kudos to recognizing that the SA went over your head. they picked frank, the guy that plays "victim" to everything, and made him the actual victim. it almost feels like it was a test to see if we would take a second to actually read what was going on or if we would just blame frank like we always do lol. imo you shouldnt feel so bad about missing it!
It's okay that you didn't pick up on the SA on Frank. Part of why it's hard to pick up on I believe is that Frank also doesn't believe he was a victim. The entire episode he's acting as though he simply had relations with a minor
I feel like that might've also been a judgement of society. like they were pointing out how because as a society we don't understand the concept that a minor can in fact r-word an adult and the adult would be innocent in that situation, that's ingrained in Frank's mind too. So he has to act like it was consensual to avoid dealing with the possible traumatic effects of being SAd
@@deancontiwriter13 he was also severely drugged up and drunk, he might not fully remember what exactly happened. all he remembers is that they had sex, and that she is a minor.
I understand why it was hard to see Frank as a victim, when I first saw this whole thing I was also blind by the minor thing. But glad to know we have the chance to learn and view things the way they are, like in this case how Karen abused Frank. Also, I feel sorry for Lip because he really loves Karen. Love your shameless reactions, can't wait for season two!

Just recently finished shameless and i miss this show so much already but idk if i could rewatch it just yet as this show as much it has alot of fun moments it hits deep and right where it hurts😭

@@Mae20Shiela rapes him in episode 2 when they first meet, and its very heavily implied she regularly disregards his consent and pushes explicit boundaries once they are dating.
In one of the future seasons it there is a scene which implied Frank's mother my have sexually abused him on a regular basis but there are some different views on that. We find out that Frank has slept with guys not because he wanted to but because he needed money. Given his history that its likely at some point he offered his body to pay off a debt and avoid physical injury which would be coerced consent. Also just with how regularly he gets black out drunk or very high the odds are he'd be targeted by someone due to the vulnerability that comes with that.
I hope you keep watching it even if you don’t do reactions. It gets even better after season 1. This is my favorite show. I don’t watch tv shows much, but it’s so good I binge watched all 11 seasons in 1 month lol

Karen in season 1 is abandoned by the writers and we get a different Karen going forward. Season 1 Karen is shown to have some measure of compassion, remorse, and affection for others. Future Karen is only really shown to pretend to have those things. So for those who like her or at least didnt hate her in this season mourn that character cause her base personality and motivations get tweaked for whats to come and not for the better.

Honestly even watching this the first time it was quite easy to understand that Frank was the victim. Its aparent that Karen was a shitty person, who used her own personal experinces as an excuse to SA Frank. Frank being a shitty person shouldn't absolve him of the right to be seen as the victim in any given situation (with some possible exceptions).
Its extra fucked up that people just ignore that Shiela rapes Frank in episode 2 which is just as clear. They make a joke of him shouting no after we hear him say no repeatedly and see him get handcuffed so he cant escape. But people like Sheela and find it funny so many of them ignore that but since Karen isnt liked so more people are willing to call her actions out and condemn it. FRANK IS RAPED BY BOTH OF THEM. Neither of them ever face real consequences for it.
