a Shakespearean tragedy for adults or a silly monster movie for kids. And Honda probably found working with child actors annoying, especially these brats. Hell, he kills two brats in "The Terror of Mechagodzilla". Noriaki Yuasa did a better job working with child actors in the Gamera movies. Honda also directed the special effects as Eiji Tsuburaya was too sick to direct. He still gave Tsuburaya the credit. Overall, I have to agree, this one's a real stinker...

It IS! And it isn’t.... If you like to wolf down a few cold brews to increase the entertainment value of viewing it in a more positive light, you will definitely see a stark contrast in enjoyability. I would do the same with certain non-verbal cartoons or run of the mill animation classics with little voiceover (the ACME Loony Tunes or classic Tom & Jerry; or claymation features were some of the best for that style ‘Chug-a-lug’). It was very B.R.C. Before Robot Chicken.
When he was talking about not fighting back when being kidnapped. DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM. You need to struggle as much as possible and scream really loud. Make it as difficult as possible for them to take you from point A to point B
by the way, I think why this moral lesson is so bad, maybe so that way they can get more actors and need some more people for future godzilla films and that way they can get more money for better Godzilla films because after Destroy All Monster's high budget, TOHO lost a lot of money, but many people wanted more godzilla films, but due to the previous film's high budget, Ishirō Honda had to make this film and because the high budget the previous film had and lost the money they had for the previous film too, this is why there was a lot of stock footage, so TOHO cannot go to bankrupcy, also which he made this moral lesson and film so that more people can go to TOHO and start acting for more monster action and more money when the kids are now adults so TOHO can be all what they were like before Destroy All Monsters.
When it came out (It was part of a double-feature with "Island of the Burning Damned") we kids packed the movie theater. It might be silly to look back on now, but it was an awesome movie to all us 5th and 6th graders, the real audience it was aimed at.

With the stock fottage they didn't use stock fottage with mothra rodan or ghidorah to have more popular monsters. Minilla and ishro could watch godzilla and rodan fight. Saying while rodan and godzilla are usually friends they sometimes fight. Maybe use mothra coming in and stoping them fighting. It would be using stock footage from ghidoraha the three headed monster. Give a good message of don't fight with your friends. Plus it could be advertised that rodan and mothra are in the movie.
In short, this movie is much like the premise of a Looney Tunes short, but live action and elongated. So if you think about it that way, it’s not to bad, especially when you can affixate characters within the movie to similar characters from the popular cartoon like Roadrunner, Wile E Coyote, Tweety, Sylvester, Taz, etc. As a BONUS, the little boy was pre-Michael Winslow... or hyper possessed.

Hmm...the one I think I get more enjoyment out of is '1998'. Though elite-kaiju fans would argue both films are a disgrace, at least '1998' is somewhat a competent film. 'Revenge' is border-line campy and half of the run time is stock-footage. '1998' I could see myself watching a few more times. 'Revenge'...not so much.

Only one good thing came out of this movie-we got a new kaiju, Gabara, who could've been a pretty cool monster had he not been exclusive to this film and been a bully.
The Real Kaiju turned out to be the little boy at the end. Gabara and everything of M.I. within was all imaginary. The boy’s real life behaviors and actions, were not.
Btw, Titanosaurus was also a true one-timer. He also had a similar mid-body torso (only) appearance, greenish skin color pigmentation, and orangish facial / cranial hairline features that coincidentally are partly reminiscent of the Gabara design. Also, each have something of a prominent underbite of the lower jaw, and an unusual cackle sound in their roar, or call back. Megalon also appeared once, as did both King Caesar (or Seesar) and Hedorah; the latter two appeared briefly in Final Wars 50th anniversary movie. Heisei Biollante, Battra, SpaceGodzilla and Destroyah also made one appearance apiece in only their title films (Battra in the companion Mothra film) and; in the millennium series just Orga and then Megagirius; to new variants of MechaG (Kiryu), Gigan (chainsaw ver.) and King Ghidorah (MonsterX). The Showa and Heisei assortment were indeed true one-0ff creations, and the majority were mostly unrepeated nor ever duplicated for later.

Ah yer too hard on this movie. It rocks !! it was my favorite film as a kid and I got a big kick out of it. I loved it growing up !!! Im gonna get it for my grandson for a goof.

Only one good thing came out of this movie-we got a new kaiju, Gabara, who could've been a pretty cool monster had he not been exclusive to this film and been a bully.
The Real Kaiju turned out to be the little boy at the end. Gabara and everything of M.I. within was all imaginary. The boy’s real life behaviors and actions, were not.
Btw, Titanosaurus was also a true one-timer. He also had a similar mid-body torso (only) appearance, greenish skin color pigmentation, and orangish facial / cranial hairline features that coincidentally are partly reminiscent of the Gabara design. Also, each have something of a prominent underbite of the lower jaw, and an unusual cackle sound in their roar, or call back.
Megalon also appeared once, as did both King Caesar (or Seesar) and Hedorah; the latter two appeared briefly in Final Wars 50th anniversary movie. Heisei Biollante, Battra, SpaceGodzilla and Destroyah also made one appearance apiece in only their title films (Battra in the companion Mothra film) and; in the millennium series just Orga and then Megagirius; to new variants of MechaG (Kiryu), Gigan (chainsaw ver.) and King Ghidorah (MonsterX). The Showa and Heisei assortment were indeed true one-0ff creations, and the majority were mostly unrepeated nor ever duplicated for later.
