  • Dissociation can be seen as being on a continuum in the population. It can serve as a defensive response when faced with emotionally overwhelming experiences or recalled memories. Clients with significant dissociation can have difficulty connecting to past memories, necessary when we want to reprocess these with EMDR Therapy. We need to be able to stabilise our clients and ensure we keep them contained before starting any reprocessing. This video provides useful tips.

This is great. I am an EMDR therapist in Olympia, WA. I am researching disassociation more thoroughly. I am attempting to treat a person with schizoaffective disorder who is newly stable. Due diligence. I do love the DES-II. Thanks Michael.

Excellent Michael. Will be taking the advanced training with you this Autumn in working with dissociation and ego states. Very fortunate to have come across your work.

You are not DID- you are a person with DID. I hope you get to do EMDR soon. Shalom
