    Hey actor! If you’re still hunting for the perfect fit monologue, I’ve put together a collection of my favourite Shakespeare monologues sorted by casting type and general vibe. Makes it easy to pick one you love and another one to contrast. You can find it here: shakespearewithsarah.com/shakespeare-collection/

    Thank you! These videos are SO helpful. I’ve got an audition coming up and I think there’ll be a tough competition; your videos are really helping me to learn new things and gain confidence. Also, can you maybe suggest some tips on how to stay concentrated if there are some disturbances during the audition ( like people talking, laughing )?

    Hi there! Thank you so much for all these videos, they’re so helpful!!!! I was wondering: the first monolog of Helena‘s is definitely not in blankvers but is the second one? „Lo she is one of this confederacy!“ Many thanks!

    • @ShakespearewithSarah
      @ShakespearewithSarah  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! I just uploaded a video about blank verse that might help: th-cam.com/video/aKONGEzie9s/w-d-xo.html
      They are both definitely in blank verse!

    Could you plzz help me what Accent does Helena have?

    • @ShakespearewithSarah
      @ShakespearewithSarah  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Rutendo! Generally Shakespeare’s characters don’t have specific accents, there are only a few that do. It’s usually up to the director of each production to decide what accents they would like. Best practice currently is to use your natural accent unless asked to do something else. Hope that helps!

    i do have a question! what is the type of tone she uses, like is it over dramatic, posh stuff like that? because im quite stuck on what voice to audition with.

    • @ShakespearewithSarah
      @ShakespearewithSarah  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Use YOUR voice. You don’t need to change your vocal tone for the character. As long as you understand her intentions, you’ll be fine.
      One caveat: if the production you’re auditioning for is likely to be “big”, very “theatrical” etc and you KNOW they will want you to make a vocal choice, then experiment with different ones and see which feels the most interesting to you. Try whiny, loud and bossy, etc.

    Hey Sarah! I'm thinking of doing the "how happy" monologue in modern English. Do you think that's a good idea?

    • @ShakespearewithSarah
      @ShakespearewithSarah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Palesa! What are you doing it for? An audition, exam, or competition? Something else?

    • @palesaiileka5552

      @@palesaiileka5552 Have they asked for a Shakespeare monologue or can you choose anything?

    • @palesaiileka5552
      @palesaiileka5552 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShakespearewithSarah I can choose anything. It's just a monologue I like (in it's original form) but I'm not sure if it will be understood.

    • @ShakespearewithSarah
      @ShakespearewithSarah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. Ok. Well personally I don’t recommend performing something you’ve written yourself for an audition (even if it’s an adaptation), because then your audition is not just depending on your acting skills, but your writing skills as well. I would recommend picking something else that speaks to you. Keep in mind as well, you want to choose something that’s a similar style to the play you’re auditioning for. So if it’s a period drama, pick a monologue from another period drama; if it’s a modern comedy, pick something from another comedy, etc.
