    All he had to do was pull the desk about 8 inches from the wall leaving the large monitors against the wall and you get the same sweet spot for both sets of speakers

    @deepredsky1 Thanks for your kind words. Most of the monitors are set up that way due to the lack of space in the environments. Ideally you would want the speakers a few feet out from the wall at least to prevent the low frequency being artificially emphasised, but in many of these spaces (and in project studios in general) it is impractical. In this case you would want to be aware of the loading and account for it either by EQing your monitors or training your ears. Thanks again!

  • @NoNameLeft1500
    @NoNameLeft1500 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you don't have the Space to get them a few meters away from the wall.. you should go as near as possible to the wall.. if you go for a medium distance you will get more comb filtering of the lowend then placing them near as possible.. the lowend will be a bit boosted yes.. but a little boost is better to learn then comb filtering.. where you always need to know which frequencies are now subtracted or boosted.. the closer you get the smaller the wavelenght (higher hz) at where combs starts

    Really? I thought this episode was actually going to give some new information, like how to deal with conflicting waves coming off two sets of speakers, and also about hanging some thicker curtains or something to deal with the right "wall".

    I would have added an acoustic screen to the right of the desk as well. I don't know what is on the other side - maybe Mr. White's lab? But the screen would act as a wall there and cut any reflections that might otherwise come in from behind the curtain. Didn't he also say something about a cloud over the desk (2:46) What happened there?

      Hey Danny, what do you mean? We have 2 USB mics in the range now, the Podcaster and the NT USB.

    • @DannyHauger
      @DannyHauger 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I emailed Rode, after watching this series, to ask if I might have a microphone donated for my classroom, to teach my middle school students about audio science and Geometry, and the email response told me that unfortunately, USB microphones are discontinued, but I might find one on Amazon or another re-seller. It surprised me, I just got it yesterday.
      The video intrigued me, if its still possible, and maybe there's one to donate, get in touch! Thanks for the reply!

    I think Francis is a great guy with a lot of knowledge, but you are able to notice that he is told how he should run these video's. I like the initiative and for me taking a look how the home studio's get a great facelift is fun to watch. However its a bit lame to hear the same advertisement about the mic every video.
