Hey could you recommend me best motherboards to choose between ASUS and MSI do you think is the most reliable and least of the claimed mark just think about MSI GAMING Z170 M5 or ASUS MAXIMUS VIII and Ranger Z170 Este MSI GAMING M7 need on the Intel Core i7-6700K because citam negative reviews on Amazon for MSI but I like better the MSI so advise you whether it's worth thank you
+Joseph D that normally means the boot drive isn't connected right - or the bios isn't posting properly. Does hitting delete when it starts up do anything?
Hey! Built my first pc and used this beastly Mobo and a 1070,I was curios. Do i need to install some sort of drivers? I don't plan on using the disk given, usually out of date. Are there certain drivers or downloads I need to make to further increase my performance? Thanks!
Nice review, but I had one thing to say about the cons: While looks are an added bonus, a board that functions the way you need it to might just be more important. :-)
+OG Negro I'd compare this to the Z170 Maximus Hero personally, and as I said in the video it's really up to you as the main difference is the bios which do basically the same thing, accept a couple of different features.
That really isn't that bad. It was also likely manufactured just fine but many previous reviewers with heavy hands bent it a little. Still isn't an issue, nor the worst I've seen.
TechteamGB LOL no, I've seen small resistors and caps fly off the board when they secure them down and sometimes problems don't show up for a couple years such as when people grab them with their paws without wearing ESD. Static damage does not show up until a few years down the road.
Does M7 Support Offset and Adaptive Voltage settings in BIOS ?Also how would this compare to GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7, which of these two MB have a better BIOS.
Also reviews say this Motherboard has Ram compatibility issues. With G-Skill 16GB DDR4 3200 F4-3200C16D-16GVK work with this board? Want my first build to go as smoothly as possible.
I watched this review and I just got this motherboard from Amazon and I got it today. I opened it and I noticed that the red and black shield was not screwed in to the motherboard. It just had some lose screws in the bag. Could you let me know if it actually comes like that or Does it come with the shield screwed in. I had a doubt as those screws also get screwed into the stand offs in the case. If you have clarify this for me, it will be really helpful. Thank you.
Building my first PC ever. Familiar with the hardware aspects, but not so much with software and BIOS. Wondering how beginner friendly this motherboard is?
SOOO GUYS! Big question here! im looking to upgrade, the m7 gets me wet, but the thing is, if i get an m5 i can buy a liquid cooler too seeing that its cheaper... i like to play games on high, but i am not a fan of overclocking... i would never boost and overclock my pc in any way... what do you reccomend?
Neither do, if I remember correctly! As I said in the video, if you want to overclock, get this one, otherwise is generally lean towards the hero. Hope that helps!
***** yeah I will ur right. Better to have something then nothing right? I'm gonna follow ur advice and I'm gonna get a 2400 maps card. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
That's the debug LED screen, it shows you two letters that you can reference from the manual to see what the error is. I believe MSI get it to display the CPU temp once the system is fully booted to an OS.
WiFi onboard, Dual Gigabit lan, some more advanced/external overclocking features, certain aesthetic elements, 3/4 way SLI configuration options, U.2, internal thunderbolt header, as far as I know, Thunderbolt 3 that should run through the USB Type-C port, more than 36W support through the Type C port (again as far as I know), and I'm sure there are a few more I'm forgetting.
Do you know which Z170 board has those features? With the exception of U.2 and useless onboard Wifi. My 10 year old desktop has wifi but anyone gaming should not be using anything other than lan.
Boards like thee Z170 XPOWER Titanium, Asus Maximus VIII Extreme and Formula, Gigabyte's G1 and Desagnaire boards all have those sorts of featues. While I agree with WiFi, when I've asked my viewers what they use in the past, it's overwhelmingly been WiFi, normally because it's difficult to run a cable to where they game.
Geez that is surprising, but running cables upstairs and downstairs is a hassle so I can understand that in those cases. I did take a look at the Extreme and the Formula..but I ultimately opted for 2 M.2 slots and HDMI 2.0 with the M7 over their offerings. Color scheme choice over the Gigabyte boards. Your review was pretty in depth and im quite glad you really didn't have many cons because the M7 is a great best bang for buck board. Sorry for all the B's. Keep up the great work!
MSI Z170A GAMING M9 ACK this is the big brother has AC wireless Wifi and other things he looking for well more added component much more expensive it is normal in motherboard prices and in case of the M7 lack of AC wifi just buy wifi card many PCIE slot to put on M7.
+Loxa You can easily remove the screws and put your motherboard screws through it to attach to the standoffs, or remove it and screw it in without it there.
no reason to get this board get the m5 version. its cheap and pretty much all the same features, even when I called MSI they said the m5 board is a better buy since the only real difference is the button on the mother board for the m7 which let's you press that instead of remove the small battery. It's actually funny that MSI even admitted that the m5 was way more worth it then the m7 and is also reflected in there total sales
M7 has better on board audio, io shield /coverDX12 instead of DX11 on the M5 more caps for better power delivery for over clocking, extra HDMI output, and the bios button i'm sure there are more differences. definatley worth the extra $40 aud in my opinion
There isin't better audio, it's still 2 ohm audio impedance I believe. Still better to get a mayflower external dac for like .54 ohm impedance and it's being processed outside of the computer.
+TechteamGB Lol thx, btw you sir have amazing videos. I found about your channel couple days a go and man, out off all tech channels, I have to say u are my favorite, keep it up man :)
Hey could you recommend me best motherboards to choose between ASUS and MSI do you think is the most reliable and least of the claimed mark just think about MSI GAMING Z170 M5 or ASUS MAXIMUS VIII and Ranger Z170 Este MSI GAMING M7 need on the Intel Core i7-6700K because citam negative reviews on Amazon for MSI but I like better the MSI so advise you whether it's worth thank you
I would choose msi no doubt
Is there a way to turn off all the leds on the motherboard (through the bios perhaps)?
what does your screen look like when you first boot? Do you get a black screen with a blinking white underscore?
+Joseph D that normally means the boot drive isn't connected right - or the bios isn't posting properly. Does hitting delete when it starts up do anything?
+TechteamGB it happens even when I disconnect all drives .Pressing delete makes it blink indefinitely and not proceed to Windows :(

+Taka the Hawk yes, head to MSIs website page for this board and download the drives there, then nvidia's site for the GPU driver.
Mother Msi Z170a Gaming M7 or msi z170a gaming pro carbon? recommend
+Gustavo Owen the m7 is a higher end board so I'd say that
Nice review, but I had one thing to say about the cons: While looks are an added bonus, a board that functions the way you need it to might just be more important. :-)
+Scorehound Agreed!
+OG Negro I'd compare this to the Z170 Maximus Hero personally, and as I said in the video it's really up to you as the main difference is the bios which do basically the same thing, accept a couple of different features.
hi,what graphic card will u recommended with this motherboard??can msi gtx 1060 fit into it??
+Mohd Qayyum Redi yup
cash moneeeyyy! not all of us have it :p
@1:43 That board was not manufactured correctly, it should not have that severe sagging in it.
Static damage does not show up until a few years down the road.
does this support 3 way nvidia sli?
if it dosent do you know what x170 mobo do?(excluding the evga classified ang gigabyt z170x gamming g1)
thanks
+MenderSlen579 I believe so, using a PLX chip on the board! Saying that, something like the G1, MSI Titanium, Asus VIII Extreme do as well!
hey just a suggestion but slow down your reviews a bit. found my self rewinding to catch what you said a few times. anyways still a great review
Does M7 Support Offset and Adaptive Voltage settings in BIOS ?Also how would this compare to GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7, which of these two MB have a better BIOS.
I believe so, although could be wrong - and I haven't seen the gaming 7 so couldn't really say I'm afraid!
Also reviews say this Motherboard has Ram compatibility issues. With G-Skill 16GB DDR4 3200 F4-3200C16D-16GVK work with this board? Want my first build to go as smoothly as possible.
+Logan Sanborn I can't validate that kit as I used corsair vengeance lpx ddr4 ram, but I don't see why not.
Thank you.
+Mark Edmund Oh nice! Yes, the idea is you put the shield on, then put your motherboard screws through it into the standoffs. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much. This was really helpful :)
+Mark Edmund No worries! Enjoy your new board!
Building my first PC ever. Familiar with the hardware aspects, but not so much with software and BIOS. Wondering how beginner friendly this motherboard is?
+Logan Sanborn this is pretty good! The bios is easy to navigate and the boot order is on the first screen you see.
I decided to go with the Asus ROG VIII Hero. A board you also reviewed and had nothing but good things to say about.
+Logan Sanborn nice! Yeah that one is pretty awesome too!
Or the Gigabyte G1 i just cant decide its driving me mad lol
SOOO GUYS! M5 should be fine then
should be fine?
because I don't mind buying the m7... unless it's a waste... like does the m5 have less performance?
No performance difference, just features like styling, I/O and overclocking ability.
Does this one have Wifi?
Im strugglin wich one to buy. Hero or Msi gaming 7
Neither do, if I remember correctly! As I said in the video, if you want to overclock, get this one, otherwise is generally lean towards the hero. Hope that helps!
Allright! Im not going to overclock so yeah Hero it is! Thanks for your reply. I subsribed
No worries! Let me know what you think of it once you get the it! Thanks!
Yes! will do!
***** yeah I will ur right. Better to have something then nothing right? I'm gonna follow ur advice and I'm gonna get a 2400 maps card. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
this one or Asus maximus VIII hero?
Please, (sorry for my bad english) i choice this one or the pro gaming carbon i need help
I believe this one is a bit higher end than that carbon so I'd say this.
How many USB ?
Bear with me I'm tad bit of a noob, but what is the indicator at the bottom that's green, it says Ab?
That's the debug LED screen, it shows you two letters that you can reference from the manual to see what the error is. I believe MSI get it to display the CPU temp once the system is fully booted to an OS.
+TechteamGB thanks mate.
You mentioned the board is not the most high end due to not having all the "bells and whistles" lol yea which bells and whistles are missing?
WiFi onboard, Dual Gigabit lan, some more advanced/external overclocking features, certain aesthetic elements, 3/4 way SLI configuration options, U.2, internal thunderbolt header, as far as I know, Thunderbolt 3 that should run through the USB Type-C port, more than 36W support through the Type C port (again as far as I know), and I'm sure there are a few more I'm forgetting.

Do you not find it strange how the IO shield cover essentially takes the spots for securing it to the case standoffs?
+Loxa You can easily remove the screws and put your motherboard screws through it to attach to the standoffs, or remove it and screw it in without it there.
+TechteamGB Ok, seen a few people not using stand offs on them two holes. Would that be safe?
+Loxa I didn't - and it was just fine - although I'd recommend it if you can.
+TechteamGB Ok, cheers.
What size case do I need for this?
Evan Kieser full size ATX
will it support intel core i7 4th gen?
Nope, that's Z97.
+TechteamGB so thats mean it only support skylake?
Yes.
Nice camera effects,new I believe.
+Tyler Wilde (B1ack0ut) Thanks! There a few new ones, yeah!
Why does your board look bent?
+Andrew Voutsinas Possibly fish eye effect on the lens...
Pfft, now I have to buy external Wifi and Bluetooth adapter.
Wait so it has wireless internet connection?
+Felix Kranz Nope.
TechteamGB aww
just buy a pci card wi fi

dang no dislikes or trolls in the comments a rarity in youtube
+Victor Raygoza btw great revie
Haha, I like to think we bring in a more educated crowd! Haha thanks!
"Budget"... this mb is still considered budget category?!
+Mihály Fejér Sorry, I can't remember when I said that - what was the context there?
+TechteamGB 05:15
Ah right! No its not necessarily 'budget', but I think I meant that is isn't an expensive for all the features you get.
$200 a budget board? pfftt ok
von asus zu msi^^
first
+PieOnTheMax nice job.
+TechteamGB Lol thx, btw you sir have amazing videos. I found about your channel couple days a go and man, out off all tech channels, I have to say u are my favorite, keep it up man :)
+PieOnTheMax Thanks man! I'm glad you enjoy the videos! That means a lot, and I hope you continue to enjoy them!
