Honestly SO HAPPY that more people are finally watching this one (it sadly wasn't really marketed well when it was coming out). This is one of my favorite holiday films of all time and it's a staple to watch it every year at my family's house.
One of my favorites... and the weird thing is, it didn't start out that way. I missed it when it played in theaters, because I made a point of intentionally doing so. At the time, I was under the mistaken belief that its creators... the British studio Aardman... had decided to turn their backs on the high quality stop-motion animation they'd been doing for years for the flashier medium of CGI. This was one of two such features they did, the other being *Flushed Away* . As an animation buff, I've grown a little frustrated that practically everybody's doing CGI now; traditional animation was abandoned years ago, and only a few are still doing stop-motion. What I didn't know at the time of this movie's release was that Aardman suffered a fire at their animation facility a few years before, and it would take time to get their stop-motion studio up and running again, so they made a temporary switch to CGI ( beginning with *The Pirates: Band Of Misfits* , they've returned to stop-motion ). The Nostalgia Critic gave this such a glowing review, so I gave it a try. I'm still kicking myself for not seeing this theatrically.
Ooh I hadn't heard of this film before but seeing the animation it actually looks like EXACTLY my kind of christmas film (animated childrens christmas films >>>>> christmas romcoms) so I am going to go and watch this one at some point!! Watched on mute 💗
This is my favorite Christmas Movie and I’m so happy to find a movie commentary about it!! And it is tear worthy, I saw it again after years with my little sister and god, I didn’t remember how emotional it was and how much I see of myself in Arthur, it’s beautiful, love it!
