They are one band that definitely had to toil away for many years to gain the recognition and status they enjoy today. It is gratifying to see many years of dedication and hard work be rewarded. Music is often political and I'm proud they have the courage to express what they are passionate about. I don't know the individuals that make up DCFC personally, but have seen them perform at very small modest venues and they are good hard working people and patriotic Americans. The best part to me is that this is perfect criticism that I could see coming from someone who supported him, but still found valid criticism for a flawed man. Even if you support someone, it can be important to criticize them if they make potentially harmful mistakes.
I don't support him. Ben and DCFC don't support him. Seeing this song as an outright attack is myopic, although they could have been heavy-handed with it and been completely justified.
