I am new to your channel, thanks for the video! I have been a user of Wahoo Systm for several years, however, I am looking to make a change and I believe I had settled on Trainer Road as my best option. I was thinking about not making the switch until the start of the next indoor season (Fall), however, I am wondering if making the switch now, if for no other reason than to feed it my outdoor workouts would be a good idea?

Oh god the sweet spot blocks are so painful.
Used to use them till I burnt out. Not gonna lie, the polarised training model implementation in TR has been a game changer.

When I was injured sweet spot was kind of my only choice. The shorter sharper intervals are really hard when you can’t stand, and sometimes the jumps are too big for erg mode. I did a lot of riding with my right arm supported by a table so I couldn’t stand or shift.

I've noticed that TR is pretty conservative with the AI FTP if you have taken time off but it seems to be way more accurate when you are consistently hitting workouts. The good thing about the workout levels is even if it does start you at a lower FTP, the workout levels will adjust quickly to keep you progressing forward so I've become less obsessed with the number

Yeah that makes sense. The more workouts you're doing from the TR platform, the more data points it has to go on. I know it takes outdoor and non TR stuff into account as long as you have the relevant accounts linked but the AI can compare so much easier with a TR workout. Thousands of other people have complete that exact workout and TR knows what their FTP looked like after, what the failure rate was, all that stuff.

Dang, are you guys going to Tulsa Tough?

We’re not. We’re really a “local” team so we pretty much keep it in the southeast. We were planning to do Joe Martin, but that would have been stretching a bit.

    4.7 w/kg !!! Geez !! That’s good

Thanks! My w/kg is always more impressive than my raw watts though. I’m always killing myself to get over the 300 mark

Did you say you uploaded the RAMP test before you had TR calculate? Seems that new information of the RAMP test would need to be considered from TR? Since it's AI it needs that new TODAY information....would be interesting to see how close they were if it had that current/last ride.

I did not upload the ramp test until after I got the TR calculation. The act of doing the ramp test shouldn’t be enough stress to change the FTP and the point of the AI ftp detection is that you use it without ever doing a ramp test, so I wanted to compare the two. The AI ftp as you would normally use it (with all my training info and no ramp test) vs a ramp test. The AI having the ramp test data would defeat the purpose of using the AI. It also won’t let you do it twice in a day or I would just click again after the upload

20W jumps is too low for anyone with an FTP ~300W.

Lol. My FTP is a tad lower, but let's say comparable, maybe, on a good day. But I'm a solid 20kg heavier :-(

Hey, if you even know your FTP you’re probably fitter than 90% of the general population
