Dude do u realize that if schools stayed closed we wouldnt learn for a year so we basically flunk and forget every basic stuff because our brain isn’t practicing.
@FuseSchool - Global Education , please answer. If salt , sand, nails, water and oil were all mixed together, what would be the quickest way to seperate all of them? I know first its filtering to get sand and nails out, then magnitesm to remove nails from sand, then distillation to remove water from oil and salt, *what do i do to remove oil from salt?*
Hi there, interesting question! If you go back to the stage where you have water, oil and salt, you can separate oil first. Since it has a different density, you can use separation funnel to separate them. And then, separate salt from water using distillation.
the boiling points of ethanol and water are considered fairly similar so fractional distillation is used in preference to simple distillation . Simple distillation is used if the components of the mixture (solution) have a large difference in boiling point.
When there was simple distillation separating ethanol and water, I thought it was going to be fractional distillation because some water is probably starting to evaporate as the Ethanol is heated. :/
Wow I had to do this exmerament about separating water sand and salt then I press on this video then randomly find that it actually tells you how! Thank you o much for sharing this information and saving my life!
Hello! I am uploading a simplified version of this on my channel. You might have moved on in subjects, but I would still appreciate it if you took a look! I will upload it tomorrow =)
filtration is when there is when there is a soluble and insoluble liquid present. So example copper[II] sulfate soluble in water but copper[II] oxide is insoluble in water so if both this substance is placed together how are you going to separate it. Well, in this case, we use filtration so you should add water to the mixture of copper[II] oxide and copper[II] sulfate so the copper[II] sulfate will dissolve so now you can filtrate this mixture and you will get copperp[II] sulfate as the filtrate and copper[II] oxide as the residue.
No, it is not since in evaporation the liquid gets evaporated and doesn't get collected. As for the distillation method the liquid gets condensed after vaporizing/boiling it, and the solid remains in the round bottom flask. Hence, that is why evaporation is different than distillation.

There is also another separation method in homogeneous solutions, crystallisation, which only works for solutes that can decompose
Yes but they are less commonly used

I think ethanol/water solution is azeotropic and cannot be separated by simple distillation.
water vapour will also be present with the distillation of ethanol + water

So how do you separate sugar from salt water without caramelisation?
ok so if sugar is insoluble in water you can use filtration btw it is crystallization on caramelization

Hello! I am uploading a simplified version of this on my channel. You might have moved on in subjects, but I would still appreciate it if you took a look! I will upload it tomorrow =)
Can someone explain this please, why can filtration not be used to separate solutes from solutions?
Molly McCabe Sometimes the solute is fully dissolved in the solvent, and it may pass through the filter paper. Like salt dissolved in water.
filtration is when there is when there is a soluble and insoluble liquid present.
