Mass demand conversion is a essential. It just automatically sends out demand conversion to everyone in your realm and they can accept it or decline it
Whilst that does like a nice mod, there are circumstances where I like to keep certain vassals as another religion to encourage that leaders ability to convert the culture of that area,

My 3 most essential are: More Single Combat: do duels if commander or knight in an army. If you can learn the Duel mechanics it makes wars way more active. Nothing like a close war where you personally beat the other kingdom ruler for a win. Vassals to Arms: vassal join defenders in wars making Invasions slower and making the game both easier and harder. Historical Invasions: characters will be given special troops and a goal to conquer lands they help in history. You can crank their troops to 3x and make actual difficult empires to war against. Makes sure the map changes.
When you've got a game or two under your belt I recommend ObfusKate as well. It dramatically changes how you play CK3 without changing any mechanics. Like the title says it just obfuscates information of characters you have no real reason to know about making you have to work to get to k ow them or to get Intel on their military strength or vassal relations. It's so much fun that I can't recommend it enough! It enhances the roleplay element of CK3 to unreal levels and has become for me THE Ck3 experience.
quick UI, better battles, dark theme, prisoners, and rice are all far from what I'd call essential mods, some of them actually change a lot of things too so they're more equal to having a flavor pack not what you want if you're looking for something like a 'vanilla+' experience, the rest I kinda liked though

Haha, we really don't have same taste for aesthetic! Find dark mode or portraits with (flash blue) colors really ugly (and that horrible Quick UI...) But liked the qol mods.

Huh? I'm not sure what you're talking about, because all you have to do is "subscribe" to the mod on the game's Steam workshop! There's literally nothing else you have to do lol.
@@tevarinvagabond1192 Load order mate, load order. If everything is working for you without considering it - it's luck. It's pretty critical. For example, if you install AGoT mod (an overhaul,) it should NOT be on top, or on the bottom. Very top = general ck3 mods that do little tweaks, as shown in this video. Middle = Overhaul Mod, right under them. Lowest = Sub-mods for AGoT (which require AGoT.) The sub mods change files of the overhaul mod - so, the launcher gets confused - if it tries to change a file that isn't present yet. (Like following a recipe - the launcher can't put pepper on eggs if it doesn't see eggs yet.) I'm not an expert on mods, but I do know enough to tell you to research "load order" for each mod you have that misbehaves. Usually devs explain "top or bottom" if it's important. Such as with the Unofficial Patch Mod - Place on Top. "By loading this one first you are telling the game engine "this mod has a lesser priority if another one edits the same file." Also - check incompatibility between mods. If 2 mods alter the same file - you crash. For example, two mods that change the world map - it won't work. Same for 2 that reskin GUI, same for those that add/remove military units or change stats. I wanted 2 mods: One allows "switch lifestyle focus any time" and "double lifestyle focus points." But I had to choose between them. Good luck!
Thank you! But what about Load Order? I will try your suggested package out, but culd you please add load order? It is frustrating when mods don't work, and I don't know why, andi n a 20 mod list, the number of possible load orders are a bit too many for me to want to trial-and-error it out ;-)
Most of the larger mods like RICE actually say the kind of load order you should have in their info panel. Generally you want to have beefier mods that change a lot to be up at top in the load order, and then minor things can go last. If there's a compatibility mod, then you slap it between the mods that require the compatibility

@@kristianfagerstrom7011 Dude, it's not that hard, you just have to use some common sense...beefy mods that have large file sizes generally need to be at the higher end of the list unless it says otherwise...super small mods, especially cosmetic and UI ones, can pretty much go anywhere in the load list because they don't really have much impact. Actually so annoying that many of the quality of life, cosmetic mods disable achievements. Paradox should make exceptions for the more popular mods to give them compatibility with achievements enabled.
So...I used the entire list, created a playset called Snap Strategy, and headed on in. I must be missing something with Better Barbershop because while I like the idea of customizing characters, ALL prominent characters are naked!! My starting dude, his kid, their wives when I get them married, all the council members...all butt-ass naked. I don't mind doing custom clothes for the main character's family and tweaking as I go, but even doing the entire council got tedious quickly. I couldn't find any "random" button or "clothe everyone" (lol), so I disabled the mod. Fired up another game without that mod and EVERYONE IS STILL NAKED. What am I missing?
Only ironman compatible mods are super small, cosmetic things. Anything that really changes the game at all in terms of extra content will automatically make it so you can't get achievements

They do the same with cities skylines, they will never allow achievements with mods even if all it does is change a font haha
