Great grandma silverware is gorgeous!❤ but I absolutely adore your old country roses. It has been my favorite for 40 years and I’ve never been able to afford even one piece so I enjoy looking at yours every time you set the table with it. Thank you for sharing it.❤

Absolutely lovely. Honoring your possessions. I am following your lead and working my way around my house decluttering and organizing. Yesterday was finally the day to take on the three bins of lace!! I had great visions. lol. I started with the colored box. I started nice organizing them. Decided just in group by color was good for this go round. Completed that about dinner time. That left the two bins of white. After dinner I opened the first. A HUGE MUDDLED mess!! I started untangling. Got about halfway done! Ugh. Opened the second box was sorted and clipped, so that was going to be easy. Yes. Went to bed, slept a few hours, woke up and hit the mess again!! Put on the audio book A Tree Grows In Brooklyn! Love that book. Kept at it until it was all untangled!! Yeah me! We are going to the fair this afternoon! So will get bins to hold the mess. I feel very accomplished. I don’t feel complete, but accomplished! lol. Now can progress in my sewing room!! AND my dining room floor is clear of the bins!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏. Funny coincidence! I was dusting in the bedroom and decided to shine up the copper plate I set my glass of water on...I didn't remember how it was supposed to look. From there, decided I might as well work on my little bit of silverware only to tune you in and discover that you doing that, too...Mine is not nearly as extensive or fancy, but, I try to keep it nice.

Sophia, what is that music that you played when you were putting the silverware into the drawer in the breakfront? I love it! It makes me sad and happy at the same time. Makes me think of being a little girl at home with my mother and father. I can't wait to see how you set your table for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I just know you have it all planned out in your head!
We were lucky to have mismatched stainless-steel flatware growing up, but I remember in home economics we were taught how to clean and preserve our silverware; knowledge learned and never used.
"It takes time to make a house a home. You ought to enjoy the process." Aww........ love that :) I also have 2 complete sets of my grandmother's silver flatware (100+ yrs old). They are in beautiful heavy wooden cases. I don't use them. Other than the sentimental attachment, I wonder how much they are worth monetarily wise. Do you know??

I am a Montessori elementary school teacher. I took my silverware to my classroom and my students begged to polish it with the paste. Polishing is a traditional Montessori skill for children to learn.

I keep my silverware in various airtight plastic boxes. Them it doesn’t have to be polished as often.
