    Great work, love the high level visibility here that can be shared with leadership in larger orgs.

    Good video Paul thanks! Would you use the same "technic/tip" to see in the timeline, tasks from different projects AND people? Thanks

      Yes, you could apply the same idea to people, for sure 👍

    is there a way to share this as a read-only link or PDF ? would be very useful

      Yes, if your account is set up as an Organization, you can find a read-only link in the top right of the project timeline view.

    I love the idea of having a timeline of the past (especially to benefit whoever has this job next), but there's no way to archive tasks, right? So in order to have a history timeline, I have to leave all my completed tasks there forever?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right. So in a way, completing the task is like archiving it.

    AWESOME video - i am hoping I can get this to work. In your timeline, the tasks are color-coated (small color bar next to them) - how do you get this to show up? I have the same task name in all my projects (for example: Sale Date) so when I put them all in the master timeline, I can't tell what project they come from - they all say "sale date' and look the same. How can I differentiate?

    • @minor-co

      Thanks. This video was a little while ago but in the timeline view there is an option at the top called 'Color' you can select to choose how color is used on the project.

    Hi, thanks for this. I use something similar, but I find that when I create a public link to the timeline, the sorting of tasks is completely different and the whole timeline looks very messy. Is there a way round this, please?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you tried applying the sorting BEFORE you create the public link?

    Thanks for the content! At 3:36, it looks like you have sections in your subtasks. How did you you do this? Any resources you can share would be helpful!

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can create these with the shortcut: Tab + N

    Hoping you can help with an issue I'm having with this. You state that you are adding the Timeline project to your "project". In reality it looks you're adding the Timeline project to a Task. Visible at 3:18 in the video you can see Products, Consulting, Speaking & Workshops, Affiliate Marketing, etc. are all tasks not projects. You can see above them it says "Task Name". These are all under Sales which is your project. Our Asana is setup with Projects as projects and I can't find how to add the Timeline project to our projects. Hope this makes sense!

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those headings (Products, Consulting etc) are actually sections. Not tasks and not projects. To clarify, you can't add a project to a project. You can multi-home a task (which you might use to plan a project) into multiple Asana projects.

      @@minor-co Thanks for the quick reply! Makes sense. I don't mind adding a task to the project timeline but then still need a way when looking at the "master timeline" to quickly be able to tell which project the tasks are associated with. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance for your help!

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the slow response. In the timeline settings, you can customise the colour that's used to make the task display as the project colour which could help?

    Hi Paul. Is it possible to export a pdf of the timeline in Asana? I would like to be able to send pdf to a client and can’t work out how to do it. It appears impossible

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid not. The closest you could get is taking a screenshot and saving this as a PDF.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I don't see my sub-tasks on the timeline. I think you mentioned clicking on the little icon on the right of the subtask in another video but the assign to project drop down isn't there.
    In my timeline I see the main task but with a little icon of how many subtasks are included.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To add a subtask to the timeline, go into the subtask and click the three dots in the top right to access the task menu. In there you'll see an option to add it to a project.

    Thanks very much for this hack. Grateful if you can share tips on how to delete teams. I have a premium account and cannot seem to delete teams

    • @minor-co

      If you go the team settings, on the advanced tab there is an option to delete.

    Thanks for the video, incredibly helpful. One question: is there a way to display the project name where the tasks are piped from and into the 'master timeline' without having to click each task to see the project? Right now, they're color coded but I've already used up all of our colors.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question but I'm afraid not. The colour coding is a good workaround though.

    • @kylezor

      I created sections in the master timeline, labelled with the project name to do this. Each time you assign a task to your timeline just add it to the appropriate section and they will be nicely chunked.

    Is there a way to bulk tag tasks with this "Timeline" project?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if you click a task, hold the shift key and then select another task, you can bulk select and then move them all to the Timeline project.

    Doesn’t workload do this in the business pricing plan?

    • @minor-co

      Sort of but the view is a little different. It shows tasks by assignee rather than one timeline.

    Hi. Hope you are doing well. I am trying to have the subitems within each section show up on our timeline. I found something that showed the process of how to add subitems to a Project. But is there a way to have your actual subtask in a section appear under it's proper section in Timeline view?
    Thanks. I hope I explained this right.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว

      By subitem, do you mean subtask? You can add a subtask to a project timeline by clicking into the subtask, then from the task menu you can add the subtask to the main project which will make it appear on the timeline (if it has a due date)

    • @4drcanyonracer

      @@minor-co What's making this confusing is the video references adding the Timeline Project to your projects but your "projects" appear to actually be tasks listed under sections.....

  • @jeremytheoneofdestiny8691

    It's really quite frustrating that the Portfolio view is restricted to Milestones only. While this is a great workaround, it is tedious to have to "multi-home" tasks into multiple projects just to get this middle level view.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I appreciate the frustration. I think Asana is trying to strike a balance so that the Portfolio view isn't too busy and overwhelming.
