  • In 1913 a devastating flood nearly wipes out the downtown riverfront area. Since then downtown Columbus has changed and evolved into a area of growth and development. From the construction and completion of the LeVeque tower in 1927 to the Opening of the Rhodes tower in1974. And the many changes to happening over the past 25 years and today downtown Columbus has become a place to work live and play. This video takes you on a journey through the years

I'd say I love this and give it a thumbs up... if it weren't for the dumb captions in the middle of the pictures blocking them, which can't be read until they're faded in in random order distracting from the images.

Strange how the Lincoln-Levesque wasn't photographed until the final 1/4 of construction. It was probably Tecumseh's home....Idk who built it or for what purpose I just know it wasn't us. Jeez Louise that music literally to tears...it's beautiful.

Idk if y’all know but the flood is how the bottoms and hilltop got their names.

A news station in Columbus in the 90s recorded some of the earliest HD footage ever in the city and at OSU, they posted the videos on their channel :)
As far as I know this makes Columbus, NYC, and Tokyo the only cities with viewable pre-2000s HD footage.

Left Columbus (college) in '82. After living in NYC and now Chicago, it really holds its own as a skyline. Despite the Rhodes tower...it looks at you like it's not really happy with you. Oscar the Grouch comes to mind with those eyebrows. Early 70s brutalism, but I've seen worse. At least it's not solid concrete. Huntington was done right, as was Nationwide, and LeVeque is flat out bizarre/cool.

You forgot to put a capital g in the sentence you started.
