  • As little Serigne grew, his parents noticed his legs were beginning to slowly bend outwards. But it wasn't until his twin brother began walking, all while Serigne struggled to keep up, that the family realized something was really wrong.
At the age of 4 years old, Serigne's bowed legs were already pushing him to the sidelines as his friends played and ran. But hope was ahead, as his mother courageously brought him on board the #GlobalMercy for a surgery that would straighten Serigne's legs-and free his future.
Witness the joy that safe surgery can bring through the eyes of Serigne and his family!

Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to deliver free, world-class healthcare services, capacity building, and sustainable development to those with little access in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens, Mercy Ships has worked in more than 55 developing countries, providing services valued at more than $1.74 billion and treating more than 2.84 million direct beneficiaries. Our ships are crewed by volunteers from over 60 nations, with an average of over 1,200 volunteers each year.
