Modern mirrors don't use silver coatings, they use aluminum which is why vampires can look into their reflections in the modern era.

Actually, she should have been able to see herself. Nowadays mirrors are made up of aluminum instead of silver. If she was in the 1800's she wouldn't be able to see herself because the mirror would have been made up of silver which is obviously one of their weaknesses. But because the mirror was made of aluminum she was therefor able to see herself :)
