I'm finding your channel for the first time, first let me say I'm so sorry for what happened to you and your family. Thank you for sharing this information as someone planning to move to Mexico soon, this is important information on how to protect yourself. Thank goodness you and your family are safe.
Thank you for sharing this experience and a beautiful message! Yes Merida is beautiful but everywhere it’s always good and bad people… I’m glad to see you happy, and is always coming something better❤
Wow! Thank you for sharing your experience. I truly believe that Mérida is a safe city, and it's unfortunate that you had to go through such a scary incident. I'm glad you and your family are safe, and I believe that better things are always coming your way!
I love this! Even though you went through a really bad experience, you chose not to let it ruin your whole experience and leave the house in a good note. I also feel safe and truly happy here in Merida. What you say is totally true, this can happen anywhere. I'm glad you are all well and happy. Thank you for letting us be part of your life. We love you all.
I think it is very important that this information is talked about and shared. It puts a spotlight on our habits and trusting others that may have been in your home as friends or service workers. It is a reminder for everyone everywhere to stay aware & be careful. I think we all get comfortable in our surroundings. I agree, don’t live scared just live with a new set of eyes and safeguards. Unfortunately it is the world we live in. These things happen everyday everywhere. The important thing is your family is safe. I pray for your peace of mind and your lives to be full of joy and blessings. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I had an experience, Im mexican and I was visiting friends in Playa Del Carmen, and a couple days after that service workers came in to check a plumb, someone broke in through a window at night to rob (burgle its the word?) so too much coincidence they knew how, we where shocked but glad we didnt notice or were harmed. Its hard but you have to be very carefull in surroundings of your home and who comes in. I guess cámaras and alarms are helpful so they know they are being observed
Alex, I had no idea and I am so truly sorry that you and your family went thru this. Sending prayers to you all and sending hugs, prayers and healing to you all and the boys. This is such a beautiful message full of graciousness and goodness in the end.
Thomas, se bueno, it's both. robbed; robbing Synonyms of rob transitive verb a( 1) to take something away from by force : steal from a (2) to take personal property from by violence or threat b (1)to remove valuables without right from (a place) b (2) to take the contents of (a receptacle) c (1)to take away as loot : STEAL
This is very common in merida but not talked about in the Expat community PLEASE DO NOT KEEP EXPENSIVE JEWELRY CASH @HOME!!! also Dogs (they bark) Cameras (eufy no sub fees) & careful who you hire (nanny, gardener, handy people etc)are a must You were most definitely watched cased & targeted. They were able to get in through the iron window bars?!!! Dang real Professionals THANKS FOR SHARING
@@AlexisDiaz I hope you heal from this. I've never had strangers steal from me. But have had a next of kin steal $$$$ from me in my own home after I took her in & it's a horrible experience. I hope you heal & following your channel.
Don’t worry too much,I am from Mexico and I’ve been living in California for many years and someone also broke into my house, when I was younger I got jumped and beat up by (brothers) and I’m still here 🤷🏽♂️
Im from mexico and i live in merida Yucatán, most likelynwas someone you know maid, gardener or even a "friend" never tell that you are traveling or post on Instagram when you are out
@@MaryGwenDungan You tell the maid/gardener that You need help somewhere else usually i send them help my mom, use your imagination so many options If you live in a upper class neighborhood, neighbors won't even know you or care about you
Yesterday, a man came through my gate into my backyard and tried to open my kitchen door. I can see that side of my house from my bedroom window. Thank god my husband was there or it would have been just my small babies and I. When my husband confronted the man he started begging us for money which completely blew my mind. He ran off and now I have no peace of mind. I'm so grateful nothing worse happened.
Wow! That is terrifying. I’m so glad you guys are okay. I had to go to therapy to get over it. Praying your mind is calm soon. I know what you are going through.
My mom lives in Merida Yucatan it is the 2nd safest city in the America's, either Quebec or Montreal Canada being the first city. Having said this you can not leave on vacation and just abandoned your house without telling a neighbor or friend to keep an eye at least this is what I understood this is how it happened. I live in California and believe me that the food (no hormones), the fruits and vegetables, safety, the people, the beaches etc nobody can;t beat it. The USA is way behind all these points not to mention how expensive everything is around here.
Thank you for sharing, I currently reside in Guadalajara. You have a wonderful perspective, and yes, this can happen anywhere. It happened to me twice in the States in very secure areas. I was home alone both times and fortunately, both occurrences ended well. My other half, with four paws, saw to that. I wish you and your family peace and ease as you settle into your new home. 💙
Glad everyone is safe. Break ins are one of the popular crimes in Merida. It is safe from a lot of gun violence, physical (robbed with force) violence, gun violence, etc. Petty crimes are common and it is spoken of often in the larger Expat communities. Especially in Centro 😢. They were watching, hopefully the owner/workers weren't in on it. Sending prayers your way.
We look forward to getting to know you and being community with others and being intruded upon is a violation unlike any other! You are right that it could have happened anywhere as people are anywhere and everywhere and it seemed as if they had been casing you or knew your movements. We will not employ nannies, housekeepers, cooks, or what not as ease brings peace and prosperity mucho folks! Happy no one was physically injured and seek therapy for the emotional damage.
Wow... sorry to hear this happened --- it can be devastating regardless of where you live...!!! Unfortunately, burglary is all too common in so many places (and whether/not anything is stolen is a mute point). The fact that some complete stranger(s) illegally entered your house is enough. My 92-year old father was burglarized too... they stole nothing of value, but his sense of safety and security was destroyed; so he moved out of his 4-bedroom home in a really nice area, where he had lived for over 50 years, into our ADU.
I think this is one reason why there are so many gated communities with full security. It sounds like you were not in a gated area with security and therefore a little more vulnerable.
Mexico is a great place. Don't let petty crime change your mind about Mexico. As you said, it could happen anywhere. I am happy that you and your family are safe.
This also happens in the US. Do not let it get you down. If Mexico and its surroundings make you happy then stay there. They wanted to steal the copper wiring. Just protect yourself and do not flaunt what you have out in public and you will be fine.

Yeah, the title is misleading. I lived in very exclusive neighborhoods in the United States, and have experienced countless break-ins over the years. I have experienced break-ins in New York, Florida, in different cities and towns. I have been violently robbed in Kingston, Jamaica in the broad daylight. I have been robbed in Paris, France, the second day I arrived in Paris(not break-in, actually robbed) I have been stolen from at the airport in The Gambia, Africa, by an Immigration Officer. My yard equipments have been stolen from my backyard numerous times, too numerous to mention. I don't see why you have to even mention it. I am Jamaican, and I tell you, if a Jamaican breaks in your house, god wouldn't be able to protect you. Jamaicans are not like Mexicans, a lot are some vicious people.
