The WASR is a proven infantry rifle which has been accepted for military service. The Cugir factory in Romania was trained in AKM production by the Soviets, and they have demonstrated for more than 50 years that they understand how to build critical AK components correctly. They will never be the gold (or even silver) standard of the AK family, but their is no question that they are solid AKs, and are almost always good for tens of thousands of rounds. Century has tried to domestically produce AKs for about a decade. Their rifles (C39 & RAS47) have an abysmal reputation for reliability, and even the best examples typically reveal abnormal wear and mechanical breakdown between 2,500 to 7,500 rounds. If it was easy anyone would do it. This is just the beginning people. Century is finally making them from the ground up. This is great! I believe Century will succeed during this PHASE due to the fact that most people dont check specs of an ak47 before they buy. Ak47s are many times compulsory/Impulse buys due to the nostalgia.(research begins when you get home...lol) In 2020 if you dont own an AK47 or an AR15, you do not own a quintessential semi automatic rifle. Price will always get people to bite. 649.99 right now IN STOCK at classic firearms. For the 2nd PHASE they need to get access to branded chrome lined cold hammer forged barrels & trunions by the crate! 3rd Phase they need some damn forging machinery. These factors will undoubtedly make century a trusted household name in the next decade Like Colt, Ruger,Remington, Smith & Wesson and more. None of which make an AK47...
I would not call removing a wasr10 stock easy bud. Pretty sure I broke my finger in the process of replacing the furniture on an unfired wasr10. I watched several TH-cam videos of people having to beat them off with hammers, one guy but two bolts through the stock and had to use a tow rope, a few people used a vise and marked up their firearms. I finally managed to figure out the simple solution using a large bold and hammer to knock it out from the inside. Took about an hour of rethinking of different ways to remove the stock before I was able to get it but she looks fantastic with all magpul furniture
Misha said it best, import AK`s are made in countrys that have been doing it for 60 years and have the machines, prints and tooling vs American made AK which have only about 10 years of experience. Plus having a American AK is like having chucky cheese fill in for mickey mouse at disney world, if im gonna pay that kinda money I want the real combloc deal!
For folks still wanting to use their WASR 10s wood stock..go ahead and add some Liquid Nails Construction adhesive on the threads..and Forgetaboutit ..that adhesive is so strong, I use it for my retaining walls on my rental property, and it works great on Door Hinge screws too, when the wood is worn out just add a few beads of that stuff, ..presto, you will have something stronger than any wood on earth..
I believe the problem with the cheap wood that comes with the wasr is that it will break under recoil in time. Not if but when, you might as well just get a surplus stock and get an objectively prettier and much more durable stock.
Rooting really hard for the VSKA. Never had a Century Made AK but I love my WASR. I think competition is a great thing especially in the gun market. We need a good domestic AK. Is the VSKA the answer? I don't know. But I hope so. More tests are needed. Good video!

Riiiiight… So development of the VSKA was supposedly done to provide US military and Police with an alternative to the AR Platform but the entire team over at Century's R&D forgot to provide a riveted OPTICS MOUNT??? That entire story was some major Used Car Cringe, and on principle alone would be the reason I chose a WASR over this..
When we want to use AK's to supply Foreign Securiry Forces we buy surplus Kalshnikovs from former Combloc countries now in NATO. In now way shape or form would we waste money on American made AKs and then spend even more money on logistics to get them to a country that already has easy access to surplus AK weapons.
Don't be so sure about the US using a US made AK by Century. They asked Alan Sheppard what his thoughts were when he was sitting in the rocket right before he blasted off to be the first American in space. He replied, "I kept thinking.....this thing was made by the lowest bidder"
I chose the mighty multi function survival tool VSKA because its a jackhammer ya'll (you just never know when you need one) You can use the wood furniture to build a fire, use it as a probing tool when you take bigfoots temperature. Buttstroke a bear if they get too close. Kidding aside hands down WASR..... no marketing ploy would ever make me change my mind.
I've been into AKs since the 80s , mostly chicom , I purchased a VSKA Tactical mostly for the variety factor as for looks There was good and bad , first the bad. The poly furniture made the rifle extremely uncomfortable to shoot , I was about to flip it and decided to try something , I had a Yugo furniture set laying around so I fitted it to the VSKA took some work because two different configurations , that alone transformed the rifle into a smooth pleasure to shoot Next was the finish , it literally had 3 shades of black finish , I had some Brownell Alumihyde so I refinished the whole rifle Next was the ridiculous A2 flash muzzle device , no AK should have a AR style muzzle device , I had an AK74 device , I put that on , perfection Mixed up some shellac, tinted to deep cherry and appearances the rifle is beautiful The good , I have about 2500 rds down the pipe , head space is still awsome , no peening , nothing bad going on with the bolt. No pin walks or wobble , I havnt even had a failure to feed with this rifle
I seen a bft I thought for sure was painted 3 different times with 3 different paints and it was brand new lol. That Brownells is some good paint as long as you let it cure for 4 or 5 days real good. The flat matches Glock black perfect.
I bought a BFT and it is a well built rifle. I took off the hard maple and refinished it to my liking and with a KNS adjustable piston and can and it is a sweet shooter! My Wasr 10 is ordered it will come with the plastic furniture so I will put some wood on it or go MOE.
Is the VSKA barrel heavier? It looks thicker, which would account for the increased weight. I hope they finally got it right, but the WASR still gets my nod because it's stood the test of time. The issues with earlier guns was due to poor conversion work in the US, not the rifle itself.
No side rail no bayonet lug. Nope and a big nope! Dam Century you had one job, yet still don't care. If there's a import ban on the wasr 10 there asses are going out of business.
Side rails are outdated, there are better options available. Bayonets are also near useless. There are more important things to look for in a rifle than a side mount and bayonet lug.

@yours truly Oh I am well aware. I am Bulgarian my self but I try to be as non-biased as possible. Just looking at the history of each company should be enough to persuade any buyer pick the obvious product, but unfortunately there are people who think that all AKs (including American made ones) will function the same. It really is a shame, because the choice between Arsenal and Century arms is very obvious, but to this day there are people that believe that CA is on the same level as a company that has been manufacturing arms since 1878 and have had multiple military contracts with different militaries to provide small arms. Extremely disappointing, especially with the amount of information that we have online in this day and age. Arsenal continue to provide military AKs to Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, India (probably the biggest contract), Nigeria, Somalia and many more that I can't list off the top of my head.
Hello my Indiana brother. Just picked up my first American made AK. Absolutely awesome!!! Not a single problem after 210 shots and I’m using cheap wolf ammo. Every time it goes bang and just as fast as u can squeeze it. Better than any AR I’ve shot. Would trust my life with a AK before a AR any day!!

I recently sold my RAS47 because I had a casing get stuck in the chamber after being fired. The rifle only had about 200 rounds through it, and was using Century’s own ammo! Century thankfully repaired the rifle for free, and someone on Armslist got it. A WASR is now on it’s way to me!
@@steveo1240 already do. my only complaint is the mag well, as my included pmag takes some jimmying to insert properly, and has got stuck without the front lip being hooked more than once.

SirBilliam I’m glad I talked to you before selling it for $300 at my local pawn shop!
akwavy x I sold it on armslist in literally 2 days with an initial price of $550. Try gunbroker as well, although it costs money. Always meet up at a local police station if it’s allowed when using armslist.
Owned my WASR since 2007. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE. Thats it!
Has to have Rob’s “enough with the bs talk” seal of approval before I’ll buy.

@@arshard5974 At the time 600.00 today they are 999.00 ! But that's America isn't it.
Just because it’s military made doesn’t make it good or better
Good video!

Such a great video. Thanks you answered my exact questions.
Ultimak solves that
Exactly it’s a marketing scam lol.
@@KB-kw8ni I mean, it obviously wasn't accepted so it's not necessarily a plus in their favor.
BearJew05 I think he was referring to the US using the VSKA, not the US giving the VSKA to other countries
I seriously doubt the military would rely on a US made AK let alone one made by century lmao. 🤣🤣
Maybe it was a program with the objective of flooding enemy countries with shit weapons that will crap out before they can be put to real use.
@@thegreenman2030 Well they did it in vietnam.
Lmao right! Exactly what I was thinking.
Don't be so sure about the US using a US made AK by Century. They asked Alan Sheppard what his thoughts were when he was sitting in the rocket right before he blasted off to be the first American in space. He replied, "I kept thinking.....this thing was made by the lowest bidder"
Between these rifles and spiked ammo, we can watch the enemy grenade themselves shooting at us. Makes sense in that light.
Thanks for the table top review
VSKA front trunnion is machined from s7 tool steel (which matches it's s7 tool steel bolt)
Just roll with the wasr.
I agree
Yes love my GP WASR
Good comparison. Thanks for sharing.
I've been into AKs since the 80s , mostly chicom , I purchased a VSKA Tactical mostly for the variety factor as for looks
There was good and bad , first the bad. The poly furniture made the rifle extremely uncomfortable to shoot , I was about to flip it and decided to try something , I had a Yugo furniture set laying around so I fitted it to the VSKA took some work because two different configurations , that alone transformed the rifle into a smooth pleasure to shoot
Next was the finish , it literally had 3 shades of black finish , I had some Brownell Alumihyde so I refinished the whole rifle
Next was the ridiculous A2 flash muzzle device , no AK should have a AR style muzzle device , I had an AK74 device , I put that on , perfection
Mixed up some shellac, tinted to deep cherry and appearances the rifle is beautiful
The good , I have about 2500 rds down the pipe , head space is still awsome , no peening , nothing bad going on with the bolt. No pin walks or wobble , I havnt even had a failure to feed with this rifle
I love the look as well, I’m stuck comparing different options. I like the BFT 47 also made by century arms. Wonder how that one shoots!
I seen a bft I thought for sure was painted 3 different times with 3 different paints and it was brand new lol.
That Brownells is some good paint as long as you let it cure for 4 or 5 days real good.
The flat matches Glock black perfect.

Wasr is far superior than the vska. Point blank
Jim Morrison well it has a CHF barrel and forged parts...and cugir has a combat record for making rifles the last 60 years

Rafael Calderin it doesn’t even have a barrel lining lol
Esoteric Wolf yeah just double checked on centuries website-not chrome lined. Not nitrited. It’s phosphated 4150 CMV 🤷🏻♂️
If you get a WASR, you will at least have a gun with a track record.
I bought a BFT and it is a well built rifle. I took off the hard maple and refinished it to my liking and with a KNS adjustable piston and can and it is a sweet shooter! My Wasr 10 is ordered it will come with the plastic furniture so I will put some wood on it or go MOE.
Great comparison!!!
I think I'd stick with the WASR
Is the VSKA barrel heavier? It looks thicker, which would account for the increased weight. I hope they finally got it right, but the WASR still gets my nod because it's stood the test of time. The issues with earlier guns was due to poor conversion work in the US, not the rifle itself.
No side rail no bayonet lug. Nope and a big nope! Dam Century you had one job, yet still don't care. If there's a import ban on the wasr 10 there asses are going out of business.

@yours truly What are you trying to say?
I liked the vska, might get one

Is that front sight block welded to the top of the barrel? And no side rail? Odd. Century just doesn’t get it.
