Hey I'm sorry I missed this comment. I only just learned I can filter for 'new replies' in the comment section. With the new legitimacy I feel it's a lot easier to blob due to the increased vassalization acceptance and reduced counties needed for kingdom/empire titles. I was able to make Scandanavia in 2 years instead of 6 because of it. While I think it's cool, I think it needs some balancing since once plagues hit your domains in later eras, a new player may start to struggle with the constant low legitimacy. Since I've commented, I uploaded a video on a world conquest run in basically one lifetime that you might enjoy. It's super expensive point-wise, but if you grab Adventurer + Peasant Leader, your armies will be super cheap thanks to the army & men-at-arms maintenance reduction. It's also a build that you'd probably never make in a real game, so there's that extra bit of fun. And then your heir will cry because he will be the one having to figure out how to pay the armies...
I was reading the new update has options for more adventuring and if maintenance is an issue, then this build will actually be OP / flavor-fitting for that! We can convince them we should rule them by divine right and not salary right? :D
I enjoy starting as a Child and min-maxing the 400points, I think is really nice despite the lose in power until age since you can find a genius character easily that gives you OP education
Also a great thing to point out: Asatru is an unreformed faith and 2 of the 3 needed Holy sites are inside the Sweden/Norway area. You can claim the last needed Holysite basically in neighboring counties (Yorvik in England or Paderborn in Germany) to reform the Faith to anything you want it to be
Here is my custom start: Make ruler 0 years old, lower all skill points, and choose enough bad traits or bad personalities to get 40 points (I've tried a few different combinations and still trying to find the best one, but in general even not being perfect at this will still be way worth it), and then get hale, comely, genius, fecund, and genius. Start the game and immediately do strengthen bloodline decision. Profit from gifted genetics for the rest of the game
Great Video again, super glad to have found your channel. Another interesting (albeit very RNG heavy) strat that I tried and found fun was creating a character at max age, with all the positive congenital traits at tier 3 plus fecund and pure blooded, while stacking all the negative (not congenital) traits to stay under the 400 point limit. Then create 1 son and as many daughters as you like. Since you have all 3 congenital traits at max, the chance for your only son to spawn with a lot of them is high. You can then re-load with that character as often as you'd like, potentially getting all 3 traits at max (however the chance is very slim). You also have all congenital genes (at least) carried on inactively, so with your daughters you can try to matrilineally marry them to spread your genes / Dynasty as early as possible. To begin you will start by strengthening the bloodline, and die a couple of months later, since you are stacking all the negative from old age and the negative traits. The big two negatives are: - high RNG dependancy - if you have vassals, they will often hate you because your original character has a lot of negative opinion modifiers
Thanks for the kind comment! My first build, after I learned what strengthen bloodline was, was actually the exact type of build you are talking about xD. I named him 'HellSpawn' since he had all the negative point refunding traits. Then I modified my build to do the herc+2 or beaut+2 so that I could live longer and I find that if I can just get one daughter with pure-blooded then I'll immediately divorce, reform faith and marry the daughter for more pure-bloods. That can cut genetic perfection time from 100 years to 50-75.
If you are really lucky you can get glass monument early game, and if you go to a pilgrimage there is a small chance for an event that will remove a bad congenital trait like lunatic, meaning your cnildren wont get the hidden lunatic modifier.
I would actually recommend not getting the strong trait. it is fairly easy to obtain through events and the "train for tournaments" decision (though it is still good to take if your really old and want to live a bit longer). Really love the diplomacy build never thought that diplomacy is actually good for something :D.
You're not wrong at all, with DLC's and other ways to extend life you don't really need it. I should have specified that this was coming from a place of 'No DLC' and also beginner friendly. There are tons of ways to min-max the character a lot more than this too. Thanks for the honest feedback! Just so others know, the strong trait you can 1) RNG get it as asatru/norse as a baby growing older 2) Seek aid of spirits as bori faith 3) Martial education RNG random event 4) Tours & Tournaments decision. And probably others I don't remember

@breadgodgaming Re-watched this and had a thought or two. Tip 1: Prestige skills (August, Arrogant, One Eyed, Profligate) on custom characters offer an additional benefit: you start with more men-at-arms. If you stack these you can begin the game with full stacks (albeit, of randomly selected moa's). Tip 2: You can create a custom ruler in the same starting location more than once and each will be in the game. So you can create a custom ruler for your ideal spouse, then a custom ruler that you play as. This can kick the genetics game off all the faster. Or you can create a custom genetic grandpa with every negative and 15 daughters, and then a genetic baby to play as. You could abuse this to custom create an entire court if you want.
Wow thank you so much for the amazing insights. I had no idea about increased starting men-at-arms. That is interesting and I wonder if jump starting the strength of the raiding army is worth specc'ing for over other things. I do see the number of regiments still can vary like 100-300 base and 100-600 with just one trait (only tested 10 custom chars) Tip 2 is insanely OP??? As long as the final character is within the 400 point limit you can literally create a maxed out character spouse/knight/courtier? This an outstanding finding and definitely an exploit in terms of easy achievements (not that it matters since it is a casual sandbox). I can literally make a 100 stat with all traits gigachad spouse...wow this is an insane find. I have a specific build that is super similar to yours haha. It's toward the end of my genetics video, but I do the same thing with giving a ton of negative traits and then putting 1 son and 19 daughters. The created ruler dies within 1 year and then I use the son to quickly reform a religion ASAP so I can marry the sisters with the best genetics. If I'm lucky the son or the sister will have pure-bred, or even luckier, both. Thanks for the crazy insights and your continued support! @@breadgodgaming I didn't realize that you could spend more than 400 points in the first character and limit yourself to only 400 in the second and still enable achievements. I just tried it out and you are correct! I then created a 100 stat baby and a 120 yo starting character with a diplomacy lifestyle, all the prestige perks and compassionate. Use the starting gold to "Commission Epic" for renown (gives 75 if you chose family) then you can adopt your 100 stat baby. Feels slightly less dirty than editing a ruler file.
I made a 100 martial super commander, a 100 stewardship super steward, 100 intrigue super spy, and 100 diplomacy super chancellor, a maxed out traits super baby wife, and the usual 400 points 'achievement-legal' baby. It was absolutely ludicrous when I saw achievements were still enabled xD I won't be using that for my guides/playthroughs...but for casual play it was insane. Thank you for such an amazing find
How do you go about creating multiple characters for the same realm? Do i just save the characters, make my starting ruler and the saved ones will appear in game?
@@JK-ky5vu you make a custom character and hit “finish”. Then over that same character, create a new one and keep going as long as you like. If you don’t do it to the same realm, then you void achievements. For the final character, just make the ruler you want to play / is achievement legal. If you don’t care about achievements then it doesn’t matter. Once you enter the game, the other custom characters you made will not automatically spawn in your realms court, you have to search for them in the character finder. It may benefit you to grab a trait or two that is virtuous / gives good opinion so you can invite them.
I stumbled across your videos lastnight and this one popped up. I love the idea of creating genetic dynasties. I have a question. For the Viking baby. Why didn't he have Pure Blooded but the older versions of him did?
Thank you for the kind comment :) Because the 70 year old will die faster, I think it's mandatory imo to have enough health for him to live a reasonable age. Otherwise, you can definitely replace strong for pureblooded for the 0/47 year old. Actually in hindsight, I should've made the baby's strong->pure-blooded because as he grows older, he has a chance to gain strong naturally. Whoops. To cater to newer players, I thought it would be easier to give the two the extra years of life via strong instead of pure-blooded so they have an easier time consolidating their realm. I should have added a note saying you can replace it. Sorry about that.
@@breadgodgaming I guessed it as Pure Blood could wait till the 2nd Generation with a baby starting character. When you are 70 you don't have time to have 9 kids or to wait for Pure Blood to show up in your region.
That is true as well, although it can take 100+ years for a pure-blooded character to spawn. If you are quick and lucky, especially with the 70 year old, you can try to get a daughter with pure blooded then marry her (reform religion too) and keep seducing/break up (limited) with her to make as many pure-blooded babies as possible. From there it'll speed up the genetics program even faster, but definitely takes a lot of energy / focus that you will need for your conquering. Because you can't seduce/romance while traveling, it makes it much harder to multi-task the seduction when I need to do certain things like be commander for raider/elevate kingdom of mann decision
I didn't realize how strong older characters could be. This entire time I just been making them very young adults to have the most time with them(without being a kid).

Thank you for your kind words! The PS5 is multiple patches / DLC behind the desktop version. If what I'm reading is correct, the latest update was the Fate of Iberia patch which was released Dec 2023 for consoles, but that was released May 2022 for desktop. I just did some digging into the history of changes in the patch notes and patch 1.7 "Bastion" / Friends & Foes DLC released on 9/8/2022 was when disloyal/loyal was added. If they take about 1.5 years to release a console patch, then 1.5 months is about this month or the next but that's just extrapolation. For the missing -20 refund points than you might need add some of the other negative stress traits at -5 each, lazy is a manageable negative personality trait and gives -10 (avoid paranoid, craven), some of the shunned religious traits may be contenders too at -5. Just double check they are shunned and not criminal.
I had a ran that started with this build: 70 years old bosnian Krstjani, 1 star learning education, genius, hale and comely, Temperate, Diligent and Disloyal. My goal was to be a Uber tall ruler and make a Tall kingdom of Bosnia, although the Pope removed the Ecumenical trait from Krstjani and started Crusading me... so at the end I reformed creating the Neo-Krstjani faith and Dismantled the Papacy, formed the Roman and the Slavia empires... repelled the Mongol invasion and at the end i Gifted the Roman Empire to the Neo-Krstjani head of Faith and kept only Slavia untile 1453

Sayyid is a great trait as it’s inherited and gives +10 modifier with Islamic characters. This can be handy for vassal management in places like Spain. You can be of any religion, so there’s no restriction .. and it only costs 10 points
I thought it was only 5 opinion? It adds a ton of initial legitimacy in the new free update, so I think this trait is worth more now. It might be squeezable in custom ruler for a muslim realm, but I think it's a luxury trait for a custom character as you can just breed it in with an existing character.
@@breadgodgaming you’re right about the opinion modifier. My bad.. haven’t played in a while as it crashes on the Mac and they haven’t patched it I always go for it though. Sure.. you can marry in, but it’s dirt cheap and is guaranteed to be inherited. So a long term investment. Another trick is to create a character then overwrite them with a new one. They remain in the game and you can hire them as an advisor or get a bespoke wife/husband.. first few days only as they tend to wander or get snapped up by someone else

The debug mode will show you the health of current characters. I often use the debug mode to test out my theories and game mechanics and as I was theory crafting on custom character builds I noticed that the spawned health was much higher than I expected. I tested a few variations and confirmed that any health boosts are doubled and any penalties remain the same. I didn't see any info on this on the wiki or reddit so I'm not sure if it's intended or not.
100% agree. All runs that start off as 'playing tall and small' end up being Roman Empire and/or Mongol Empire. As long as they have the decisions there, I don't think I will stop doing them :)
Why does the hairstyle not show in game? For the Thor build the hair shows normal in character creation but for some reason my character has very short hair in game...
Do you have any mods enabled? There was also a balding update after this video was released, so characters sometimes start balding, although I think they toned it down a bit since
I'm kind of new to the game but when you create a child character does it matter if the guardian you choose for yourself likes you or not I couldn't really find an answer anywhere
Welcome to CK3! The opinion of the guardian will not affect the quality of the education. Instead, they can be invited to a hostile scheme against you. In the early game you shouldn't have any rivals to begin with so it usually doesn't matter. But another source of potential murderers would be your heir. Check to see if that heir has ambitious or greedy personality traits. Each character has an AI personality on their character page. An amibitous, greedy character might be a 'Rapacious Blackguard' and if they're your heir, they might try to murder you. Note only rulers can start schemes, so if you're a count then your heir is usually an unlanded character so you would be safe from that route as well. However, if you start as a duke+ ruler then you will have to watch out for greedy heirs. Otherwise, if you're later in the game, then the opinion as I mentioned before will only really matter if your house has rivals and someone is trying to get rid of you. I assume you saw a lot of info on what to prioritize for guardians, but let me know if you need additional help.
Once you create a character, finalize him/her. Then you just create another character over that character. The first character won't appear until you load into the game you'll see them as a wanderer / courtier
Thank you for the kind comment! I have 2480 hours currently, but when I started making videos last year I think I was probably around 900 hours? I'm pretty meticulous about my scripts so 10 minutes for a video takes about 10-15 hours for scripting/recording/editing and CK3 is almost always running in the background because of this.
Your custom ruler's age would need to be at least 32 then you can add 1 son who will be 16 (Your age - 16). If you add multiple children, their ages will be spread out. Like if you're 32 and you pick 2 sons, they will be 16 and 15 years of age. Unfortunately, you cannot start with any siblings unless you are a pre-made character
my fav ruler for starting forefather is: 42 year old man temperate stubborn content 2 star learning education herculian athletic irritable and disloyal.

They did but not completely. They added a -200 success modifier for when you are at war. But if you declare war right at the moment you get the abduct notification, even if the chance gets decreased down to 5%, it actually still fires at the normal 85% / whatever chance you had. This could be patched in the future, but as of today, it is still working.
I don't know firsthand, but a recent poster on reddit said you can pick a ruler like normal and then there is a button that says create your own ruler. Double check the version you have since it seems first-release console CK3 did not have the character creator and it wasn't released until later
The console version is about 1.5-2 years behind PC patches and disloyal was added in the 1.7 "Bastion" / Friends & Foes DLC. You don't need the DLC to have access to the disloyal trait though it was part of the free patch portion of 1.7. Since I get disloyal for the -20 point refund, then on console you might need add some of the other negative stress traits at -5 each. Lazy/Shy are manageable negative personality traits and give -10 each (avoid paranoid, craven), some of the shunned religious traits may be contenders too at -5. Just double check they are shunned and not criminal.
This video is actually made without DLC, and I've labeled the videos as (no DLC) in the title and description so you can enjoy the info without needing DLC :) There is a lot of content gated behind DLC, but they also release a lot of free updates; although very slowly so I can understand the frustration. If it's any consolation, I'm sure eventually they will have something like a $5 monthly subscription to experience all the DLC without owning them, like they did in CK2. I hope you have a good day.
@@breadgodgaming sure, try it out if its your thing. I used your diplo character but with some changes for a 867 byzantine game without dlc and it became the strongest dynasty I've ever played. You can farm renown, become the pope of europe, vassal armenia before they become a kingdom, all much quicker compared to other starts

This an outstanding finding and definitely an exploit in terms of easy achievements (not that it matters since it is a casual sandbox). I can literally make a 100 stat with all traits gigachad spouse...wow this is an insane find.
I have a specific build that is super similar to yours haha. It's toward the end of my genetics video, but I do the same thing with giving a ton of negative traits and then putting 1 son and 19 daughters. The created ruler dies within 1 year and then I use the son to quickly reform a religion ASAP so I can marry the sisters with the best genetics. If I'm lucky the son or the sister will have pure-bred, or even luckier, both.

@@breadgodgaming I didn't realize that you could spend more than 400 points in the first character and limit yourself to only 400 in the second and still enable achievements. I just tried it out and you are correct! I then created a 100 stat baby and a 120 yo starting character with a diplomacy lifestyle, all the prestige perks and compassionate. Use the starting gold to "Commission Epic" for renown (gives 75 if you chose family) then you can adopt your 100 stat baby. Feels slightly less dirty than editing a ruler file.
I made a 100 martial super commander, a 100 stewardship super steward, 100 intrigue super spy, and 100 diplomacy super chancellor, a maxed out traits super baby wife, and the usual 400 points 'achievement-legal' baby. It was absolutely ludicrous when I saw achievements were still enabled xD I won't be using that for my guides/playthroughs...but for casual play it was insane. Thank you for such an amazing find
How do you go about creating multiple characters for the same realm? Do i just save the characters, make my starting ruler and the saved ones will appear in game?
@@JK-ky5vu you make a custom character and hit “finish”. Then over that same character, create a new one and keep going as long as you like. If you don’t do it to the same realm, then you void achievements. For the final character, just make the ruler you want to play / is achievement legal. If you don’t care about achievements then it doesn’t matter. Once you enter the game, the other custom characters you made will not automatically spawn in your realms court, you have to search for them in the character finder. It may benefit you to grab a trait or two that is virtuous / gives good opinion so you can invite them.

Because the 70 year old will die faster, I think it's mandatory imo to have enough health for him to live a reasonable age. Otherwise, you can definitely replace strong for pureblooded for the 0/47 year old. Actually in hindsight, I should've made the baby's strong->pure-blooded because as he grows older, he has a chance to gain strong naturally. Whoops.
To cater to newer players, I thought it would be easier to give the two the extra years of life via strong instead of pure-blooded so they have an easier time consolidating their realm. I should have added a note saying you can replace it. Sorry about that.
@@breadgodgaming I guessed it as Pure Blood could wait till the 2nd Generation with a baby starting character. When you are 70 you don't have time to have 9 kids or to wait for Pure Blood to show up in your region.
That is true as well, although it can take 100+ years for a pure-blooded character to spawn. If you are quick and lucky, especially with the 70 year old, you can try to get a daughter with pure blooded then marry her (reform religion too) and keep seducing/break up (limited) with her to make as many pure-blooded babies as possible. From there it'll speed up the genetics program even faster, but definitely takes a lot of energy / focus that you will need for your conquering. Because you can't seduce/romance while traveling, it makes it much harder to multi-task the seduction when I need to do certain things like be commander for raider/elevate kingdom of mann decision
I didn't realize how strong older characters could be. This entire time I just been making them very young adults to have the most time with them(without being a kid).
Indeed! They spawn with so many perks they are ready to go out the gate and are especially strong if you have a specific playstyle in mind.

Thank you for your kind words! The PS5 is multiple patches / DLC behind the desktop version. If what I'm reading is correct, the latest update was the Fate of Iberia patch which was released Dec 2023 for consoles, but that was released May 2022 for desktop. I just did some digging into the history of changes in the patch notes and patch 1.7 "Bastion" / Friends & Foes DLC released on 9/8/2022 was when disloyal/loyal was added. If they take about 1.5 years to release a console patch, then 1.5 months is about this month or the next but that's just extrapolation.
For the missing -20 refund points than you might need add some of the other negative stress traits at -5 each, lazy is a manageable negative personality trait and gives -10 (avoid paranoid, craven), some of the shunned religious traits may be contenders too at -5. Just double check they are shunned and not criminal.

I had a ran that started with this build: 70 years old bosnian Krstjani, 1 star learning education, genius, hale and comely, Temperate, Diligent and Disloyal.
My goal was to be a Uber tall ruler and make a Tall kingdom of Bosnia, although the Pope removed the Ecumenical trait from Krstjani and started Crusading me... so at the end I reformed creating the Neo-Krstjani faith and Dismantled the Papacy, formed the Roman and the Slavia empires... repelled the Mongol invasion and at the end i Gifted the Roman Empire to the Neo-Krstjani head of Faith and kept only Slavia untile 1453

Sayyid is a great trait as it’s inherited and gives +10 modifier with Islamic characters. This can be handy for vassal management in places like Spain. You can be of any religion, so there’s no restriction .. and it only costs 10 points
I thought it was only 5 opinion? It adds a ton of initial legitimacy in the new free update, so I think this trait is worth more now. It might be squeezable in custom ruler for a muslim realm, but I think it's a luxury trait for a custom character as you can just breed it in with an existing character.

I always go for it though. Sure.. you can marry in, but it’s dirt cheap and is guaranteed to be inherited. So a long term investment.
Another trick is to create a character then overwrite them with a new one. They remain in the game and you can hire them as an advisor or get a bespoke wife/husband.. first few days only as they tend to wander or get snapped up by someone else

at 11:25 you say that custom characters get double the health from traits, how did you figure that out with health not being shown as a number?
The debug mode will show you the health of current characters. I often use the debug mode to test out my theories and game mechanics and as I was theory crafting on custom character builds I noticed that the spawned health was much higher than I expected. I tested a few variations and confirmed that any health boosts are doubled and any penalties remain the same. I didn't see any info on this on the wiki or reddit so I'm not sure if it's intended or not.

100% agree. All runs that start off as 'playing tall and small' end up being Roman Empire and/or Mongol Empire. As long as they have the decisions there, I don't think I will stop doing them :)

Why does the hairstyle not show in game? For the Thor build the hair shows normal in character creation but for some reason my character has very short hair in game...
Do you have any mods enabled? There was also a balding update after this video was released, so characters sometimes start balding, although I think they toned it down a bit since
I'm kind of new to the game but when you create a child character does it matter if the guardian you choose for yourself likes you or not I couldn't really find an answer anywhere
Welcome to CK3! The opinion of the guardian will not affect the quality of the education. Instead, they can be invited to a hostile scheme against you. In the early game you shouldn't have any rivals to begin with so it usually doesn't matter. But another source of potential murderers would be your heir. Check to see if that heir has ambitious or greedy personality traits. Each character has an AI personality on their character page. An amibitous, greedy character might be a 'Rapacious Blackguard' and if they're your heir, they might try to murder you. Note only rulers can start schemes, so if you're a count then your heir is usually an unlanded character so you would be safe from that route as well. However, if you start as a duke+ ruler then you will have to watch out for greedy heirs. Otherwise, if you're later in the game, then the opinion as I mentioned before will only really matter if your house has rivals and someone is trying to get rid of you.
I assume you saw a lot of info on what to prioritize for guardians, but let me know if you need additional help.
How to create 2 character?
Once you create a character, finalize him/her. Then you just create another character over that character. The first character won't appear until you load into the game you'll see them as a wanderer / courtier

I'm pretty meticulous about my scripts so 10 minutes for a video takes about 10-15 hours for scripting/recording/editing and CK3 is almost always running in the background because of this.

Your custom ruler's age would need to be at least 32 then you can add 1 son who will be 16 (Your age - 16). If you add multiple children, their ages will be spread out. Like if you're 32 and you pick 2 sons, they will be 16 and 15 years of age. Unfortunately, you cannot start with any siblings unless you are a pre-made character

I thought they fixed the abduct to win wars tactic
They did but not completely. They added a -200 success modifier for when you are at war. But if you declare war right at the moment you get the abduct notification, even if the chance gets decreased down to 5%, it actually still fires at the normal 85% / whatever chance you had. This could be patched in the future, but as of today, it is still working.
Usually when I play custom rulers I start their age at 0-4
I love playing age 0 rulers since I get to rule for basically 100 years and finish a lot of goals!

I don't know firsthand, but a recent poster on reddit said you can pick a ruler like normal and then there is a button that says create your own ruler. Double check the version you have since it seems first-release console CK3 did not have the character creator and it wasn't released until later

Playing on console unable to find disloyal trait
The console version is about 1.5-2 years behind PC patches and disloyal was added in the 1.7 "Bastion" / Friends & Foes DLC. You don't need the DLC to have access to the disloyal trait though it was part of the free patch portion of 1.7. Since I get disloyal for the -20 point refund, then on console you might need add some of the other negative stress traits at -5 each. Lazy/Shy are manageable negative personality traits and give -10 each (avoid paranoid, craven), some of the shunned religious traits may be contenders too at -5. Just double check they are shunned and not criminal.

This video is actually made without DLC, and I've labeled the videos as (no DLC) in the title and description so you can enjoy the info without needing DLC :) There is a lot of content gated behind DLC, but they also release a lot of free updates; although very slowly so I can understand the frustration. If it's any consolation, I'm sure eventually they will have something like a $5 monthly subscription to experience all the DLC without owning them, like they did in CK2. I hope you have a good day.

@@breadgodgaming sure, try it out if its your thing. I used your diplo character but with some changes for a 867 byzantine game without dlc and it became the strongest dynasty I've ever played. You can farm renown, become the pope of europe, vassal armenia before they become a kingdom, all much quicker compared to other starts
