I’m fairly sure an uncle of mine is crossing the bottom of Peter Street as the car comes round, LOL. What’s striking about this video is how little the street scape has changed, architecturally (a few pubs and shops have changed hands, particularly Cafolla’s, McHale’s, Rosbeg Stores etc. but that’s about it). Dunno whether this is due to it being a planned town or Westport being a tight community.
I got married in New York in 1986 and spent 10 weeks in Ireland on my honeymoon and getting straightened out with US immigration. I spent a couple of nights in Westport on the way to or from Achill. Somehow this video almost looked like it was in black and white .... the drab weather made it look that way I think.
And before the government decided to import hundred's of thousands eastern european wage slaves and spongers to stagnate wages drive up housing costs and destroy the irish working class.
