Hello! This morning i melted down some scrap silver wires into balls, then hammered them into disc components. I'm making earrings for a friend's birthday. Tonight your tutorial came up in my feed. 😊 Your design is beautiful! Don't you just love making "pretty" from leftovers?! Thank you!
There are several other creative one-of-a kind ways to use scrap silver but it involves using a torch and crucible to melt the silver in: keep flame on molten silver that has been sprinkled ×ith & pour from a slight heigth into a container of water, no pieces will be alike; take a straw broom if you have a beat up one, cut the ends off fairly evenly, cut the handle shorter & force it into a can of sand to hold the shortened broom upright, then pour molten silver from crucible into broom bristles, this creates a one-of-kind design; another way is to use a snow melt (the type used in machines to make ice cream at home) in a container by pouring the molten silver into the snow melt. Then when the silver has solidifed, takes only seconds, take it to the sink run it under warm water & watch the snow melt disappear. Many years ago, 1960's-1980's, used some of these ideas to create unique pieces of jewelry. In those days there was No Internet, PC's, Kindles', c-phones. Only jewelry classes in Craft centers in U.S. or learning from books on jewelry making & there weren't that many in pre-1960 until perhaps early 1980's. Now there are many more plus the Internet.
