Lived on Canvey Island for 45 years after 27 years in South Wales, Bristol, Stoke-on-Trent, Huddersfield, Manchester, Sheffield and London.
We're both retired now, volunteering in various community groups including the Dutch Cottage Museum.
Very differerent history to that of my previous industrial communities.
Forty years ago I started professionally as a supervisor on the local lake project, spending 2 years there, after 10 years in technical sales in Europe previously.
The island has changed considerably over the last 45 years!

@@paradiseworldvideos3859 Hey, Good morning 👋🏻. No, I didn’t enjoy your upload, I absolutely loved it. We had a Caravan on field 7. Those were the best days of my life. We also had to wait until 17:30, the electricity had to be switched on lol, believe it or not? It was also turned off at 09:00.
We had no mobiles, laptops or even a computer but we all made friends very easily. We had Six weeks every year. It was amazing and to top things off, there was only one Telephone Box on the campsite, outside the cafe. Absolutely beautiful memories.
There was this Women, then she was 23 years old, with the best tan ever, she was so brown.
She used to wash her blue escort car, which her father bought her. I was just gobsmacked, her beauty was in another level wow, she had this long black hair too and a size 12. (Relax, I wasn’t a predator in the making lmao 🤣) She was friends with my friend, who I just can’t remember her name ( The next caravan to hers) my friend told my friend that I liked her, she was laughing and said… Could you imagine her holding my hand? People would think she’s a Pedo! Lol could you imagine the thoughts running through my head at 14 years old? Lol hahahaa let’s not go there.
Not long after, I believe it was mid 90s, the rent was getting ridiculous, more and more caravans were been taken off the field which is a shame. We, I still visit Canvey Island to this day. The only difference now is the Island is more populated. Driving can be a nightmare.
I’m not sure if you already know or not? But the Lobster smack has a really nice history to it too. I believe back in the day (not sure the century) it was used for illegal smuggling Alcohol and also bare knuckle fighting too. My heart will forget belong to Canvey Island. I too look out for the Canvey Island Football scores even though my team is Tottenham FC.
We used to visit the Concorde club just behind the camp site.

I grew up in canvey all the way untill almost 22. Moved to Canada. Its changed so much. I use to love woolworths, and there was a cheap dollar like store by Sainsbury's. Thqt also use to be q different grocery store, trying to think what it was. So different. So many memories of frequent shopping wirh my dad there.
Yes we moved from east London to Canvey in 2007 live there till 2015 before moving to Spain 🇪🇸
Canvey was like a different world 🌎 it was a amazing place the people so friendly .still think it’s a great place .
