no autotune, no mixing board, no enhancements of any kind. just a microphone, amps, lots of speakers, and the very best voice to ever grace this planet.
John, there is no singer in the world today or, in my opinion, ever who will sing as good or even close to Elvis. He should have won so many grammys for so many of his records. The only reason he didn't receive more was plain old jealousy. He is the King, and he will always be the King. Thanks for your videos and your appreciation of the Greatest singer ever, Elvis Presley.
I have always been Elvis fan. One thing I about Elvis like you said he surrounded himself the best musicians ever. I never thought I would ever see a band like that until I saw Elton John in 2022 live. And his band was tight and clean, and it was absolutely enjoyable seeing that kind of musician work.
Ya Elvis DEFINITELY knew what sound he wanted and he was a BIG sound kinda guy. He was THEE biggest star in the world and wanted his show to reflect that. He had the best musicians, back up singers and orchestra money could buy at the time.
And to think with all that talent around him its ELVIS arranging everything. Producing everything. Everything done in advance. He didn't write but he did EVERYTHING ELSE. Once he sets everything up... they PLAY onstage. And they were among the world's greatest at each instrument. They were SO TIGHT.
Hey John, this was filmed in San Antonio,TX. My dearly departed parents and my older brother were at this concert. I unfortunately was only 2 yrs old at the time 😭. Every time I watch this it makes me happy. My parents were the reason I became a huge Elvis fan ❤️
One of the more underrated songs Elvis played along with "Funny How Times Slip Away". These musicians were absolutely amazing and I think Elvis knew they were unique, he appreciated them too.
Elvis was the arranger of this great team he put up. He is the conducter of a musical team he invented!!! and paid!! Elvis the arranger!!!!!his idea gospel , blues, rock, clasic in one performance!!!no one ever did before.
They said his concert at Madison Swuare Garden was one of his best on tour! The rolling Stone said he was like a prince from another planet. They really weren't expecting it because he'd been gone from the scene for 10 years and everyone was blown away! His suits weighs about 30 # and his cape about the same! That's amazing because he was still pretty slim then. The guy that made his jumpsuits said they had to put most of the stones in the around the chest and shoulder area for him to carry the weight better. I noticed in his rehearsals he wore weight around his ankles and wrists to get used to the weights. That made it easier for him to move more freely because he'd gotten used to the extra weight. If you watch rehearsal at the International hotel in aug 1970 you can see him wearing the weights.
He draws you in and just plays with your brain the changes in his voice and those amazing drums 🥁 and the rest of the musicians as for the backing singers well there aren't enough words to describe them.
Another amazing song again by the great man this is why is unbeatable in the best in the world never be anyone else like him long as everybody live❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you're going to be WITH the best , you've got to perform the best also...Elvis inspired his band and they gave him their VERY best....And the whole thing was simply AMAZING !
Elvis never did a studio version unless you count rehearsals, this is one of his songs never recorded in studio. Honestly it wouldn't be the same, this is definitely a Elvis concert song, I don't think it would have the same feel in studio. TCB band kicks butt again!! This is the band at its tightest in 72
@@johngibsonmusic You probably are familiar with the version from Elvis as recorded at madison square garden. That was the actual first released version of this song.

There is never a 70's Elvis song that hasn't got a marvelous bass line. Jerry Scheff my man. The whole TCB Band is fantastic of course, but Jerry is always so cool in the background, delivering his masterful stuff. And it shows how much Elvis loves him. There's no lack of bass solos etc in their repertoire.
❤ 🎶 "Absolutely Fabulous 💃 ; Beloved Elvis Presley 💘 an Extraordinary Voice 🎶 and Persona like No other's.. Magnificence 🏆 ln Abundance. Thanks for Sharing Love 💘 and Enjoy a Fabulous 🌴 Day..". 🎶 ❤
I don't know to what level Elvis did the musical arrangements, but I do know from videos and documentaries that he was deeply involved. The band was incredible but of course it all perfectly framed the enormous talent of Elvis. I can't help but watch this video and feel bittersweet. He still physically looks and sounds great. But I believe the seeds for his premature demise were already germinating. The grueling concert schedule, the depression over the end of his marriage, and the pills, not to mention unresolved issues from his youth all would soon start to catch up with him somewhere during this two year 72-73 period.
EP was getting frustrated with career and life, his multiple illnesses and extreme work schedule causing havoc....but his marriage ending had nothing to do with his feeling down. Part of his loneliness and despondency was because he missed having his beloved daughter with him(and his late beloved mother, of course).
Great reaction John. Elvis never recorded this song in the studio. Live only. Good stuff. This was taken from his documentary film Elvis On Tour filmed in 1972.
Elvis can sing the phone book and I would love him. He is resting thru this song - it's a slow down from his stage show thus far in that night. You can see he is pouring sweat and dropping the ends of the words just bc it is a rest song and he is I extreme low gear here. 💗💗💗🎵🎵💗💗💗
You're right - every single person on that stage was amazing and then Elvis on top of it. Would never have picked up on that tambourine beat if you didn't point it out. Great reaction!
As always very relevant comments from this 1972 video. On Wednesday, Martin Fontaine, performed almost his 2000 performance in Montreal, pretending that Elvis went in Montreal in 1972, I was a great show! So important to keep the memory of Elvis alive ...
This is a wonderful track, the way he uses that fantastic voice making it go and is magic, by the way John I think you are a killer guitarist, seen you a few times on video and love listening to you, just thought You might like to know and I bet I am only one of thousands
You enjoy watching/listening to his performances, unbelievable to attend one in real time. Awsome, fabulous doesn't begin to describe the excitement. Thrill of a lifetime.!!!!!!!
Good reaction and the way you explained the different sounds coming from voices the orchestra and the greatest of these is the king himself. Thank you for expounding.
one of my favs who the hell else could have a 30 piece orchestra back up band back up singers put it all together and make it work he was AMAZING beeen in hospital most of aug hope i didnt miss too much John
Powerful emotion & voice, it is amazing from Elvis to sweet inspirations and of course JD Sumner and stamps. JD had a great loud bass voice, it should be said Elvis and JD Sumner had a great understanding & rapport since Elvis was a young teenager he used to go to JD Sumner and Blackwood brothers concert to listen to their music. Elvis forever🎶🎵🎶🎵🎸🎹🎸🎹🥁🥁🥁🥁
John, you choose another gem! This is, like so many other Elvis-Songs, sadly not well knowed.. but as you mentioned: the arrangement is just perfect, the back up singers did a great job and Elvis voice is impecable (the recording is from the 1972 San Antone concert..) Elvis and his musicians created a sound, like no other. Unmatched greatness.

Both were not underrated, but well known songs from other artists...
Both were not underrated however Elvis interpreted and sang those songs much better with his unique backup singers great performance
