the time wasted only affects the ones wasting it, it's the resources wasted that are the problem, ironically one of them being fossil fuels. even without removing jet aircraft from the equation, they could have all flown on commercial flights, or even chartered a few commercial aircraft to pick up several people. the heads of UK, netherlands, belgium and france for instance, could all have quite easily travelled to a common location by road or rail, to be picked up by a single aircraft.
The host summed up this sham of a climate 'summit' by stating that his country is blessed with fossil fuel resources and no-one will stop him putting them on the world energy market. 1:29 is absolutely right - CCS is nonsense. The CC bit is okay, but S is a promise to store an invisible Climate Change gas forever in a geological deposit they've already broken, so they can produce more Climate Change gas. It makes no sense. Here in UK with our colossal but extremely intermittent offshore wind potential, we should do CC and then synthesis of direct-replacement hydrocarbons with recycled atmospheric carbon. That would mean the gas power stations we depend on in low VRE are also NetZero, and our motor and jet fuels, and polymers could be too. That's NetZero done for UK - no need to force EVs and HPs on anyone. With everything NetZero, we can choose based on price. As we build more and more offshore wind, we can export those NetZero replacement carbon commodities - retrochemicals - to a continent who's gagging for them. And this time we can have a sovereign wealth fund.
At COP00 as i call it, i think i asked some persons if it was back then possible to switch to hydrogen as fuel. We could actually reduce ocean evaporation and the intensity of Atmospheric Rivers by "shuffling" the top 1500 feet of the ocean in the tropics. This would drop the ocean surface by several degrees but require flotillas of pumps in those regions. The last two years of worldwide flooding make it clear that we can't just wait for the reduction of greenhouse gases to make the difference. Pumping from that depth and deeper would provide these benefits: a cooler ocean surface; drifting marine detritus would be brought to the surface nourishing micro-algae and phytoplankton which would turn carbon into a food source; salinity would increase in the surface waters possibly ensuring AMOC's continuation and reducing ocean acidity; eventually, nature might even teach us to moderate the climate for future generations through this shuffling of less than 1% of the oceans water. This is a step with too much potential value to not initiate it immediately!

@@pauln6803 Sorry buddy, "Cloud Seeding" is a real thing, Qatar, Oman and other Arabian oil states have been using it to stimulate rain, hence the flood in Qatar over the last few years. However, Spain isn't participating. Spain has always had heavy rainfall during a La Nina weather patterns, climate change will enhance the existing weather, which means extreme heatwaves ALONG with heavy floods.

The International Energy Agency wants Europe to cut down on producing it's own oil and gas as they want no new investment, which could theoretically see the UK start to rely more on Russia and OPEC as a source
The money that is being put into "carbon capture" technology would be better spent paying countries like Brazil not to cut down trees.
if it doesn't work send them to prison, needs to be accountability
Oil companies are good at Green Washing
This is his way of saying that he is above everyone's opinion. Generally speaking where the religious are involved; things that they like are a 'gift from god.' What they don't like is 'god's punishment.'
Now an international lier
On November 11, the same day the COP 29 conference began in Baku, several international human rights organizations released a report titled “Why Are There No Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh?”. The study concluded that the events in Karabakh in September 2023 constituted ethnic cleansing, referencing military actions on September 19-20, which Azerbaijan described as an anti-terrorist operation. Following these actions, all Armenians left their homeland.

Didn't you understand. It's a gift for Aliyev personally, not for you, neither for his own people.
Copgrift. 😂
Prepare for the floods! The planet has no chance with this type of attitude.
Fossil fuels being a gift from god is a bit of an oxymoron
Geo engineering is not our doing
At COP00 as i call it, i think i asked some persons if it was back then possible to switch to hydrogen as fuel. Much has changed during these past decades, but i say now if done correctly my hydrogen solution works globally within let's say 25 years, because re-adaption of our fuel systems globally takes a long time; that's why i wrote 25 years .
WTF ? You cut a very small part of the speech and talking BS.

Save soil 🌍🌍 let's make it happen
could the UK use some of our oil and gas, or is it cleaner to buy it from azerbigjan or doobuy?
The UK imports and exports oil from it's own rigs. It imports oil from norway, canada, algeria, usa. Different types of oil for different uses. It isn't as reliant as EU countries on russian oil esp Germany and Slovakia, but the higher cost of oil and gas affects the entire euro market. UK's own crude oil is sold and exported to the netherlands and china
So, don't buy it then?
Dictator, not president. The Aliyev dynasty is very much like the Assads in Syria.
#COP29 in Azerbaijan: a pivotal moment for regional and international efforts to combat climate change. Together, we can make the planet safer!

2:50 good to hear from Barbados. One could of course ask why the passenger fee is 3€ pr cruise ship passenger in Barbados? How about jacking it up, it is after all cruise ships that contribute enthusiastically to climate change.
I'll tell you what's a gift from God to these people: an imaginary crisis that they tell us is our fault, for which the imaginary solution happens to be making us poorer while they get richer. They preach from the pulpit about our sins, but instead of passing round the collection plate, they just mug us on the way out.
Maybe the god can just tweak the physics a bit to enable hoomans to burn up the gift without any greenhouse consequences?

Oil is objectively marvelous, I don't think it's preposterous to say it a gift from God.
And yet so many people that believe in God deny the process by which oil came to be!
It comes from the Earth.
