a part of the Xenoblade the Secret Files: Monado Archives book explicitely states the symbols are Chinese, and (when translated) says "According to Tetsuya Takahashi, these
symbols are vestiges of Earthly civilization, and it is possible that researchers catalogued elements of Asian cultures and people."
From what I understand, the word kanji means "Chinese characters," so a translation would probably refer to it as such. Plus, kanji can mean different things than their Chinese equivalents, and I believe Xenoblade uses their Japanese definitions.
@@haikeloblaix Kanji IS Chinese characters. There is nothing different about Japanese or Korean usage of Chinese characters from traditional Chinese. However, mainland Chinese do not use traditional Chinese and instead opt for simplified.

@@WingedValkyrie mainland Chinese use both traditional and simplified Chinese. Also, Japan, Korea and Taiwan use neither simplified nor traditional Chinese character. Basically all of them plus mainland China have all independently simplified Chinese over the time in different way, with mainland China being the only region that went one step ahead to develop a whole new set of even more simplified Chinese characters in one go, and thus the previously already gradually simplified system become the "traditional Chinese". For everywhere else the system should really be called Japan/Korea/ROC standard Chinese.
You know this Malos and Shulk and monados stuff makes me want to have Malos as a hidden superboss for Future Connected.
That'd be sick, but really what I'm hoping for is a couple new party members that were characters from the main game that never got the limelight, like Tyreya. (Butchered that spelling)

@@Fermin-hw5pd Not DLC, an epilogue story that's included for free with DE. Leaks say it takes place roughly a year after XC1 ends

@@TimothyGodit's not dlc (downloadable content) because it's not downloadable. It is installed when you install DE. If I recall correctly, the only dlc DE has is the Japanese voices (and that's free)
The animations of Bionis and Mechonis Buster are the finishing moves of the titans in the intro, which is a thing you didn't mention.
The symbol for Monado Speed actually appears in Xenoblade 2 during Shulk’s level 4 Special, Monado Unbound

Monado Buster(Inflicts effective damage against mechon and machina. power gained from Zanza)
Monado Enchant(Pierces mechon armor and lets attacks deal bonusdamage against mechon. power gained from zanza)
Monado Shield(Ethershield almost nullifies talentarts. Power gained from Zanza)
Monado Impulse/Speed(Ether enhances physical reflexes. Power gained from Zanza)
Monado Armor(Ether enhances durability of physical matter. Power gained from Zanza after unlocking it through research)
Monado Eater(The Monado absorbs ether from the targets, severly wounding them and dispelling buffs. Power gained from Zanza after unlocking it through finding lost knowledge about it)
Monado Purge(The Monado fires heavy amounts of ether onto the targets, rending their auras and rendering them temporarily immobile. power gained from Zanza after being unlocked by another god)
Monado Cyclone(The Monado causes an etherexplosion, inflicting topple. Power gained from zanzas monado regaining its true power unnaturally quickly)
Monado Unleashed(Version of Monado buster that is able to kill gods. Power gained by becoming a god)
Monado Jump(increases jumpcapabilities. noncanon for the xc multiverse as smashcharacters are implied multiple times to be copies created by master hand)
Monado Smash(possibly a modified version of Monado Cyclone. Users attacks deal higher knockback. Noncanon for the xc multiverse because reason above)
Zanza:
Monado Buster(same as version shulk uses, used in his humanoid form)
Monado Shield(renders user invincible,possibly indicating shield and armor were originally the same power but got split in half)
Monado Brave(Increases attack and etherattack of allies)
Monado Heal(Heals allies. Possibly gained from meyneths monado)
Monado Recover(Heals allies by a great amount. Possibly gained from meyneths monado)
Monado Fear(Decreases Defense and etherdefense of foes. Possibly gained from meyneths monado)
Monado Cross(a crossshaped beam fired by the monado. After optaining meyneths monado, he instead attacks with the weapons themselves instead of a beam)
Monado shoot(Monado creates a chain of noneffect projectiles. Possibly gained from meyneths monado)
Monado Buster(Inflicts daze. Meyneths monado instead inflicts topple)

He also likely has access to enchant, speed and purge. It is never shown tho

Other monadoarts are not confirmed for her, but it could be that some of zanzas arts are actually hers. Also, it could be that she has unknown extra effects against organic life as shulk has a countereffect against gods and zanza has countereffects against mechon and machina

Final cross(this is technically a modified version of meyneths monado buster, unleashing strong surges of monado energy that inflict topple.)
Malos:
Monado Buster(causes blowdown)
Monado Eater(Reduces Blade affinity and causes heavy injuries)
Monado cyclone(creates a whirlwind of energy, causes Blowdown)
Monado Armor(greatly increases durability of physical matter)
Monado Jail(causes shackle blade, making them unable to act)
With Zanza's Buster inflicting Daze, Meyneth's inflicting Topple, and Malos's inflicting Blowdown, I figured I would check the other Buster-like attacks in XC2. While Mythra's Lightning Buster doesn't seem to have any additional effects beyond increased damage at low HP and defense piercing, Infinity Blade and Siren Buster both inflict Blowdown just like Malos's and XC2!Shulk's Monado Busters.
Monado Rage is also one of Shulk's art.

Rolling Smash is the closest thing Rex has to Monado Buster. I mean, it slashes the ground causing flames to rise up. It's shown in the Cutscene against Patroka and Mikhail.
Maybe Monado Brave and Monado Fear are arts for Zanza’s Monado III, which Shulk never uses (Since Zanza upgrades his monado post taking it from Shulk)
Ahulk gets monado III, zanza steals the "original" monado

@@Baltaczar Smash art doesn't increase damage taken, Buster and Jump do. Smash increases knockback dealt, reduces damage dealt, and increases knockback taken.

Each has a strong effect with the weaker increase being opposites across both arts
The Sword of Legendariness better be the Monapo in XC DE. It says ポ(po) in it anyways so it would kinda make sense

Much like Zanza's Bionis Buster and Mechonis Buster, Mythra does have Lightning Buster for her level 3 special, and well as Siren Buster used by Malos when piloting Aion. While they aren't strictly done with Monados, I still consider them as fundamentally the same thing. I'm also tempted to say the same thing about Pneuma's Infinity Blade even though it has neither "Monado" nor "Buster" in the name.
Infinity Blade is basically the Pneuma Monado equivalent of Monado Godbuster.
There's something else to be noted: Meyneth's Monado also has no physical resemblance to a Monado (no art/kanji circle) but it is still referred to as one. I'd say Pneuma's weapon definitely counts, with its three forms corresponding to the Monado I, II and III.
8:27 it’s actually a clone of Mythra’s Foresight, so it’s a partywide buff.
I really hope that in Xenoblade 3 we get to see Rex using Monado Arts with the Pneuma Monado. I mean, it already has what appears to be an arts ring, so it could easily work like the Ontos Monado where the core crystal and its surrounding structure slide forward to fully reveal the arts ring.
Melia's staff in Future Connected has a striking resemblance to a Monado. Not only is does it have a similar color scheme, but it has the same blade of light as the Monado. I doubt this means anything major, but I thought it was interesting.
I honestly do not see melia getting monadoarts through the replica because she is basically already a monado abilitywise. She buffs(Monado Brave), debuffs(monado fear), heals(monado heal), destroys auras(monado purge) and can fire projectiles(monado shoot)

I always thought shield was what all blades can do in xc2 as seen in multiple cutscenes, the shields have a similar design to the monado art one as well
For the first kanji, its the same kanji used in the Japanese name for the Mechonis, as Mechonis is called "Kishin" (machine god), so it also has meaning in that way (although I guess its also the same meaning).
On Monado Shield in Smash,
Competitively in Smash 4 its usage would be more comparable to Monado Armor since its used to live to insane percent
in Smash Ultimate though it’s slightly more accurate since it lets you survive a killing blow or combo
Monado Cyclone is also a name for a new combo in Smash Ultimate which was similar to the Monado Purge combo, although trickier to execute

There is another Monado Art which is little well known. Monado Suicide is an all powerful Art which compels your enemy to kill themselves I have seen it’s use primarily in Smash bros.
I thought the symbols where based off of Chinese? I recall in chuggas video on prison island he said that the symbols had meaning

Monado "Smash" comes from a word 撃墜 which means to strike down, or to knock out in context of Smash Bros.

Monado Unbound is not the same as Shulk’s finisher against Zanza. They look completely different

The reason Rex doesn’t use monado arts I’d obviously because Pyra/Mythra don’t have a giant ring in their guard, or he can’t read kanji, one or the other.

The story of 2 is great. Gameplay is another story. 3 feel like a true sequle to gears. Everything done in xs2 became good in xs2
shulk can inflict the whole break - topple - daze combo if he has the correct gems, you can also topple lock with just reyn

I find it kind of funny that Nia, despite having no direct link to the trinity processor, has her very own completely unique Monado Art... even though _Zanza_ has a Monado Art that would've been _perfect_ for her.

When the Monado Shield driver art is used, the Shield symbol still appears as on the Monado, so that would explain that. Not sure about god though.
