Edit:
One of the reasons why slendrina appeared in practice mode is because she's immortal so bullets and rocks can't kill her.
Another reason why is because she's on guard duty or can't find her comfort toy.
So, putting the teddy bear might calmed her down, permanently sparing you, and also reward you with a random object or such.
Another edit: I don't know why but seeing her after you put the teddy bear down and the events that followed is wholesome.
Another edit: It might be the slendrina school easter egg where in the ending, the player gives her the teddy bear and she gives him the picture in return, sparing him in the process. Kinda looks exactly like the current situation.

I really wish I knew how to develop games like this. I have so many ideas but 0% knowledge/skill in actually creating it. I had an idea called 'Seven Shadows' where you're trapped in a building (mansion/library/hospital/whatever) and have to solve puzzles to escape while 7 different shadows prowl the halls. Some of them, depending on which choices you make, can become your allies and guide you through the game/give hints when you're stuck - but others are vengeful or mischievous and want to harm you, misdirect you, or slow your progress. Some of the shades grapple with you if they get within range, and you have to tap the screen rapidly or do something similar to get away. They're all based on 1 of the 7 deadly sins. Like the shade who represents envy wants to become you, and if he gets hold of you & you're too slow to escape, he "absorbs" you and you lose. The worst of the seven is pure evil, representing wrath. You know he's close when a wall of darkness comes toward you, snuffing out any lights in its path, and you have to run like a MF or it'll insta-kill you. I'd love to play a game like that.
