Hello from Calgary. Oh wow is actually a phrase that suggests an underhanded compliment. Like u sure someone is successful but ok whatever if that makes them happy but not for me. So really it undermines the happiness or achievement someone is experiencing. It came from the phrase “eh di wow” meaning ur pretending to be impressed by soemone’s achievement just to please that person though u both know for a fact that ur not impressed by it. Saying eh di wow is giving someone half baked compliment just to end the conversation basically.
