    There’s a work around to close the curtain to switch lenses. Activate the sensor cleaning, after you hear the second click, switch the camera off and the curtain will be closed.

    I totally agree! I have 2x R5 with big and heavy lenses, so I was looking for a smaller & lightweight combo. Finally I bought the RP with the 35 RF and I LOVE it. Super versatile, compact, lightweight, reliable AF and great image quality. I think the RP is super underrated and has a excellent value. (Btw, my R5's and the RF lenses also have black camouflag skins 🙂).

      Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your experience, really appreciated it! ☺️ Yeah, the RP still delivers great results yet versatile in such a small package! I am too loving my RP and the colour science is still really good. It is indeed underrated by many TH-camrs because the specs on paper just doesn’t fit their requirements… but as a camera that it was intended to be, it really is super reliable and delivers more than what it promised. Thank you very much again for watching and for sharing your story/experience! I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! ☺️

    Love my RP. Has everything i need and nothing I don’t! People ripped into on YT but many times just based on the spec sheet and without actually using it! I think it’s a great camera and is more than i will ever need as a photographer.

    Thanks for the video. I was looking for an upgrade for my old EOS 700D. I wanted to get the EOS R, but I think I will get the RP in the meantime until there are any upgrades on the R next year. R5 and R6 are out of my budget.

    • @JoenelDragos
      @JoenelDragos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Save for the R6 and thank me later. I have RP and R6 - just save the $$$ for R6

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think if you can only pick between the R and the RP at the moment, maybe it's best to get the R. In my experience of using both, the R is really worth the extra upgrade. I am not talking in terms of resolution for video and photos.. But the faster and more reliable operational side of the camera is hard to over look, the dynamic range, the colour science, bigger and more accurate electronic viewfinder, the longer battery life, the ability to operate faster yet more efficiently are all the factors that makes the R so hard to overlook and worth that extra upgrade over the RP. Especially when the eos R can be found so much cheaper now in secondhand condition, I think that for a long term investment, the R will be a better investment than the RP. Also, at the end, you might find the the R will achieve all the general things you want a camera to do. :-) That said, if at the end you decided to upgrade to something like the R6, then you still can but I think the R will still be a better long term investment than the RP especially with such a low gap in price for secondhand options... Hope that helps somewhat. I thank you very much for watching and also for the compliment, very much appreciated it! :-) I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    The RP is so underrated .. I’ve had it for 2 years now and I’m still loving it after switching to Sony A7iv and fx30 .. this little bad boy and my RF glasses (16/35/50) have never failed me.. love the build quality and it never faulted on me

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes indeed, I also think that the RP is an underrated camera and that "underrated" is also fuelled by a lot of TH-camrs who just simply didn't find the camera fitting their needs thus giving it really low reviews... But after spending sometime with the camera, it is easy to see how the camera still delivers the good results as well as what it promises to deliver. Furthermore, it has a very rugged build yet in a light and small body size. Thank you very much for watching and also for sharing your story/experience with the camera, really appreciated it. Hi i am looking forward to buy new camera for making photo n video jobs. So i confuse which one to choose between rp an r10. Do you have any idea?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that comes down to how important would a "full-frame" matter to you... If it doesn't really matter that much, the video quality is much better on the R10 (much sharper as well even in only 1080p) and it will also deliver better photo files if you would like to edit them. Furthermore, there are other features of the R10 that makes taking pictures and videos so much more easy/convenient and that is the autofocusing system. So much faster and way more accurate. The r10 also comes with the benefit of cropped-frame, which will allow you to mount cheaper rf-s lenses (should be coming more in the future as well) or even the adapter cheaper ef-s lenses as well. That said, I know to some people (including me), that full frame look is very important... And if the full frame look is also important to you, then the RP would be a better choice. :-) Hope that helps somewhat. I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    The lack of 4K is literally a non-issue for a stills guy like me so even though I don't use this camera, if I ever move over to the R-Mount system, I'm getting the RP xD

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I think most people also don't need 4K as most people are consuming contents mainly in 1080p or sometimes 2.7k since most people still either consume their media content through smart phones or older generation monitors... Also, a good 1080p is still more than good enough even for creating professional looking contents. That said, the RP is still indeed a great camera that will still go where ever you want to take it to and will still deliver great results. :-) Thank you very much for watching and sharing your thoughts, very much appreciated it. Is there a way to map eye AF to a button ?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not really customisable but by default, you just have to press the AF point selection button on the top right of the camera at the thumb pad area and then press the m-fn button to toggle the AF modes around and therefore also turning on and off the eye AF… other than that , I am not sure how to turn it on or off any other short way… I personally didn’t see it in my button customising menu, which is weird because the option is available on my R, R5 and R6… But I hope that helps somewhat… I thank you very much for watching, wishing you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooh, they are two very different cameras and I wouldn’t dare say bad things about the 5d mark iii since I truly love the colours of that camera… So I’ll have to be biased here and say from my experience/preference. For me, when it comes to colour science and the handling of the camera, I will pick the 5d mark iii anytime, any day over the eos RP… But I also have to admit that the newer technology of the RP makes my life much easier, especially with the autofocusing system during live-view plus that detailed articulating screen. So for practicality and portability, I’d pick the eos RP over the 5d mark iii. That said, they are both really great and reliable camera that you can’t really go wrong. Ohh, if you want more battery life per charge, the 5d mark iii will also outlast the tiny battery of the RP… But that’s just based on my biased experience and preference. You and other people might find it totally different. Hope that helps a bit. Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    Great video. I have my Rp since January. It’s a great little camera. I double most of the points you said in your video. As you said the 4K video is not really the best part of it. I do not used it because of the crappy autofocus in crop mode 🙃. Otherwise this thing is a silent monster imo. Covered a concert on it with the rf16 last week. Got some amazing shots. To the dr: I had the best experience with iso between 400-800. ☺️
