      @@zo_leo8401 And pretty dumb, IMO. He could have at least told his wife. She would have understood and kept the secret. If we never came to know Catelyn Stark, I could see how we might believe he might not tell her, because we wouldn't know her character. But we _did_ meet her. We followed her. We saw her love for Ned. She would have kept the secret.
      I certainly don't understand why Ned didn't tell Jon as he was leaving for the Wall. But I understand those are just the machinations of making a good story. Come to think of it, it's been so long, I don't even remember why Jon went to the Wall. Considering the evil types that are forced to go, I don't recall why he went. 🤔

      @@CaesiusX I agree with you, he could have told his wife. But maybe he didn’t want any loose ends just in case she left him or told some one. Plus don’t forget she does tend to do things on her own against the will of Ned. Like kidnapping Tyrion, and she also let Jamie go against the will of her Rob. So we can’t really trust her 100% lol. I believe Jon went to the wall ironically because Catlyn resented him. He was a bastard so he couldn’t eat dinner with company or introduced as a true member of the family. Then Uncle Benjin was always nice to him and treated him well. He thought he would be happy at the wall with him. Plus he would never own any land or titles from the Stark name anyway.

    One thing I love so much about Margaery's death is that she figured out what was happening right before it did. Bran tells this story in season 3:
    The Rat Cook is the subject of legends and myths in the Seven Kingdoms. According to this particular legend, a King once paid a visit to the Nightfort, then the chief castle on the Wall. Due to some offense by the king, (Bran Stark said he couldn't remember the exact reason when he recounts the tale) the cook killed the king's son and served his flesh in a pie to the unknowing king. The king enjoyed the pie so much he asked for a second helping.
    The gods cursed the cook by turning him into a fat, white rat which could only survive by feasting on its own young. He was condemned to run the halls of the Nightfort, eating his own offspring. The gods were not offended by the murder, nor even by cooking the son and feeding him to his own father, for a man has a right to vengeance. What the gods could not forgive and cursed the cook for was that he broke the laws of hospitality and protection, which are held to be sacred above all others.

      I love it, since this is just the same story in reverse. The King of the North was killed under the hospitality of Walder Frey for his slight against him. Walder Frey broke the laws of hospitality and protection, so was fed his sons as a pie and then killed for it. In a metaphorical way, you could say that Walder Frey was already a fat white rat which only survived by "feasting" on his offspring, considering how he only had so many children to use them for his political gain.

    I still can't get that melancholic piano music out of my head. The camera panning out to Cersei's coronation is my favorite shot, waited the whole series for that moment. The King in the North chant lives, once more after all this time! With Jon and Sansa at the table as throwback to Robb and Cat from the end of S1. Very evocative score and visuals. Remember how we all do the "Winter is Coming drinking game" gag in early seasons as the Starks keep saying it every 5 mins? Bet you didn't think the next time you'll hear a Stark saying it again in the show, it'll be under these circumstances. This is the best GoT episode imo. For so long we hope and pray for all these outcomes, and finally the floodgates open up! There's a badass teaser for S7 called "Long Walk" which shows the two queens and the one king walking to their respective thrones and subconsciously you just know that this is it, they've peaked, it's all downhill from here. Sidebar: The Long Walk promo and Winter Is Here trailer are the two best GoT trailers (just talking about the trailers). Sansa quoting Ned in Winter is Here, "when the Snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." It's finally A Time for Wolves.🥶🐺

    I'm always in awe of just how many turn of events they pack in a single episode. Every one of them hit like a brick wall. In one stroke you get the resolution for all the different storylines that were being built up for 2 seasons, and this episode leaves you with one you never thought you needed!! This is like a double triple watch episode cause the first time you're just in a "WTF is happening" state. It keeps on giving until there's nothing more to give. So rewarding! At the beginning of the last episode Tyrion foreshadows what's to come by telling Dany the story of the Mad King hiding caches of wildfire in King's Landing. By the end of that episode no one remembers it. Hats off to Ramin Djawadi's music too. The way it adds to the suspense of the Sept scene is unreal. Who else is unreal? Liam Cunningham as Davos berating Mellisandre. The battle episode is unreal, but this is so fantastic in a different way that it manages to make it a hard call, deserved every accolade it got.

    People go nuts over Arya killing Frey and then zone out on the next scene but I think that's the one that's artistically superior. The beautiful backdrop of the snowy Godswood with LF in the shadows looking intriguing as ever. Sansa sitting in the same spot Ned sat forever ago in the first episode. The slowed down Stark music is like daggers to the heart. When he says "forgive me my lady if you're at prayer" and she dolefully replies "I'm done with all that". That's full circle to when Cersei scoffed at her for naively putting her faith in the cruel Gods. She speaks very little but conveys all that she's been through with her eyes: "The past is gone for good. You can sit here mourning its departure or prepare for the future". If we can forget about all the big brain critiques just for a sec and soak in what an uncanny road it's been for both of em! Out of everyone that's come and gone, it's these two who are still standing. " *A picture of me on the Iron Throne and you by my side* " 😈

      Cersei's an idiot, she isn't playing chess, she never was. She uses tactics that nobody else would to seize power, but she always thinks in the short-term. The way she seizes power isolates her house and guarantees she won't be able to cling to it. To get rid of a rival in the short-term she throws away the alliances she needs in the long term. It's why Tywin notes that she isn't as clever as she thinks she is.

    • @JerzyXL
      @JerzyXL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @David Jones and where did Tywin's cleverness ultimately get him? Killed in the shitter. Yes, Cersei may have come up with a short term solution that would ultimately isolate her House but it was a solution nonetheless. And she gained the crown out of it.

    If Jon had taken Stannis' offer, it woulda been any. other. show. No matter how disagreeable the last finale was, a cataclysmic failure is necessary for the eventual success to mean anything. This is special because the river of shit you had to wade to get there. All the rage quit moments. Just think back how long it has been, where these characters were when we started. What other show would have the balls? Mellisandre hinting "you know nothing Jon Snow" or Maester Aemon saying "a Targaryen alone in the world" or Lyanna Mormont's "Bear Island knows no King.." letter to Stannis. Bran's journey finally ending in the tower. *All those moments are why the crowning at Winterfell feel so gratifying* . Nothing was given, it had to be earned. The last two episodes didn't exist in a random vacuum, all the prior season bleakness goes into creating the mood for the eventual turnover. *The longer the slowburn was the more memorable these moments became* Nothing to see here, just back to back episodes ranked in IMDB's Top 10 TV Episodes list, and a season that won 12 Emmys.

    "We know no King but the King in the North, who's name is Stark"
    What an awesome insane balls to the wall episode Winds of Winter is. My fav GoT episode. The moral is "power recides where men believe it recides" - Varys. The whole edifice of the ruling power that was held together by so much bloodshed comes crashing down like a deck of cards. To watch it all go up in flames (literally) was as rewarding as watching it slowly being built up was irksome. Out of the wreckages of the North, the South and the East emerge the three contenders to the Iron Throne : the Bastard of Winterfell (or is he?), the Lioness of Casterly Rock, and the Stormborn who intends to re-create what her ancestor Aegon the Conqueror had done three centuries ago.

    With all due respect to Kit Harrington and Peter Dinklage, Liam deserved the Emmy nomination this season more than they did. He was a highlight of a season I find to be underwhelming and I feel like he and the character of Davos Seaworth never got as much credit as I feel like they deserved
