Celebrating 1,000,000 Likes to the All That Remains Facebook page! ATR performing "This Calling" from their 2007 DVD 'All That Remains: Live.' / allthatremains / atrhq
Yes, it is the 'traditional' grip of the old jazz greats. Not too many rock guys use it, there are definitely guys that absolutely kill playing that grip, Vinnie Colaiuta comes to mind, but it's just rare in rock music.
In response to the "metalcore" label the band has often been classified under, Phil Labonte said “ We are a modern metal band, is really the best way to say it, you know..."
alot of people (mostly non-singers) tend to judge a singer and say they "have a horrible voice and that its doctored up to sound good in the studio". these people have no clue what its like to sing on a daily basis. your voice goes through stages when you put it under a certain amount of stress. too much stress can cause irreparable damage.
If I'm not mistaken, this was an encore.. meaning the very last song of their set, so please, cut Phil some fucking slack if he's a bit off on the chorus. This was also back in "The Fall of Ideals" era of All That Remains when Phil has just started singing and his screaming was the priority, so yeah.
ALL THAT REMAINS!!! You guys are a huge inspiration to our band hope some day we'll even be half as good as you! I wana know your secret Philip! Please share some wisdom man \m/ RESPECT!!!
U guys Live shows kick Much ass!! Last time i saw u guys was with Hatebreed, Surrender The Fall and This Tragic Day in Memphis ~ Badfukinass Show!! Ready for more!!
For my fellow guitarists out there trying to play along and it doesn’t sound right. This live version is actually is C# standard opposed to the original studio which is in D standard, so it’s a half step down. This is probably due to the fact that the bands album “overcome” was mostly in that tuning, and I’m pretty sure this tour was to promote the album
Yeah this was an encore and I was definitely getting a little tired. When we switched to a click track live though, if you check the tempos on that album ...they're all different throughout most of the songs. There's drops and increases in many parts of most the FOI record. I don't know why people notice it live so much and not on the recordings 😉 I'm on actual album click tracks for most of my time in the band. Thanks! I'll miss seeing all you guys out there and touring with my extended family ❤
+TheInfantFinite666 I was at this show when it was filmed it was at the Recker theater in Baltimore Maryland they filmed a DVD that night and the next night after in Philadelphia the reason the sound was off so bad was that they were supposed to play the night before at another location in Baltimore and switch all the equipment over after that gig.But the van broke down on the way to the gig the night before this so that show was cancelled and the label dint get a replacement to them early enough to do a really good sound check at the Recker Theater. 3 months later they came back to Rams Head Live in Downtown Baltimore and kicked some serious ass.
So much respect for the drummer doing traditional. That's raw.
Except for the tempo lol
Traditional grip ! Awesome
@@keenman0403 it was the guitarists fault
@@keenman0403 okay in the second half of the video it is his fault I may have spoken too soon haha
I saw him live, originally I thought he was just doing sound check because he was insane, but then the band came out and he killed it.
Everyone in the chorus is just happily singing while drummers feet wither away
Lol
periphery - "the way the news goes" also has a blast beat chorus xD
Man I missed the golden age for metal concerts.
It is an absolute mind fuck to see this drummer playing with traditional grip.
No doubt.
by traditional grip do you mean the left stick being flipped the other way? (not a drummer sorry lol) either way this drummer is sick.
Yes, it is the 'traditional' grip of the old jazz greats. Not too many rock guys use it, there are definitely guys that absolutely kill playing that grip, Vinnie Colaiuta comes to mind, but it's just rare in rock music.
Nick Hajek the drummer from unearth plays traditional grip
@@dfkeenum v.
Never realized that their drummer played traditional style. Seems kinda rare in metal
They put on a hell of a live performance!
Wow they sound amazing live!!!

they are melodic metalcore..that's a pretty respectable genre of metal

RIP Oli. I still come back to these vids just to see you bro
and i hear this calling "yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah"
His screams are 10/10 but clean vocals are 7/10
He is much better nowadays
Yeah totally agree.
11/10
@@WHOREHAMMER_OFFICIAL For sure, this clip is probably the worst I’ve ever heard Phil sound. It’s unfortunate this was a pro shot.
Clean 4/10 i Would Say
