@@TheKeenMechanic Big jobs indeed, but as you said it definitely makes for good content! Always a pleasure, I thoroughly enjoy your interesting video's :)
Just double checking before i remove old and put in new driveshaft. Q. Is there a circlip on the inner spline side of driveshaft? Like on other vehicle models. (Not the wee white plastic collar bit, but in the recess after splines). Great video breakdown as usual, top fella for videoing + explaining, cheers lad.
Hi lad, no clips on the splines, just remove the hub nut, then remove the few bolts on the bracket that holds the middle shaft and just pull out. It comes out really easy. The long driveshaft acts a bit like a sliding hammer effect and pulls out the splines from the diff realy easy. Thanks for watching and for writing such a nice comment
Great videos friend, I’m doing the full front suspension on my van and these are really useful to prepare, love that give part numbers and spanner sizes. Also am in NI so nice to see your work and the quality of it too !!
Hi buddy I am glad to hear you are liking the content, you will be glad to hear there is a lot more content coming. I have removed the engine and gearbox so there will be plenty more to cover almost every part of the vehicle. What county are you in?
County Down, how about you ? By the way , just finished replacing the front suspension with the help of your videos. The inner tie rod arms were a nightmare, but got there in the end !@@TheKeenMechanic
@@richardsefton561 Hi I am in Co. Fermanagh. Glad to hear you got it sorted and that you are finding my videos helpful. I am currently rebuilding the PK6 gearbox so should make interesting content for some of the future videos🤞
Look forward to your next video mate I’ve found them very helpful as I have been restoring my 05 vivaro myself I’m currently contemplating whether to take the engine and gear box out to restore them as they are the only things left 😅
Nice video as allwsys 😊 But how to replace the inner boot? Do i need to cut the metall casing? Can you do a video on that? Im asking because i have bad vibrations when accelerating in like gear 4 or 5 it is noticed more. Even a clonking sound over bumps and all is replaced but not the left outer cv joint . Can it make this sound ? Shocks are new also
@@360hackern Hi It could be wheel bearings (I have had times where I replaced them and they became noisy after 1000 miles then replaced again and no issues. It can also be noisy gearbox bearings also which is not good. It could also be the driveshaft bearing too. Unlikely to be the driveshaft cv joint but you never know. They normally make clicking noise at full lock or when you turn sharp and accelerate hard. Best of luck
Bro made it look simple! Noticed you didn’t remove the steering arm and lower ball joint, do I not need to do that? Rather do as little as possible 😂 I’m doing the passenger side. Subscribed
Got most of it off, hub nut was bit hard to crack suspension fine but looking I can’t see anything that secures the driveshaft to the gearbox. It’s an 07 2.0 ctdi but thought be roughly the same. No bolts or clamps but I do need my eyes tested
@@bluedragon13063 not sure how yours is. Mine has a few bolts that hold the driveshaft in place. If nothing in your case just give it a good pull and might come out
when i pulled the drive shaft out the split shaft came off so i only got the first part of the drive shaft out.. tried to get it back in but now when i start and put in gear it doesn't sound good and vibrates. how do I get the shaft right in the middle? the part where the bearing sits on the shaft
@@360hackern Watch the video in detail, I am sorry but I can't help you more than what is shown in the video. The middle section with the bearing slides in place with no effort and then you secure it with the C-shaped clamp and a few bolts. Best of luck
Can a drive shaft make a knocking noise when going over bumps and cobbles of the bearing is knackered? I have a knocking I’ve had all my arms and tie rods done. Only thing I can think of is shocker or drive shaft
Can i ask you a question. My mk2 trafic sometime is difficult to start. Ive been told its the ignition barrel. If i change it do i have to change the keys. Love your channel as you explain everything in plain English.
Hi buddy. I am sorry I can't answer this as you need an electrician to check the van in place. I have never had to change the ignition barrel on any of my cars but I reckon you will need new keys. I have seen people selling barrels on the internet with the keys. Thanks for your mrssage
What actually stops the oil from coming out the gearbox once you have installed the new driveshaft? Is it that plastic thing that you inserted at the gearbox end? Nice vid by the way.
Hi No, it is the oil seal that I inserted the rubber cone into. It is similar to a crankshaft seal. Thanks for watching, by the way I have a ton of content on the trafic / vivaro platform
Hi, if you are removing the short one- front left you will lose some gearbox oil. If you are removing front right -long one shown in this video you will not use any oil. I have currently removed the gearbox and engine and working on them🤝🏻
@@TheKeenMechanic Thanks for your reply. I need to pull out the right axle, like you in the video, because I need to replace the white plastic gasket that the mechanic broke when he changed my clutch and he didn't tell me that. And now let me ask you, there is a rubber gasket that is in this white plastic gasket and which is no longer on the old broken white plastic gasket, did that rubber gasket remain in the gearbox and should I take it out and in what way? I see the rubber gasket is in the new plastic gasket.
@@burakburak1173 I need to replace mine too to be honest. I need to find the part number for it and I can imagine it is only available from the dealer. When I get to the gearbox I will see if the diff seal can be replaced without taking the box apart. Will make a video on it too but not sure when I will be able as I have very little spare time at the moment
I didn't see you drain gearbox oil. Also no oil came from it once you removed the shaft, if your oil level was correct it would have, is it possible the cause of the noise is a lack of or insufficient oil in the gearbox?
Hi Oil came out but wasn't captured in the footage. I have since this rebuilt the gearbox and was worn bearings (full process recorded and will edit when I get some spare time). Thanks for your message
