    Thanks bro. I have cleaned our carb twice and it still bogs or won't start easily without spraying engine start. I've looked everywhere for this exact carb and no one had it. But your part number saved alot of mucking around. To everyone saying this was the wrong way to go you know nothing. These carbs are crap and this guy saves those of us with this problem alot of mucking around. Go troll on your own videos because you do not help. Thanks again mate

    Nice Video, and helpful for those not savvy with small engines ... Have the same unit ... been rebuilding these carbs with kits for 40 years with good results and still have a few universal kits laying around ... but for $13 bucks it's easier to just swap these replacement out and you're good to go in 10 minutes ... amazon also has them as kits with gaskets, fuel line/filter, bulbs and a plug for $15-17 bucks complete .... with today's ethanol fuels the inner gaskets/diaphragm and fuel lines get hard and stop working or break ....

      Yes surprising how cheap they are. I still use it since I replaced the carb, so far it runs good

    Your adjustment screw is in the center of the throttle shaft by the way, although new carbs are so cheap I don't blame anyone for not wanting to bother

    Got the kit from Amazon and was able to install the carburetor and finish my yard 👍👍

    Chaning the carburetor was fine, but was skipping two other steps a person should take. First thing is to make sure your filter isnt clogged in the gas tank, next step is to replace the spark plug, then if problem persist, clean the screen in your carburetor or change the carburetor. I have had two of my different ryobi weed eaters over time to start bogging down and shutting off and in both cases a spark plug fixed the problem

    When mine bogs, I just use some carb cleaner and it works fine.

    You have two adjustments on that carburetor the idle screw and the other one is hidden inside that brass fittings which requires a special tool a single D bit. These ry253ss need to be adjusted or rejeted for altitudes above 1000 to 2,000, or they will burn up over time.

    • @2121groundzero
      @2121groundzero ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I need to adjust the single D adjustment on mine. It stalls out when under full throttle. What do you think?

    • @tomasznumrych7187
      @tomasznumrych7187 ปีที่แล้ว

      The screw on my ry253ssvnm requires a tool called "Acircle". What does that screw control, high or low?

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Here is a link to amazon, there is a picture of acircle tool. If your ryobi has high and low adjustment you should be able to use this tool for both.

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check for any cracked fuel lines and the gas tank first, also if the trimmer is left or stored on its side or upside down the carb will leak

  • @Powerslave226

    Thanks for the video! I replaced the carb & fuel lines (all came in the package) and am still having this issue. Any ideas?

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Check fuel filter, make sure you have no air leak so check carb gasket, and also make sure to use 50:1 mix I know mine works a lot better on 50:1. I’ll try to think about anything else that can be an issue and let you know

  • @deebo2808
    @deebo2808 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have the same exact weed eater And the problem with mine is that once I get it started and running, as soon as I switch it to the 3rd spot (run) it bogs down soon after throttling and then shuts off.
    I’ve changed the spark plug, carb, fuel filter,air filter and made sure the spark arrestor works fine. Do you have any ideas what else could be my problem?

  • @user-ivr-pines24
    @user-ivr-pines24 ปีที่แล้ว

    So in the short you can’t adjust the carb, have to buy one, no low , or high adjustment screw/ knobs, hidden, isn’t this a barrel carburetor? Should be adjustment

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t find the adjustment screws but I think I still have the old carb, I’ll take a look again maybe it’s hidden or covered.

    • @Genetics1
      @Genetics1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it has a low idle speed that is in the center of the carb. this type of carb is what you call a barrel type carb not like the old style butterfly flap.

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can also open it clean that might work, also can get kit and rebuild it but then it wouldn’t be much cheaper that replacing the whole carb. I didn’t see adjustment screws on this one. I still have the old one I’ll take a look again just to make sure.

      @@MeadowgateWorks The hoses are correctly replaced. But after more thought I removed the new gasket provided that did not have the air hole in the correct position. Put back the original and I then managed to start it but it would not idle. It shut off. I could not start it again. I’m out off reasons why.

      @@MeadowgateWorks yeah. I've seen people suggest the head of the trimmer too and potentially the gearbox up behind the throttle. I've had mine for 5 years now and I'm getting ready to do a pm overhaul. Any suggestions on what sort of lubricant to use?

    • @olddirtyburt7522
      @olddirtyburt7522 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there should be a bolt on your trimmer head or attachments. That bolt is to be taken off and gear lube is to be placed in there. Its not one of the bolts that hold onto the tools head, rather its distinct and different from those. Echo has a bottle of lkube and a tip to go right in there.

      If you had tried too many times to pull the cord the engine might be flooded with gas, try this: choke off, hold the throttle down then pull the cord until it starts. It might take 20, 30, 40 pulls. What this will do is dry the engine and hopefully start.

    This wasn't a repair it was a replacement. New carbs gotta be adjusted so might as well fix what you got.

    These factory ryobi carburetors are horrible. Old lady though she was saving money once.he lost the receipt and we had to wait out three before we gave up and called it a lost. I replaced the carburetor and it runs better. They look almost identical but the aftermarket one I purchased looked beefier

  • @josh32tripple1

    Or just adjust the idle and full throttle positions? Waste a whole carburetor instead of turning two screws.

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did try adjusting idle before putting on the card but it didn’t work. Also there is no high or low adjustment screws on this carb just idle.

      If you have everything hooked up correct, try putting in run not choke or half choke, press the throttle lever and hold it then pull the cord up maybe even 20-30 times and see if it starts.
