Great lore video, really loved the break down on the Millwood Knights. The theory on Kalamit was really cool and raises some great lore ideas!. Great stuff! Thanks for all the hard work you always put into your vids!

The painting is repainted and its inhabitants have to perish with it, hence the painting is only a refuge for a time. So I think they would come far later, after the distruction of ariamis painting
I disagree. The inhabitants need not perish with it. To the contrary, many inhabitants are happy to see the flames burn the painting with the idea that they have a new home coming. I do not recall the painting burning and everybody dying from it being part of the lore. Maybe I am wrong.
So, this one forest would be the home of the Milwood, then of Oolacile, then of the keepers of Artorias' grave, then of the Farron Keep... and we still haven't found the Aetherial Tree in it
Love it! didn't even consider the white birch trees as being saplings (as they are) of their ethereal tree. I thought it was maybe yggdrasil-esque and it was maybe a lite easter-egg for elden ring. But the connection with the stone warriors of darkroot garden was pretty compelling! especially the ashes holding a white birch branch!
I never thought of the white birch like that! Sounds like it could become a retroactive easter egg as if they didn't plan on it being a reference at first, it still fits well and they could way to use in Elden Ring. Similar to the Arch trees in DS, the trees visible in any of the dream areas in Bloodborne, and the trees in Sekiro, I'm sure there will be some sort of tree that represents the reality you exist on in Elden Ring as well as being able to views other off in the distance.
Could the Ethereal Oak dying have caused the magic to leak into the surrounding forest and eventually lead to the talking mushrooms? I'm hazy on the mushrooms lore. lol
Could the white branch in the captains hand be from a Witchtree maybe? I mean ther are staves made of Witchtree branches and we see WitchTrees in DS2 could could it be that Millwood had Witchtrees with the Knights as their protectors? Also the knights sound very Druidic with the worship of Nature and a Great Oak as the focal point of their civilisation. Not sure if thats any clue to where tey might have come from.

He's called Father of the Abyss but it was never clear if the abyss ecisted before he transformed or only after when he escaped his cell in oolacile and entered the chasm of the abyss. Because if the abyss was created by Manus then there wouldn't be an abyss dragon before oolacile existed. But if I'm wrong please correct me
The abyss existed since the war against the dragons and the weapons from the ringed knights are forged in the abyss for the war efforts. I think olacile was just the first time when the abyss went wild and started to consume the world

I wish someone would make a video on the height differences between enemies in a “Aren’t these supposed to be humans?” way. The it happens with the Old Soldiers, Lothric Knights, the DS2 DLC enemies, Abyss Watchers, and likely many more, but they’re supposed to be human and it’s a little confusing.
I always viewed Kalameet as dark in nature as I believe much like Manus created the Abyss so did Kalameet create his Calamity the dragon equivalent too the abyss
As the Abyss is just the worst aspects of humanity it’s worse outcome, calamity is just pure ruin the worst outcome for the “everlasting” dragons cause if dragons are akin to mountains Kalameet and his Calamity are a volcano
It's like Chester is a reference to Bloodborne and the one Hunter in Bloodborne as well as just a bunch of Katanas in DS3 were references to Sekiro. From seemingly loves to subtly hint at their next work in the previous. So be on the lookout for anything weird in Elden Ring that could be it's own theme.
I don't know, for that to work Kalameet would've had to have been the abyss dragon before the abyss consumed Oolacile. Its possible, because we all know time is effectively meaningless in dark souls, but it's a critical enough event, and early enough in the timeline that introducing more unnecessary timey wimey bullshit feels like the wrong conclusion.

I may be wrong but I don’t think it says that dragons were the sole beings, just that they ruled that age. Humans existed in the Abyss before the great souls were even found in the flame as stated by the Ringed Knight equipment descriptions. There was just no birth and no death before the first flame (likely because there were no souls before they discovered them in the flame), the human-ish things we see stumbling around in DS1’s intro are hollow humans which can’t die so that fits in with the “no disparity” thing. I’m just talking out my ass tho, ain’t no way they were planning all this back when they made DS1

The "painting witchtrees" are called Birch Maidens which seems like a reference to Anastacia the Ash Maiden and the White Birch of Oolacile.
