Totally agree, I came during Trump's time and went to a very good school for a Ph.D. program and the process was extremely smooth and fair. In fact, the immigration officer at the airport was also extremely gentle and warm.

Then I traveled to meet her and explained my ideas and thoughts to her. She was satisfied with my answers and then she took me. Right now I have the closest bond with her, she is like a mother to me. But I can tell you, the university professors are much more selective and strict with accepting students than any immigration officer ever. So the universities do more than half of the job much before the immigration or anyone else. Living in USA since 8 years, believe me future students, if you choose MS in US now thinking you will get a job and h1b and everything will be fine , then that’s a bad idea. 1. OPT STEM OPT will be challenged, there is a possibility that you graduate from university and opt might be reduced to 1 year from 3. 2. H1B is going to be very difficult. They will increase the salary to be eligible for h1b, which can be level 3 wage/above 120k etc. and getting that salary out of college is very difficult and only after earning this salary you will be eligible for h1b ‘lottery’. 3. H1B RFE/Denial rates are gonna skyrocket again, so you will never find a peace unless you work for top 20 companies. I have seen 4 years of trump regime in usa and the only people who survived are extremely talented or those for whom luck favored. This time trump is elected with more majority in house and senate so passing laws is going to be a lot easier for him.
@ Previous tenure he did not have majority in senate and house, which made it difficult to pass laws and drastic executive orders do not stand in court so it failed. Anyway, I just tried to help, I have nothing to lose, if people still want to come and spend thousands of dollars in this country with no certainty of future, be my guest, it does not affect me personally.
@@PratitPrabhasBachelor’s degree will take minimum 4 years to complete, by that time there is a possibility that trump might not be there. But president is only one factor, with bachelor’s you do not have additional 20,000 h1b visas in lottery, that’s only for master’s quota. Also fees are much higher compared to master’s but you will also have more co-op/internship/TA/RA opportunities. In conclusion, 4 years is such a long duration, it is difficult to predict anything that far in future.
