I'm a solo outdoor/legacy content WoW player. After 15 fairly consistent years in the game, my only considerations are "Am I having fun?" and "Can I do it solo?" Thanks for providing solid, insightful tips and reminders for us altoholics and roleplayers and everyone who has discovered their own unique way to enjoy WoW.
New player here level 36 hunter solo player. Just taking my sweetness time enjoying the vibe coming from eso ( many many years). I think wow has something for everyone as far as I can see.
Point 3: Can I do it Solo? That's 100% my philosophy for WoW too... I've even found it hard to level with other players, because if I sit there with another player, I feel chained to the computer and can't get distracted by going to get some water, or read something on another screen, or whatever. So having solo-friendly content where you can take breaks without issue can be very soothing.
It's unreal that your vids out of over 20 tubers I watch , is real. Tells the truth. So many tubers are so full of it with all the gold farming . Everything depends on server prices and not many tell viewers about that. I run 48 toons and treat all as mains and yes it's a lot of time and work, and seen a lot in wow. Too many tubers BS just to get clicks. Love ur vids keep it up
Raw gold may not make as much as playing the AH but you are right it is more fun and a good bonus to completing other objectives like going on a transmog run. Recently I was farming heroic WoD dungeons for the dungeon set and recolors on my warrior, and I was making on average 2k raw gold per dungeon which adds up quickly to average about 15k after doing the circuit daily. I know that is peanuts to an experienced auction house aficionado, but was definitely a nice bonus on top of the transmogs I was going for. I even got a few valuable BoEs that could make a good chunk of change if the damn things would sell! They may be up for high prices on the AH but you can't make other players buy it lol.
And that, right there, is why I do raw gold and farming for most of my income. "If the damn things would sell". Most of the truly high profit items take ages and ages to sell... and I get really REALLY bored of re-listing the same massive inventory for months. Which is not a problem with raw gold (instant profit), or gathered materials (Fish, cloth, enchanting mats, herbs, skins, ores, gems, etc... all the raw profession mats).
I definitely think Raw Gold is quite good, especially when there are sources in the game currently like SL callings. The main draw for me is that, as you say, it is not relying on other players at all - and as so it doesn't matter if someone else is trying to corner the market, or blizzard shifts a droprate etc, instead it's there whenever you want to go back to it unless it has been explicitly nerfed, and without you sitting there with spreadsheets and market watch addons to figure out what to focus on. And you'll always get some items like pets, transmog and other drops that is likely to sell for higher than vendor value, and you can always dump that on the AH too and see if it sells, without that making or breaking your process.
Most important about raw gold, its immediate satisfaction. The second you vendor something mission complete, meanwhile the AH can take days to pay out. The amount of valuable transmogs I have lost patience for and just vendored after the 20th reposting expired probably could have bought me a Brutosaur lol.
I just discovered your channel last week. I've been back to wow for about 2 months after a nearly 2 year break. Your videos are so helpful. You have way more alts than I do but I have a similar playstyle with farming mounts, mog, pets, etc.
What I currently do. 1. I do the daily quests that give chests (1800-2000) gold. 2. Fly and pick legendary chests that appear in game here and there. Usually 1 per area. 500-600 gold. 3. I save all the auction materials and green items that can be sold. (Usually about 2-3k gold every 1-3 days.) sometimes I get double but it’s just estimated based on play time. 4. We all got table with the companions. I leveled them all to lvl 60 and when I get gold missions it’s again another 600-900 gold a day. When gold missions are absent I take the ones that give you material chests so I can later auction. This does not prevent me from playing the content, dungeons, raids. All of this is about 30 min -1hr a day type a thing. Just had to be creative so I can save gold for legendary items etc… Hope this helps and makes sense haha
Love the raw gold explanation & reasoning. Who cares about the haters!! Works for you, also works for me & that’s my fave way: to explore wherever I want, get a chance at mogs / mounts / collectibles, while getting gold!! I didn’t realize how lucrative instance farming was ‘til I started farming one for the fire Druid mog. Most gold per hour I ever made 😆
My fave thing for raw gold farming is making speed sets on my DH as Havoc DH Mastery gives them movement speed, so stack the speed gems, speed enchants, and stack mastery gear with speed stat on it, running at 200% run speed with 100% uptime and also having the fel rush talent makes it one of the fastest class for raw gold farming. Druid is also great with speed set too.

What I like to do on any old content solo farm is to have one clothie, one leather wearer, one mail and one plate wearer for farming purposes. I don't take all of them out at once, obviously. But I use my main druid until I finish every BoP I can get from a dungeon/raid; and when I'm lucky/persistent enough, I swap to another gear type for that dungeon/raid. This gives me personal transmog on top of getting gold. And if I get to drop some amazing BoE that I already have and sell for good gold, that's the cherry on the top.
I loved farming WoD raids each week on my main for the raw gold but the nerf killed it for me. Only made maybe 1-2k gold. Once I got my Warrior set I just stopped. Much easier ways to earn 1-2k gold by just playing through daily content. The raw gold nerf is probably in my list of worst things to come out of SL as a whole. Though I do enjoy running the older stuff for mog selling. The goal I want to reach before Dragonflight is to get my alts up to lvl 60 (I only exclusively played an Arms Warrior and never had alts before) and max out every profession through every expansion. It's a bit lofty for sure. My Leatherworking/Skinner is the first in the pipeline. Druid was quite a different experience to Arms but not sure I enjoy it as much lol. Oh yeah, and a Druid alt just for dual gathering ore and herbs. Will probably be the last alt I level up since my Arms Warrior already has mining maxed out and that character is purely a gold maker and profession support alt.
I definitely rely more on raw gold than I do the market or professions. As the xpacs go on I have less and less time to farm mats or post auctions. It's also nice to not have to keep up with cleaning out mail as sometimes I just take a break from my alts and my AH alt can even get forgotten about for awhile, can't tell you how many times I've lost items during those times if I thought I'd cleared the mail before shelving the toon for a bit. ( I have more than one AH toon as I'm on a few realms.) About to start working a bit harder on the raw gold front on the alt army until next season starts, and the nexts xpac.

My bank alt is a rogue with engineering and enchanting that I keep in the Vale AH area so I can unlock lockboxes and disenchant boes that don't sell for much. :3

1 tip you missed, if you are Necrolord and have Plague Deviser Marileth as your Soulbind, you get a free key to unlock any lockbox and using Fleshcraft lowers the cd of it.
They certainly won't be buffed again unfortunately (unless they do something unexpected, raw gold from old content is pretty much never buffed). We should be able to farm BFA easier and start dipping into SL later in DF though, so those would be next on the plate of un-nerfed instances.
I'm kind of wondering what kind of mounts can be used for farming herbalism? I've usually just used a druid for mining and herbalism due to travel form. Is there a mount that's capable of both?
There are only two mounts able to work with herbalism (Sky Golem and Mechanized Lumber Extracter), but no mounts for mining. In some expansions (like Legion and BFA) however, there are items called "Stirrups" (like Monel-Hardededn Stirrups) that will let you interact with nodes while mounted on any mount as long as you are in that expansion.
I know this is an old video but I would love to know the name of that paladins transmog,the viking'esque one. And where /how can you get it? Would love it for a warrior character.

I went I spent like quest/raw gold for a mount to repair an vendor an trash items payed for it's self in like 2 weeks raiding an farming mounts an stuff so worth it to do stuff though AH sells I agree hurts gold making... so raw gold is the best
By 'get gear', does 229 korthia buyable greens count enough? So far I have been alt armying and haven't gotten many even to the start of Korthia, let alone to the point of using the chained dude to activate those orange borrowed power items. I pushed a character to 80 renown to get buyable renown catchups and conduit catchups. Feels so much that gear is less important than borrowed power now, though farming comp stomp for honor gears (weapons and trinkets, at least) and weeklies when a gear quest is up helps
50+ will let you do Vanilla-WoD stuff fairly comfortably. At 60, you can do some Legion and BFA stuff, but you may want more gear here. I'm hoping both of those will be more soloable late Dragonflight.
One thing I've noticed about older content especially raids and everything is Blizzard has nerfed the gold drop rate and the cost of the drops off of bosses which I think is ridiculous for some reason blizzard has his fear that players are going to get rich literally the only game I play and I play every single triple a title that you can think of that is afraid of their players making gold by having fun
I also play OS runescape and for some reason i have absolutely no problem making all the gold in the world in that game but i cant for the life of me ever figure out decent ways to make good gold per hour outside of mining and herbing at the height of an expansion
So with all the gold making you do, what do you spend your gold on? It doesn't sound like you are at gold cap and talk about how you never stay broke for long.
I don't really do that much gold making these days as there's no current gold sink, but the gold I do get I usually spend on collectables like mounts, transmog, pets, recipes, and so on.
I mean, i get the arguments. But if youre someone is doing old raids and dungeons i wouldnt advise that person to just rely on raw gold. There are BoEs that will drop in the process, and since youll be doing this old content for a long time anyway, you should be able to stack up a good amount and variety of it. Selling those items on the Auction House will give you a good bonus, and maybe even outdo the gold you make from the raw aspect alone. And there is no extra activity needed except for mailing the stuff to an alt maybe.l
the thing is making gold, takes time you would otherwise use to actually play the game... like pvp pve... if there was a way to play the game and get gold passively while playing the game would be great
raw gold sinks are to stop inflation. think of it in a simple sense. you have 10gold. you are the only player. a new player joins. they farm 100,000 raw gold. player 3 joins the game. they start crafting potions that you and player 2 needs. player 2 will simply price you out of the market, meaning the "value" of those potions is dumb high. that is inflation.
I used to play with 50 charas back in the day garrisons were good. Now I can't be bothered to play with maybe 1 a week or so. As Garrosh said... Times change.
if only HFC gave 9k gold...ran both mythic and heroic and made about 1k from all the gear drops. unless your talking about the value of the disenchant value of the mats....
After the Auction House update, my resales dropped to almost zero. Before that, I bought materials, broke them into stacks and put them at different prices. Since about 8.2, I have earned about 13 million gold on resales alone. Now my lots are constantly being cut. I have already lost about two million gold. Sad. But on classic servers, the old strategy works fine, but I can't buy a token for gold there.

raw gold in shadowlands is terrible, blizzard nerfed raw gold farms like 2 years ago, best gold farming is old world mats/crafts combiend with current content
The only people making profit off raw gold right now is bots, with many many of them. This makes almost nothing now compared to even the worst herbing and mining even..
you shouldn't need a degree on economics to make bs gold in a NONE REAL WORLD GAME thats where people screw up is assuming this is anything like real life game first and the best farm I've ever done is not what i saw on youtube to give someone begging for likes soloing anything is the best way to make gold only real nerds and sweats give a shit about that ah there is nothing on my realm in the ah that's useful its a bunch of overpriced garbage so i agree the soloing stuff is better and way more fun than dredging through this game making a handful of gold a day without addons that there are to many of as is

Love the video. I have to agree I enjoy using the hunter myself and often utilize my pet to distract mobs so I can farm different nodes if needed.

Most of it is the Bloodwake set from Island Expeditions. They're all boes though, so you can buy them in the AH!

I like fury warriors for farming legacy. Whirlwind is great. Just run and spin. I guess monks can do that too though.

I also play OS runescape and for some reason i have absolutely no problem making all the gold in the world in that game but i cant for the life of me ever figure out decent ways to make good gold per hour outside of mining and herbing at the height of an expansion
So with all the gold making you do, what do you spend your gold on? It doesn't sound like you are at gold cap and talk about how you never stay broke for long.
I don't really do that much gold making these days as there's no current gold sink, but the gold I do get I usually spend on collectables like mounts, transmog, pets, recipes, and so on.

I mean, i get the arguments. But if youre someone is doing old raids and dungeons i wouldnt advise that person to just rely on raw gold. There are BoEs that will drop in the process, and since youll be doing this old content for a long time anyway, you should be able to stack up a good amount and variety of it. Selling those items on the Auction House will give you a good bonus, and maybe even outdo the gold you make from the raw aspect alone. And there is no extra activity needed except for mailing the stuff to an alt maybe.l
the thing is making gold, takes time you would otherwise use to actually play the game... like pvp pve... if there was a way to play the game and get gold passively while playing the game would be great
raw gold sinks are to stop inflation. think of it in a simple sense. you have 10gold. you are the only player. a new player joins. they farm 100,000 raw gold. player 3 joins the game. they start crafting potions that you and player 2 needs. player 2 will simply price you out of the market, meaning the "value" of those potions is dumb high. that is inflation.

After the Auction House update, my resales dropped to almost zero. Before that, I bought materials, broke them into stacks and put them at different prices. Since about 8.2, I have earned about 13 million gold on resales alone. Now my lots are constantly being cut. I have already lost about two million gold. Sad.
But on classic servers, the old strategy works fine, but I can't buy a token for gold there.
Sure raw gold is great, but its low so it sucks if you realy need gold you allways do trading or farming.

raw gold in shadowlands is terrible, blizzard nerfed raw gold farms like 2 years ago, best gold farming is old world mats/crafts combiend with current content

The only people making profit off raw gold right now is bots, with many many of them. This makes almost nothing now compared to even the worst herbing and mining even..

you shouldn't need a degree on economics to make bs gold in a NONE REAL WORLD GAME thats where people screw up is assuming this is anything like real life game first and the best farm I've ever done is not what i saw on youtube to give someone begging for likes soloing anything is the best way to make gold only real nerds and sweats give a shit about that ah there is nothing on my realm in the ah that's useful its a bunch of overpriced garbage so i agree the soloing stuff is better and way more fun than dredging through this game making a handful of gold a day without addons that there are to many of as is
